I have had these for a while now. they do however dim within the hour of continous lighting. THE BEST Rechargeable Lantern has to be The RSA Manufactured EUROLUX 630 LED 5w. I was dumstruck. cable theft and no electricity for 4 days. Had the Lantern on for 5 hours a night. and by the end of the 4th day, without charging, the Lantern was still BURNING VERY BRIGHT! Have since been trying to get more. been up and downing at Makro for another. no luck!
I have 3 of these, but can I use this lamp lying on its side or back (light facing ceiling) and it gives a better light and better for the eyes. Just concerned it will affect battery negatively or it may be dangerous??? PLEASE HELP
So what is the difference between the two? Take a Lot sell the first one you showed model 1024L for R250 and then a gen 2 for R499. Is a gen two an improvement on the model 1024L

I have been charing mine for the past 2 days and it never gets full. I started charging it on Friday even now it's still not full. I wonder how long it takes to get this thing fully charged

The drawback of this lamp is the lead acid battery which has very limited recharge cycles. With loadshedding in South Africa the battery does not last six months. Replacement battery is about 2/3 the cost of the lamp itself, and does not last long either. This lamp is a waste of money! They have now introduced a lithium ion version which should be a better alternative, though more expensive, R350 vs R250.
It's got to be the nr. 1 selling lamp for a reason. All three of mine are still doing well battery wise after 6 months of use at 4 - 8 hours of use per week.
People who buy these lamps, please take note: they use standard 6 volt 4Ah lead/acid batteries. These are similar to motorcar batteries, which means that they can not be discharged beyond about 80% without suffering damage. In effect, the advertised 60 hours of light is actually only about 12 hours. You can also cause damage by overcharging the battery. It is at 100% at 6.44 volts and down to 80% at 6.33 volts: you need a volt meter to check this. If it goes over 6.44 volts, or under 6.33 volts, expect the battery to have a very short lifespan. Don't expect it to charge your 'phone: it will keep it running to make emergency calls, but that's about as far as it will go. I have one and as I know the limitations of the battery, I don't push it beyond 12 hours before charging it up again and I always keep an eye on the voltage when I do charge it.
Take it back to the shop and exchange it. I have been seeing a lot of comments about the bad batteries on the new ones. Sorry to hear that and have a great Sunday

The mk 2.0 got a battery upgrade it now has a lithium-ion battery

Not sure. Sorry. My new one is not working as well as the one I bought 2 years ago. I think they are slipping on their QC.
Red wire to terminal with red mark on it, black wire to black. It's very simple.
How do I know when it's fully charged ?
I normally plug it in at night and remove it the next morning. Hope that helps and thank you for watching
Buy a new led latern called Switched and its also have a green led for battery Full.

They never turn green. If it has changed for a few hours it is done.
Buy a New Same Led Latern called Switched. It's also have a green for full battery.

You can just buy a new battery. Outdoor warehouse sell the batteries.
