As a lifelong Phillies fan those Braves pitchers were unmatched. I always enjoy listening to Smoltz. Guys who played and don't take themselves to seriously are the best. Larry Anderson is radio gold.
Per Skenes, maybe he really is the next Nolan Ryan and won’t have much of an injury history to speak of. His mechanics (unlike Strasberg) look relaxed and Ryan-like, and the ball pops a lot like old Nolan’s did. Time will tell.
The thing that strikes me about Skenes is that it doesn’t look like he’s working that hard to get the results he gets. Some guys it’s obvious they’re max effort all the time. With Skenes, he’s getting guys out and it looks like he’s at about 75% effort.
