Wow... I never heard this BBC live version before. This is one of my favorite songs. The harmonies are fantastic, superb performance, thanks for uploadin' :D
Supported the Ivy League in the 60's and the experience made us realise we could not make it. They and their backing group Division Two were brilliant. When we weren't playing we just watched them backstage in awe.
A great band with their own solid material. I wish they could have really broken through here in the states ! I have found a newer album with great songs and harmonies all with a 60's/70's vibe. That would be Rhythm Of The World by The Cowsills.
Hi John, I was at Uni in the late 60s. Every Friday we had a Uni Hall of Residence informal dance and for these we had a talented student in-house dj. For a year or more, he would end the dance with Funny How Love Can Be. He always used to sign off with.....Hope you got lucky tonight girls and boys...y'know it's funny how love can be!
YOUR HARMONIIES HERE ARE SO PERFECT!!!!! THIS IS SUCH A GREAT SONG THAT YOU DID. THANK YOU !!!! I AM FROM U.S.A. (MINNESOTA) AND I AM JUST LEARNING ABOUT YOUR GROUP. AM I WRONG?...... WHO IS THE ONE WITH THE SUNGLASSES.... IS THAT PERRY FORD? THANK YOU.
Thank you for your nice comments and support. You can find The Ivy League collection on Amazon. Best, John 🤗 This Is The Ivy League/Sounds Of The Ivy League/Tomorrow Is Another Day + EP & Bonus Tracks amzn.eu/d/9bSXdDa
Absolutely fabulous performance. One of the things I miss most in today's so called "music" is the lack of great harmony; my favourite band, Steely Dan, are quoted as saying they too enjoy great harmony. I'm not sure if the recent so-called stars, eg Take that , actually sing in harmony or just in unison. As a former (rather poor) drummer I' m not well versed in such technicalities !!!!
@@JohnCarterUKSongwriter sadly, harmonies seem to have been left behind. I'm a big Everly fan and was exposed to all this great music through my dad. The Everly's, Beatles and The Ivy League will always be favourites.. I was born at the wrong time, wish I had been around in the 60's..
@@JohnCarterUKSongwriter sounds like you and Tony Burrows were in lots of groups but you were also one with your wife who wrote for him and others. If my memory isnt going yet you and your wife wrote beach baby which Tony sang. And yes im that old
@@JohnCarterUKSongwriter That's cool JC. Anyways, do you still have the pair of sunglasses that you used throughout your tenure in the Ivy League? If so, do you reckon I still could find one like that pair today?
@@Selvikus Yes, I still have the pair of the sunglasses. Couldn't be without them. I'm thinking of putting them on the market at £50.000,00. Do you think that's reasonable price?😀😀😀
@@JohnCarterUKSongwriter To be frank, I think you should take that pair to your grave. It's a part of your identity haha. What an amazing live performance, not a bum note in all of it. No auto tune either. First class!

Their own composition, singing live, playing live oh for a bit more of that these days, truly glorious writing.
BBC Live version, no tweaks, no Autotune just beautiful.
Glad you like it! Much appreciated! Best, John 😉
It is my favorite song by Ivy League. Timless classic
Great to hear that. Much appreciated. Best John. 😉
I like your taste sir, but if you have heard The Ivy League sing “ That’s why I’m crying”, then you have heard even better harmony.
Wow... I never heard this BBC live version before. This is one of my favorite songs. The harmonies are fantastic, superb performance, thanks for uploadin' :D

This was an overseas world service programme probably for armed forces. I recall Brian mentioned this on his s.ot.s show.
Sublime harmonies and an outstanding song. The talent of the composer needs more recognition. On a par with Lennon and McCartney. Brilliant. 💕
Much appreciated! Best, John
Agree with you 100%.. amazing.
