The Roman Catholic Church basically teaches you can get out of purgatory faster by: having a mass, by saying the Rosary, watching the pope on TV following the Pope on twitter, visiting relics, holy sites, wearing the scapular, ect... and therefore the RCC rejects that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was sufficient to forgive and cleanse the true, born again believer from all their sins. The Roman Catholic Church does not teach that a believer has the righteousness of Jesus Christ credited to their account and therefore they do not know where they will go when they die.
I know this is an old thread, but misinformation cannot be left without a rebuttal. The Catholic Church teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and the grace of God, and that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was sufficient to forgive sins. Purgatory is not a "second chance" at salvation, but rather a process of purification that prepares a soul for its ultimate union with God in heaven. While the Catholic Church does teach that certain spiritual practices can help to expedite a soul's journey through purgatory, such as those mentioned in the statement (e.g. attending Mass, praying the Rosary, visiting Holy sites), these practices are not seen as a substitute for the grace of God or the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. They are seen as ways of participating in the Church's communal life and seeking to deepen one's relationship with God. Furthermore, the Catholic Church teaches that through faith in Jesus Christ, believers are justified and receive the righteousness of Christ. While the Catholic Church understands this process of justification slightly differently than some Protestant denominations, it affirms that believers can have confidence in their salvation and know that they will go to heaven if they remain in a state of grace.
