Cary Grant conducts Brahms

- Cary Grant waves his arms in front of (and a little behind) Brahms's Academic Festival Overture. So many conductors forget to use the open-mouth smile, especially effective when directed at a pretty woman in the audience.
[NB 12/25: just noticed that the picture is blown out when viewed using the RUclips app on my Apple TV. When I play it on my iPad or iPhone using either the dedicated app or in a browser, it’s fine. If anybody knows why this should be, or how to fix it, please get in touch.]
(This is the finale of the 1951 movie "People Will Talk.")
Very different movie..love it. The players & music are wonderful 🎉
Absolute JOY.
@Music Lover deplored that "So many conductors forget to use the open-mouth smile".
How right you are, because this adds so much to the music! And that waving his arms with maximum exuberance makes Cary Grant look as if he was about to take off and ... 'Fly Like an Eagle' or at least like 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull'.😉

just so exhilarating !!!!! I wish all of us in the world could slow down and sing together like this. old school. ...
Is it Brahms?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Of course he is just miming to a soundtrack - if they had just put the visual a little ahead of the audio, it would look less absurd.
Cary's looking a bit loopy...maybe lysergic acid diethylamide in the center of his hard candies?
Unrealistic in every way
It's real, dammit. It's Cary Grant and it's real.
@@thetexasgreek to paraphrase Mr. Grant, when asked what he thought of when told a million other men wanted to be like Cary Grant, he replied "So do I."
@@michaelshaw1245 I know. I am 53 and have been a fan since the age of 12.
Really terrible print of the film. How can anyone make any sense of it?

Why not? Everybody else does.
