You know what's up! I remember this brother back in the day! He reminded me of Jackie Wilson's style of dance and moves! These youngsters don't know what REAL music is today. Back in the day we had dance music, message music, and music to rap to a girl by; not this loud sc(rap) garbage! I wish I could turn back the hands of time!

Sweeter as the Days go by and Rhythm and many other classic songs he recorded, he also recorded for Motown if you didn't know...he was the top northern soul artist for years overseas until his passing..that's when Edwin Starr took his spot. But in England he is view as the Micheal Jackson star there and is much appreciated..YES! he needs to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame..and by the way do a showcase video on Otis Leavil..he another artist that needs recognition I see you mention him in this video he deserves as much..and thank you for this..your doing your research real well. I'm hoping you oneday do and 70's soul group the Carstairs, The Modulations, etc. Thanks for the video. Keep posting them .

Nice vid, but check your geography - Cabrini Green was NOT on the 'northwest side of Chicago.' Cabrini could be considered north central, directly west of the Gold Coast. That neighborhood back then was called the Near North Side. As for Major, I spent my formative years seeing him perform at the Regal. And Chicagoans can tell who Curtis Mayfield was producing, b/c you can hear it. I still have music by him.

Obviously it's has to be a Hall of Fame for Soul Music. His 60s work is the highlight here. If you get a song written or produced by Curtis Mayfield. It's a hit!!! The album "Now Arriving" was from Motown but that went nowhere.

I remember back in the 1960s Major Lance working in Harry's Drug Store on the northside of Chicago. He was always busy doing 10 things at one time, he dressed sharp and would win all the dance contests. "Thank You" Major Lance for your contribution to timeless music and I "Thank God" because I am still here in 2024 to remember the good old days...♥

You got that rite! ALL of those artist both men and women stayed sharp and dressed to the T. These sc(rappers) and hip(sloppers) today are nothing but worthless lame ducks! I remember a club in Chi called Slicks where the musicians played in front of a window inside the club. They didn't worry about drive-by shootings and thangs. Chi was that thang back in the 60s. WVON radio was poppin with the best dj's.

Rhythm and Minkey Tume was basically the only 2 sings that was worth it, most of his songs had no variations, of course those were the days of experimental ,had he had Smokey Robinson or Holland Dozier type of weitter/producer's, he would have been bigger,by the way, you can see where R.Kelly got his dance style from.
