You people who say he is using auto tune in this live performance have a deaf ear and have no right to judge music. There are many times where he/they are off pitch slightly, which is natural because no one is perfect. Also where someone said at 1:55 it was obvious there was auto tune is also wrong. The auto tune they think they hear is the harmony of the ladies voice with the organ sound of her electric piano, simple as that. Some people are just musically deaf and dumb it's really sad..... I think he did a pretty good job, he was abviously tense and nervous but still a job well done despite some errors. I really enjoyed this and compared to the auto tuned album this sounds better in my opinion.

It's incredible how much Adam's singing has gotten better over the past years. When I watch older videos like this of him singing live, his voice is a little shaky and he sings some notes a bit off-key. But when I watch newer videos from concerts, his voice is confident and he sings every note in tune. Search for "How I Became the Sea - Owl City Live" by Moosteen. His voice is perfection.
I love the fact that he makes vocal mistakes - it's encouraging to others who aren't that great that you can do well even if you aren't absolutely perfect. And it's a pretty good performance anyway...

He had to quickly put a group together & start performing because the record co he signed with said so, because fans were screaming for it! No they don't sound good here & their inexperience is obvious + sound issues, but they got better & are now a great live act ! 👍🏻

That's because in the studio, they can record each instrument and voice one at a time over and over again under acoustically controlled conditions until they get the BEST take from each performer. Then they put them all together and tweak the levels for a perfect mix. That's why it isn't as good live.
+Ander TGA When Adam first started Owl City his vocals weren't as well rounded as they are now. This video is from 2009 after the release of Ocean Eyes, which is Adam's second full album. After Ocean Eyes came ATBAB (2011) and that is when his voice has changed for the better. He is a much better singer now, I've seen it first hand by going to his shows. I've seen him play live in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2015. The ATBAB was a HUGE show in comparison to the first time he was touring in 2009. Giant stage, fantastic light show, and a lot more instruments used in unique ways that you could only experience live. Adam really knows how to put on a great show and his stage presence is on point. He's not only a better singer now than he was when he first started, he also can play the guitar, drums, keyboard, and piano. To me that shows major talent. I can't do any of those things. I have great respect for him as an artist. Not many artists can do all the things Adam does. Shoot, a lot of popular artists don't even write their own lyrics! Live from LA is his only live performance that has been recorded and is a good representation of his talent. That was from his ATBAB tour.
