Awesome to see an Ex-Landmark unit. Looks weird with the repainted tailgate. Decent roar it's got for a Mack.

Not familiar with Landmark, what state are they out of? Yeah sounded pretty nice

SoCalGarbageTrucks Landmark operated here in L.A. They serviced apartments that were owned by the same company, Landmark Property Management. They also had an Amrep Octagonal Front loader which after the buy-out by So-Cal was never seen again.

Only just began the video but I have to say Im thrilled theres more footage of this particular truck. I got teased back when I got 3 clips of it at one stop nearly a year ago now. Certainly is cool to see an old east coast truck living out west. For a few more months at least.. Definitely enjoyed this one

Woah that sounded great! I love the sound of these old diesel Macks. Haha funny to see the helper throw things into the hopper himself, I'm sure that sped things up though. Didn't know SoCal had this truck actually, I thought the only E-Z Pack was the Mack with the pusher. I find it really funny how only the tailgate is repainted (unless it came from a different truck?) Quite an impressive catch, SoCal has some great FLs. Awesome job! And still enjoying the new camera ;-)

Thanks Aaron! I love the sound too! My guess is that the tailgate came from another truck. I was really pleased to find this as well, probably a personal favorite of mine as of now! Appreciate the comment and feedback!

Oh man what an awesome awesome find. Beast of a truck all on it's own, let alone seen out of its element like this. The evidence this thing is a transplant is everywhere. Slow arm cycles tailored to dumping a single 6 or 8yd rather than a string of 3s and 4s per stop. The SoCal style dumpsters with fork pockets at the top make for lots of spills and then a slow full height blade that again is overkill for this work but perfectly suited to clearing the hopper filled to the brim with much wetter, heavier garbage. I think the marriage of the two styles would go over really well. Smaller cylinders, add outside controls, lighter gauge steel in a few places and your could even put it on a MRU for a truck which would look pretty much the same as this one. Oooooo or what about a short blade with follower? Lots of possibilities.
That Mack really takes the whole thing to the next level. The MACK badge just slightly off center, loud and proud. Dayton cast spokes naturally. One of my favorite features about all the older diesels in general is the huge contrast in noise between idle and rev. 5:32 shows it well. Seems like the newer stuff makes a constant vacuum cleaner drone no matter what they're doing. The sooty exhaust sure looks cool but honestly don't hate the fact that newer trucks are so much cleaner. IDK why anyone would prefer the roll down style windows to the sliding ones here. They're just too small. Not enough to see out of properly and don't look nearly as cool. Great video. Watched it a few times over now and I'm sure I'll be back for more.

Thank you very much for the lengthy comment! I appreciate what you had to say, and you pointed out some very good things - many of which I noticed and enjoyed probably just as much as you did. Good to know those are called Dayton cast spokes (now I will stop calling them star wheels lol!). Thats interesting what you said about the different window styles. Seems like the roll down ones have been much more popular. Again, very glad you've enjoyed it. I have a few videos of yours that I go back to now and again as well!

Great video Eli! It's too bad that after this whole franchising stuff kicks in this company i sporobably gonna go out of buisiness. I never expectd such an extraordinary and unusual beast like this from SoCal Waste! The tailgate, star rims, and the smoke like at 3:41 made the truck super cool. Nice job and great find lol sorry it took so long to comment.

Gracias senor! It will certainly be sad if SoCal waste goes down the drain.... The star rims were definitely my favorite. No problem about the comment - not required but appreciated!

Awesome video! I always love commercial collections. The driver was slow but really smooth when dumping the bins which was neat to see. Man there was a lot of spillage when he was dumping, especially on the cab cover. I really like those yellow bins too cause they remind me of IWS here in Fresno lol

Thank you! Slow due to its age for the most part. I didn't get it on film, but the driver climbing up the cab to sweep the fallen debris back into the hopper. Thanks again!
