- Thirty-one-year-old Amanda Martinez was arrested Wednesday, charged with a Class A misdemeanor, assault causing bodily injury, according to Bell County Sheriff's Department. Restaurant manager Janelle “Nelly” Broland says she had nose bleeds after Martinez allegedly threw soup in her face. Thankfully, the hot soup had cooled down, but Broland says the experience was still painful. If convicted, Martinez faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.

the money is paid to victim advocates (in the court), where victims file a claim for financial compensation. this way the victim doesn't have to wait around for the offender to pay or claim they can't pay etc. or have to chase the offender to comply.

I've been through it several times. My worst experience was last year in December, no joke. It was back to back, into 3 hospitals, except the 3rd one was only in admission intake but not the Dr & staff. 🙃

Working customer service is horrible at times! I’m I cashier at a grocery store and I had to stand up to a customer, we have this new bagger, and he was doing the best he could, but the customer was being a creep and saying to the bagger you don’t know what your doing, and I said to him, it’s his first day today! And he’s like well someone should show him what to do! But he kept apologizing and I’m like no you don’t have to be sorry he was being a jerk!

I agree, I’ve seen it at a shoe store in Hawaii. The customer was charged an extra $2 for donation. She was upset and wanted to get her money back and return the shoes. She did not accept the cashiers apology or just silently accepted the refund she just kept going on about how she already donates to her church and felt robbed, and blah blah blah. I’m like 😩 it’s an extra $2 that went to donation for children with cancer, come on. I really don’t get people who goes to such great lengths to complain.

The lid was a bit puckered but it wasn't moulton lava and she was able to carry the soup to the counter with no problem. She was being ridiculous. I hope she does get jail time. This behaviour should never be tolerated.

I’d much rather do a year in mail than have a video of my actions go viral for the entire world to see. Public shaming is much more effective than probation. I’m pretty sure that the employee was handling things just fine mentally. Besides, if we place liability on others when they supposedly cause us anguish or trauma, it means lawsuits would increase in everyone’s lives by 500%. Physical harm is one thing, but emotional harm only happens if you let it.
