    Hi Jeff, I am graduating high school this week. I wanted to thank you, because years ago your video, the PMDG 737 back in fsx, had come up when I decided to look up flight simulator out of curiosity. I was so impressed when I saw that it was possible to fly on a computer, and began to learn everything I could about aviation. It changed my life, and sparked a passion for learning . I spent many hours over the next few years on many RUclips videos, flight sim hours , and so much more learning. I am now going to engineering school through lots of hard work, and have to thank you for beginning my interest in science and aviation, thinking of all of the ways I can make life better for everyone, and honestly questioning everything in general. I’ve had great days and terrible days, but aviation was always something I could come back to. I know one video isn’t responsible for all of that, but I think it is important to note that small things like a video can have an enormous impact of the lives of others. Wishing you well, Zach B.

    Just want to say thanks for keeping these going, sometimes I'll do the same flight in my old x-plane VR setup (MSFS didn't support VR or fully native VR controls for so long I never really considered it and even now it feels risky). But you've helped me push myself so much more, using the FMS, LNAV, and cold dark starts. I flew this last night after watching yours and just wanted to say thanks.

    Hey Jeff! Hope you're having a great week. Have to point out that I watch quite a few aviation related channels, and one or two of them have come out with some PMDG 737 videos way before you, but you are the one I always wait for to give a demo of the third party "high end" simulations of aircraft. Something about the way you edit the videos, the flow of it all, and the ability to directly relate what you do to my own flight Simulation. The fact that you find a way to be versed in the aircraft you fly, but at the same time make it seem like even a guy like me can take this complicated piece of machinery out for a joyride aircraft makes these videos that much more enjoyable. Not to mention you have a very soothing voice! I find myself clicking one of your videos late at night and then next thing you know I'm waking up to my alarm, don't worry I always come back and rewatch the whole thing though! Definitely would pay to have an audio book or two read by you! Haha

I don't know what it is but I really enjoy these fall back relaxing videos where we fly, see some scenery and just chat.. just like ATS! And to be perfectly honest Jeff, out of all the creators I watch, you're the only one I watch when you drop the MSFS and ATS videos.. I don't know what it is but hey, it happens and if course I show my support by giving a like and leaving a comment because that works and helps you out just as much because more interaction on your videos with comments and likes puts you into the algorithm to be shown to more people and their feeds and that can lead to you getting more subs and more supporters!

    Little tip: 73's dont do flight control check on the displays. The control check is us simply moving the flight controls around for freedom. The Captain takes care of the rudder, the FO takes care of the rest. As long as they move freely, they are good. Other airplanes do have a flight control surface position indicator on their displays. The reason the 737 doesn't require one is because our flight controls have manual reversion, meaning we can move the flight controls without the hydraulic systems active. The flight controls are manual (like a Cessna or Piper) with a hydraulic boost (like a power steering system). Manual reversion won't be fun, but it can be done. Other planes such as the DC-10, MD-11, 777, 747, Airbus, etc have full hydraulic flight controls. This means that you are not moving the controls manually at all. When you move the yoke/stick/rudder pedals, you are positioning a hydraulic metering valve which varies the amount of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic actuators that are actually moving the flight control surfaces. So, there is no tactile feedback to where the flight controls are actually at vs where you commanded them to be. Therefore, on these full hydraulic flight control airplanes, the flight control surfaces are equipped with LVDTs (linear variable displacement transducers) or RVDTs (rotary variable displacement transducers). These are attached to the flight control and provide a feedback signal to the flight control computers and ....you guessed it....the flight control position indicator. It's a bit technical, but that's the old mechanic/avionics tech coming out of me. Sorry.

    This plane looks great, but the only thing I see wrong with it is the climb rate after takeoff. Like you mentioned, it looked to be climbing like a rocket and idk how realistic that is. It reminds me of the A320 at first in MFS2020, but they’ve since corrected that issue and it climbs more realistically now.

    Great video Jeff, just wondering, why dont you just descend at TOD point? Seems like you always descend earlier, just wondering if I am missing something when I fly this aircraft. Is it just worry that you wont make your waypoints if you use the aircraft's TOD point?

    • @jfavignano
      @jfavignano  2 года назад +1

      most Boeing pilots descend around 20nm to 15nm before TOD, it's normal practice as it is easier on passengers with the rate of descent. If you wait until the TOD it will be fine it will just be more use of speed brakes and heavier fpm values. If you slowly descend on the RNP path it is much easier to manage. That is my take after talking with a lot of Boeing pilots.
