Important to include as well is the principle of consultation. The institutions are required to consult partiest of interest (e.g. Cor, EESC or political groups) during the legislative process. If this is not done, the legislative act is automatically invalid as stated in article 263 TFEU. “The European Parliament, the Council and the Commission shall be assisted by an Economic and Social Committee (...) acting in an advisory capacity.” (Art. 13 TEU)
Thanks for the video. At 3.12 is it "members of the European Council" or "the Council of the EU" ? "The Conciliation Commission is comprised of members of the European Council and an equal number of members of the European Parliament, or MEPs." It should be the Council of the EU I think.
Great question. Short answer is it depends. Longer answer is that some legislation requires member states pass "enabling legislation" to enact the EU's policies at the national level. Other items are adopted once passed by the EU without the need for further action by its member states.
To be clear , eventhoug the parliament is elected directly by individuals of the member states, the EP is supranational and represents the interest of the citizens of the EU, not their own nations interest, am I right? Thanks in advance
Yes, that's correct. MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) are elected by the people of the Member States directly (in national elections) and represent the interests of the people who elected them (which may or may not align with the interests of the Member State governments). Hope that helps! Good luck!
Extremely clear explanation, great video!

great informative channel. helpful
@NoahZerbe Once approved by the parliament of a member state, is the EU label simply removed, making it as if it is national legislation?
