  • The Rode VideMic Pro Plus is probably the best Mic you can put on your camera. It is perfect for Vlogging and also indoor use and I really fall in love with it. It´s the priciest one, but in reward, you get the best functionality, especially the auto-on and auto-off feature, and you will get the best quality within a small form factor. Check out the unboxing and the first Hands-On as well as my explanation of all the basic features.

    What is your favorite Rode mic?

  • @PeterMossUkulele
    @PeterMossUkulele 3 года назад +12

    Just a tip - If you set the microphone to +20db gain, set your camera input gain to the lowest level. The theory is the pre amp in the mic is going to be far superior with lower noise (Hum and hiss) than with the pre turned up in the camera. At the end of the day, a camera is a camera and the audio, whilst useable, is not going to be as goos as a dedicated audio device. I enjoyed your video though and subscribed to your channel.

    The safety channel audio feature was beautifully noticed when you demonstrated it. The difference is clearly audible. I am listening to this video with a Sony WH 1000XM3 headphone. I was finding it hard to understand till you demonstrated that difference. Thanks

    Nice video man! Thanks so much for making this! This is my favorite video I've seen on this mic so far! I like how you stayed in the same place (on your balcony) to cycle through the different settings. That is very useful for someone like me! Thanks again!

    How was the mic? Im comsidering rode pro plus and deity d3 pro. The only one reason i prefer rode is the mic can turn on automatically when camera turn on. So i helps me a lot as a run n gun shoter

    Should I use the high frequency when I’m behind the camera I’ve notice my voice is more basey and muffled behind

    Am I able to duplicate the audio channel later, using the safety feature, in order to get equal volume on both sides?
    Thanks

    • @TheIdeaofTechnology
      @TheIdeaofTechnology  5 лет назад +2

      Yes, definitely. In your favorite video editing software simply pick the left or right channel an switch to mono. This way you can pick the channel without clipping and make the volume equal on both channel sides. You wouldn’t be able to use stereo anyway so this is perfectly fine.

    i wonder when recording festivals or street parades which are noisy would you leave all the settings off except maybe high frequency boost on when using a dead cat?

    • @TheIdeaofTechnology
      @TheIdeaofTechnology  4 года назад +1

      Yep, sounds like a plan to me. Maybe check in between if the sound is clipping.

    Nice video man... feel that you could have shown us your preferred way to set mic up which would have made this video more better. For Example I generally use: camera sound level at 25%, mic settings 0 dB, 150 high pass filter and in post I use a compressor.

    • @TheIdeaofTechnology
      @TheIdeaofTechnology  4 года назад

      Thanks. That's a good idea. I will try that in my upcoming videos.

    My room has quiet and echo and the -10 seems to work quiet well for me, so should I use both the safety channel and high pass filter inside too

    • @TheIdeaofTechnology
      @TheIdeaofTechnology  5 лет назад +1

      I think the safety channel is always a good idea in my opinion for some expected peaks in the audio. The high pass filter is more likely an outdoor feature.

    Have you looked into balancing your levels. Overall except for the -10Db demo there's a lot of distortion in the sound. This mike should be able to perform better!

    I have this mic. Anyone have a hard time charging it? I left it on charger for like a whole day and it wouldn't charge up. Then took the battery out put it back in and it seemed like it was scratched on the battery. It finally charged but that was very odd for new mic.

    The Rode manual says the Auto Power feature will ONLY work if the camera supplies plug-in power. I tried connecting a mic to a Canon XA20 camcorder and a Canon Vixia HF R72 and the auto power feature did not work. Do Canon camcorders generally not provide plug-in power? Just some DSLR cameras? Who can provide information on this?
