Western museums harbour treasures often plundered over the ages. African art is particularly affected, but this also applies to indigenous peoples from around the world. While a restitution movement is underway, major institutions like the British Museum still refuse to return stolen works. We followed the activists of the British collective Looty, who digitize and 3D print stolen artworks to make them public.

Because they have nothing to display, so stolen art is ok.

You can't return something you've earned! Africa was colonized, and that was it, they lost!

You mean preserving. If it were left, then the savages would've destroyed it.

@@sharonbinns5937The African art wasn't the property of any African country either. To make an analogy, if a British artist were to create a work of art, that art does not belong to Britain, but to either the artist or whomever bought the art. It is the same with African art. The African countries do not have an innate right to the art just because the art originated in Africa.

This is something I have a vested interest in, Māori artifacts were plundered during and after the pre colonial and colonial eras, I would also like to see Egypts Mummies and treasures returned to where they were stolen from. It completely negates the entire Egyptian afterlife concept by robbing the very mechanism of life after death.... Greed, racism and entitlement.... This needs addressing
