i think the "400 year old" is intentional misleading. and you keep saying 17th century is stared to grind my gear. so, here is a bone. there is a earthen figure call Dogū, its made in the later part of the Jōmon period. i think that alien is way older but the people that say 400 year old are unreliable narrator, so the author can drop the plot twist later in the story.

I have a different theory about how Haruko are created, and it probably has to with the disease-- the aliens must have engineered it, flung it into the comet and is only compatible with humans that have certain mental capability, what requirements? we'll have to wait ig
