AIWAYS U5 - CHEAP EV. IS IT ANY GOOD?

The Aiways U5 was introduced in 2019 to the world by Aiways from China.
The Aiways brand was founded in 2017.
The Aiways U5 is a relatively large family car with good space in the cabin. However, it only has three stars in Euro NCAP, and the car also has no heat pump, which can be seen in the consumption in the video.

- Battery: 63 KWh (total) 60 KWh (net)
- DC Charging: Peak at 90 KW (20% - 80%: 35 min)(My test: 10% - 80% 47 min with cold battery)
- Consumption: 166-170 WH/km (My consumption: 260 WH/km with many short trips)
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h: 7,8 sec. (My test was 7,6 sec)
- Top speed: 150 (limited) (not tested by me)
- Trailer capacity: 1.500 kg (with brakes)

Nice video. I have the MY22 Prime model since a couple of weeks. My experience related to consumption is much better: Two weeks ago 300km without charging (mostly highway at 100km/h) and 17kWh/100km according display, started at 99% and 15% SOC left.

3 star Euro NCAP is not average, it's rubbish. To be honest unless a car launches with a 5 star rating, it isn't good enough

it is probably a Danish transaktion which is perceived a little incorrectly in English. I am sorry about that. However, the car's cabin is stable in the event of a collision, but it lacks equipment to achieve a better rating

@@jimirosa don’t worry your English was fine, 3 out of 5 is a mathematically average score. My point was that an average score in NCAP is actually a poor result, basically any new car should get a 5

@@bill_heywood Just for your information, the 3 stars are due to under performing pedestrian detection and pedestrian crash avoidance active safety systems, not with the crash safety for the occupants in the car.

I agree that the range is quite poor. But I actually think that the perceived quality of the car feels high.
