Just discovered your channel and I’m enjoying your topics! Character spotlight is an excellent idea. I think focusing on particular characters is a way to look into a story from a very specific and meaningful way. My heart hurt for Boxer. Good choice.
@@ingridfitz5677 Thank you! Yeah, I think I’ll stick with that idea, I liked doing it and think it’ll make for a nice content change on my channel. I feel like I’m in a bit of a rut lol. And Boxer! Right?! I was devastated! But it was his innocence and naivety that really made him THE stand out for me in that book!
Love the idea of spotlighting characters. They truly do make the book what it is. I sometimes like to specifically highlight minor/side characters as they can often add the most flavor.
@@RandomReadingPathways I need to keep that in mind when I do these in the future. I was a little disappointed with this because I didn’t really follow through with what I was looking for but I know what I want to fix now. This was just an experiment to me.
@@kevintowle9665 Thank you, sir! I’m a little disappointed with it but like I said this is an experiment so I do like the idea so I think I know now what little tweaks and fixes I need to do to achieve what I’m looking for with it.
@@book-ramble I’ve always been a character-driven reader as I believe, fictional though they may be, we can learn loads from book characters as they are literary representations of the true human experience. I place great value in characters (yes, even the villainous as they can teach us NOT to be certain ways) because I often look for moralistic traits to relate to. I hope I have started something and maybe it’ll spread?
@@Travsbookshelf I think it will spread... and it should. I agree with you wholeheartedly - we read and remember characters because we learn from them!
Trav!! Thank you so much for the shout out and for linking our video. You are a nice guy!! I love this idea so much. You can go so deep on certain characters and really get into it. I also liked your ideas at the end regarding a scene spotlight or quote spotlight. I think you should do all 3. Could be fun. Chauncey !!!!! Can’t wait for you to read book 2!!!! Woohoo. -Joe
@@BookBuds Thank you so much! And you’re welcome for the shoutout, ALWAYS wanna support and promote my BookBuds! I do like the idea although I was a bit disappointed by it but mostly at myself because I didn’t execute it the way I said I wanted and it kind of veered off into a favorites territory, which is not really what I wanted to fully focus on. So now I know what to fix. I will definitely try to do all 3 but I’ll admit I’m a little hesitant to do a scene spotlight as that may be a potential spoiler factor so I’ll have to be careful with those. And of course Chauncey!! I mean, how could I not lol? I am soooooo looking forward to that book!
@ we learn and we grow. You’re the boss of your channel so you get to call the shots which is great. I loved the video and I’m sure the next one will be just as entertaining. For the scene spotlight you can pick something significant in the beginning of the book or something that is included in the synopsis of the book and still have a great discussion. Can’t wait ! Go Trav!!!
@@ALatteThoughts I’ll have to check out the ones you have done. I knew this wasn’t a general original idea, just new for my content personally since I’ve been in a rut lately lol

Thanks!
@@Adventures_in_Literature They are awesome fantasy reads. I hope you like them if you get into them.
A great idea, Trav! We SHOULD talk more about those characters who resonate. Hmmm... you have started something.
