+Paul Baran Well actually in the DVD, Scorsese only shows 3-4 Welles films. He doesnt show Macbeth or The Trial. But he has discussed "the trial" elsewhere as a great film, I think on an interview about Shutter Island. Kubrick isnt in this video but is mentioned way more on the DVD etc. Welles is number 1 influence on most directors polls.
Yeah there it is, everything you ever wanted to know about all those great movies you never saw. I saw some of em on the Million Dollar Movie just like Marty. Props for the presentation if not the creation. Damn Marty I want more, I will definitely go to Personal Journey. Again thanks for a compressed essence of movie history that hits no false notes
Something I noticed watching 'mean streets' yesterday was a the scene where Johnny Boy is introducing the two ladies to his friends shortly after trying to check-in his pants at the coat stall is that one of the ladies introduces herself as 'Sandra Weintraub' and at the beginning of the credits the pre-production and the post-production coordinator is none other than 'Sandra Weintraub'
Damn I have only seen like 20 films he listed, I really loved hearing him mention films like One, Two, Three and Journey to Italy which are IMO kinda overlooked but he didnt even mention any of the films he picked in his sight and sound voting so I wouldnt call this his definitive favourites list.
+B.J. Funk It is a three hour dvd you can buy of Marty talking about films from the 1940's through to the 1970's. Basically from when he was a kid till when he started making films. And of course Kubrick is included, Barry Lyndon in particular he talks about. Plus this video includes wayyy more Orson Welles than is in the DVD etc.
Scorcese is a living treasure. He speaks film like no other...
He's a piece of shit. Okay...by your standards, a living piece of shit.
@@jeffsmith8197 elaborate
Jeff Smith you're a piece if shit
He loves Orson welles fanatically. He puts up seven of his films as examples of great cinema.

He certainly is. But there are other great directors as well I guess.
All great directors must be Welles fanatics
This is a film buffs delight! Scorsese is a national treasure! Watch his speech in AFI tribute to Antonioni. A master speaking of a master 🎉
You can tell Marty worked very hard at his craft and really transcended his own expectations I'd say
I can honestly listen to Scorsese talk about movies for hours!
Amazing Video. Martin Scorsese is one of my favorite directors.
It's the song used in the opening (and throughout) Scorsese's "Bringing out the dead" (1999). Great song.
Quiet, everyone. Scorsese's talking.
You had me at "Martin Scorsese Talks Movies"
Mahn! Orson welles was way ahead of his time.
Scorsese Legend!
Martin Scorsese - A living legend

haha, I like how whenever the films start being listed in slideshow order, Rolling Stones start playing
Some come running and carnivale make me love carnivale even more
Marty, Marty, Marty, Marty.

Cool. Been watching it these days.
There's a video here on youtube of Scorsese talking about "2001", look it up. He loves Kubrick.

You just saved me a month's worth of work. Thanks!
Marty is a walking encyclopedia of the history of cinema. The man is a true cinematic master or, rather, poetic artist.
His voice sounds complete different in a voice over.
The guy who started my movie mania
Just noticed that. It's actually directed by Luchino Visconti.
Detail: in 18:32 it shows "Rocco and his brothers" by Rossellini (1960), whereas it is directed - in fact - by Luchino Visconti.
"Derek and the Dominos - Layla (Piano Exit)"... It's used in a Classic scene in GOODFELLAS.
I fuckin' love you DonRMB.
The very beginning song is TB sheets by Van Morrison, such a good song
Genius!
Unless I missed it, not one Kubrick film? I thought he loved Kubrick.
i think he forgot

Lewis C Ah okay, thanks. Yeah I knew Barry Lyndon was his favorite Kubrick film.
What song at 22:34!
George W Kush Layla piano outro by Derek and the dominoes
Seems he's not a big science fiction fan. And nothing from Kubrick?
TB Sheets? Way to go for obscure Van, man
18:30 Rocco and his brothers - ROBERTO ROSSELLINI???????????????? WHAT THE FUCK?!!!
Awesome video. I love Marty so fucking much.
What was the song at the end of the video?
More like Scorcese talks for 5 min and then i add alot of random clips to trick people into beliving the clip is 25 minutes long...
What about Weekend at Bernie's?
I dont understand ...did he produced all this movie ? I mean martin Scorsese...can somone explain this....thanks.
How could he recommend the Heaven's Gate? The film is an opulent botch.
Wow .... I've got to see all these movies now!
Great video *thumbs up*
