as an African American woman who knows that the better part of the world cannot physically digest dairy products I have to say that one thing that hit me in adulthood is how utterly assbackwards we are to think that cow milk is better for humans than human milk. No I am not out here drinking breast milk. The enzyme that breaks milk down in infancy is turned off shortly after and therefore no one actually needs it after the fact. The slim group of people who have essentially genetically mutated to still produce this enzyme after infancy is just that, slim. but they hold lots of power so this trash is marketed to us as healthy. Its on our food pyramid even. Tons of people have been actively lobbying to change it for ages but even milk/dairy is big business- shrugs

Also had a friend that I wasn't very close to but when she invited me to her wedding I was like "yeah love to come". I don't know what religion the groom had but to my knowledge she wasn't really religious and she told me "the wedding will be religious bc he's religious". Cool. Her mom said some pretty standard stuff and read a few verses about love. All good. His mom said all this stuff about submitting to your husband and he had this weird stuff in his vows about loving God. I was so alarmed.
