It should be "people don't want to be slaves anymore! " Instead of "people don't want to work anymore" Many people, particularly the younger generation, use a range of unconventional methods of earning a living these days. I worked in the retail for over 10 years, so l'm quite happy that this is taking place. For too long, retail bullied me and a lot of my employees/colleagues saying things like "if you don't like it,go; another like you is waiting to get into your position " since the COVID, I found a job that helps me grow, pays me more and Values Me Social media cleared the way for a rapidly expanding market, and it taught us a lot. 2020 was my turning point, and investment helped alot!

Exactly. I put in 65 hrs./ wk. and try to save as much as I can. When my car's engine finally gave up I was in a world of hurt financially. Keep in mind, I don't drink or have any extra expenditures that would be considered a waste of money like going out to eat, drug use, or expensive entertainment habits. Meanwhile my Boss/ owner of the business never once offered to help Me get back and forth to work. Not even a used bicycle.
So now I try and take advantage of the company out of pure hatred.

If you're working 80 hours a week and still a paycheck away from homelessness you're making bad financial decisions. Everyone I know who complains about money makes terrible decisions. Buying things they don't need, drugs, alcohol, gambling. It's like people think buying stuff they don't need is a necessity. One guy on Reddit was complaining about not being able to pay off his student loans and people found in his history he spent thousands of dollars on tattoos. His response was, "I have to enjoy life". People think buying things of pleasure is a necessity like food and shelter. People will own two cars, every game console out there, buy a brand new phone every year, go out to eat multiple times a week and not even question it. It's like they are entitled to it.

His point about slavery here is well made. “Even a slave gets food and shelter”. But you literally CAN’T AFFORD those things in some places with a regular job. People need to figure this out.
There’s a “beach town” in the Oregon coast I love called Manzanita - I spoke to a cashier at the store there - just a small family-owned market. They were commuting from PORTLAND, across the mountains, probably a 90 minute drive one way. All of the merchants and home owners seem mistified by the cost of laborers and so forth. Simple fix: create a “tiny-house” park or some basic apartments for employees of town businesses. It’d be simple, and totally doable. Somehow though, that’s “socialism”.

My father got a job at a local dog food plant to finish out working till he could retire. In the few years he worked there he had figured out many ways to increase the production off the lines with hardly any product to be repackaged amongst other smart suggestions that ultimately helped the company make their money. The bosses took notice of him and always wanted to hear his opinions and the owner personally came out to chat with my dad when he was in the building. So when the turnover rate for new workers was really high they asked the ol'man what he thought would help them keep workers. He told 'em flat out "More Money! Ya'll ain't payin' enough to keep folks motivated". He got everybody 2 more dollars on the hour and they had a lot more people willing to stick around.

I was a slave to work because I didn’t recognize my own values and let myself accept bosses that don’t value me at the same time as a reflection of my own inner feeling for myself. I made a choice to value myself and manifested better treating bosses, bigger payments, and more peaceful workspaces until I increased my financial income so I can be my own boss. But it was hardwork and I had to move through the “slave” system mentality because it had something to teach me about myself which was me not valuing myself higher. I believe that ignoring what your outer experience reflects in your inner being is arrogant and I had to learn it myself. I believe if everybody gives their all, values themselves and does quality work, the Universe takes them to better places.
Being poor is expensive. You shouldn’t be a slave to work but sometimes you got to start somewhere and transcend yourself into a better work condition and financial situation so you don’t have to rely on being a slave to the system because you’ve already laid your foundation. Then you can use that foundation to do what you love and work for yourself and thrive in life with your purpose. Just sharing what I learned from my personal experience and I believe everybody has their own experiences that are completely different to the other. That’s where I agree with you Joey that each one of us are unique, complex beings. That’s why what unites us all is unconditional love at the core, and not external personal experiences. If we would focus on each one of our complexities and differentiations, we would be always resentful, angry and apathetic with each other and never agree because we would be looking at our external differences. But looking inside there’s one thing we can all agree on and that is being loving with one another. Even the most hateful piece of shit person can’t deny that being loved, cared and treated good by someone feels good and they wouldn’t trade that good feeling for anything in the world. Even if they deny it externally, they know the truth inside.
At the end of the day, everybody wants to feel good and loved. No matter how much they deny it. Sometimes the lack of receiving love turns into anger and they want to get that feeling of love through control and hurting others, but that is the opposite of unconditional love. It’s not love.

But she’s been with them for only 10. So combined they have 20 years. But make almost what people make at fast food joints. It’s so sad. No retirement no good raises. It’s just gay.

I am very fortunate that I have a good job working for an employee-owned company. I'm paid a good wage, own stock in the company, benefits, etc...
I think it's so very possible for young men to do quite well, especially the earlier they start. Learn a trade. Get good at something. Join a union shop.
Housing is a completely different story though that is priced totally out of control. I don't see how that gets fixed either.

But on the other hand we wouldn’t be a functioning society with out the working class so I guess the seem cuts both ways.

It is kind of like laying sod in the hot Florida sun. I worked for 3 scumbags in Flushing, Queens that had a dry cleaner, car rental and liquor store together. They ran me ragged. Do you know how hot the back of a dry cleaner gets in the summer? I quit after one week. I felt bad for the people that apparently were numb to being used as machines and animals.
Chlorofluorocarbon solvents (especially CFC-113) were introduced for use in dry cleaning in the 1970s; however, because of environmental concerns, their use is declining rapidly. I'm sure it gives you cancer too and who knows what???!!!

I pay for gas, insurance, 15.00 an hour and they leave the store each night (6 hour shift) with at least 100 bucks cash in their pocket Uncle Sam doesn't know about. They get to drive around in sunshine and blast their music all day. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig to me. I have to use DOOR DASH drivers who don't even get an hourly wage to help with deliveries. I pay them 6.99 a delivery. I don't think it's 'that simple'. And the guy you fired on the job site? The applicants we get and hire... 9 times out of 10 they are just like that guy. A waste of time, money, and energy. Thankfully they usually just stop showing up after a few days... sometimes they stick around. When they don't work out, they blast you on FB and on Yelp... like we're just getting rid of good quality workers because we feel like it. We're churning out a generation of morons, Joey. This isn't a 'back in my day' old man yelling at cloud situation. These kids grew up with a technology gap, social media, and so many other destructive variables that we cannot just write this off as a generational gap between the boomers and the young sparkies. The 'nobody wants to work' is just a byproduct of what we're now producing as a country.

Pay people well and treat them well and you’ll have the competitive advantage.

The point is not to pay people or preserve capitalism. We are nearing the end stage of capitalism which is a social credit score and biometric ID markers tied to your currency which will have an expiration date. you will get more currency/credits by following the rules of soyciety. anyone else who does not take the biometric ID marker is banned from soyciety ("mark of the beast").
The point is civil unrest to instill martial law to then perpetuate war/famine/etc. to then be able to implement the new global soyciety. You will own nothing and BE HAPPY. You will take your medicine 💉.

Nice, my Dad was a IAFF FF/Paramedic too for 29 years, he retired early and died a few years later of cancer in 2020. Miss him bad.

Everyone has their own path to follow. Yours sounds like a righteous one to me! God bless. You're amazing. Your mom would be proud of you.

yep, my folks are boomers - i guess you and I are the same generation. last few decades the way we get jobs really changed. your story about your father's job reminds me of the stories my Dad used to tell about how it was when he was my age.

I had a layoff on October and I am living from savings. So, I am working more
than before, without a sallary. I am trying to finish my Indie Games. So, I do work, but the recognition for this work takes more time than working for companies.

New subscriber here. I agree 100% bro I said the exact same thing. The older generation doesn't understand how hard it truly is nowadays. I'm 26 tried getting my first job at 15 at a local pizzeria got told no because I was under age which was horseshit but that's how it was. Nobody trains on careers anymore, most of the older generation didn't have highschool diplomas but where able to learn skilled trades with on the job training we don't get that today. The average salary is 25/28k a year and the average apartment is $12/1500 it doesn't make fuckin sense. Hard.work does not pay off anymore I spent 3 1/2 years as a cook making about 20k a year then got into warehousing/factories and made 25k busted my ass for 5 years in that field. Got shit on stuck doing a 10 man job myself for the same pay, management fuckin sucked they didn't care about anybody just there profits that's the work force today, where all numbers they don't give a damn about us. Than taxes are taking almost 50% of our incomes it's fucked up today!!!
