Suggestion focus your time on completing the ones for your children and immediate family before they outgrow the desire to have them. I know I spent a lot of my time on gifts for others and those I put on the back burner for my children I’m finishing them for my grandchildren now, twenty some years later. I wish I would have finished the stitches for my children. You could probably finish the blanket for your daughter, the dragon for your son and the advent calendar for the family by December. A Christmas gift for your daughter, your son and your family.
I second this suggestion. You have deadlines for your letter fairies and they get done. Perhaps the special ones for your children could be for a specific birthday (10 or 12?). That would get them done. It’s tricky to give a son a “childhood” pattern when they are a teenager. (Ask me how I know!)
So I endorse this comment.
Thank you! Words of wisdom!
For family pieces, I'd focus on the letter fairies as they have a solid deadline, possibly followed by the story time bear as it's "younger" looking (plus it gets a full coverage piece off the list), then dragon rider and the star wars can take turns as they are less cartooney and most people don't outgrow star wars.
(This is assuming knitting woman is finished this year.)
Perhaps you need to schedule a finishing week where you try to ffo as many things as possible? As a reward, you could pull out a diamond painting, or a partially finished sewing project and give yourself a week off stitching.
I loved seeing all your WIPS, so gorgeous, love seeing the sweet lil kitty too, I'm a catlady😁🌼🌺
Loved seeing all your projects again!
I love Smokey! What a beautiful Blue Russian cat!
As far as I know, she's not actually a Blue Russian. Her dad was Siamese and her mom was all black. All of her brothers & sisters in the litter looked Siamese with white fur and grey ears & tails, but she took more after her mom. :)
WOWWWWWWW Bravo Sarah c'est magnifique tu es très inspirante merci de prendre le temps de nous partager ta passion. Bonjour de Montréal 😉
Love the idea of the Celtic ladies! I'm using that idea!
That was the BEST! I absolutely love WIP parades especially yours. I also love full coverage so really enjoy seeing yours and the different way you stich. Thank you for taking the time to share them. The more WIP's the merrier I say.
Loved seeing your wip parade! I agree about stitching just a little on projects that kill the stitchy bug. I will do nothing rather than picking up a project that is a chore. You stitch so neatly. And pick wonderful projects.
That was a totally epic WIP parade! I love a good WIP parade and yours are the best! I really enjoy seeing all your projects and the passion you show for each one. I realize how much work you put into the WIP parade - I enjoy seeing the before and after. Thank you! Took me three sittings to finish this! Have a wonderful couple of weeks.
THREE HOURS! IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS 😆🥰
Hi Sarah, what an awesome video. Loved seeing all your WIPs. It totally amazes me how your just stitch in one area and then count out to a completely different section. I would be no nervous that it wouldn't meet up. Kudos to you. I guess my very favorite section was your fancy ladies. The full coverage is something I love seeing others stitch but would never. Terri Lee told me to watch your channel and I'm so happy I did. This video was a great opportunity to see everything you're stitching. Glad to have subscribed. Happy stitching! Lori at Once Upon a Stitch
Welcome!
i didnt realize you have so many projects with pretty ladies. This is always my favorite video of the year, WIP parade time.
Your stitching is beautiful! I love all the designs. Such a rich and colorful wip parade! And a perfect start with your kitty! Thank you for sharing Sarah! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing all of your beautiful projects. They are so varied , and there are some cute ones amongst them all. It was lovely seeing Smoky and I definitely heard her our this time, she is gorgeous and so affectionate too. Thanks for the time you share with us all. Love and blessings xx
Love the enthusiasm you have for all your wips especially the older ones
Wow, just wow! Such beautiful work. Smokey missed you so much while you were on your trip that she doesn't want to be apart. Plus, you know that cats have staff, so it is your job to open the door.
Thank you Sarah for a fantastic wip parade. I really enjoyed it, thanks for taking the time. You have some really lovely wips. Good to see guest appearances from Smokey too!! Take care and happy stitching 🪡🪡🧵🧵
Sarah, I've had to watch this in spurt and loved every minute! Such great projects and LOTS of enabling and Thank you for spending the time gathering and sharing your work!
Thannnnnk you and Smokey is very patient ❤ I know that I am not the only one doing a lot of wips really really thankful for this community . Just for me many wips means a lot of happiness to me, happy stitching and stay healthy.❤️🌍🧵
Thanks for taking the time to share all your projects 😊🤗
Hi Sarah, it was so nice to revisit your beautiful wips with you. You definitely put a lot of work in on most of them. Well Done. Thank you for sharing, it took away from your family and stitchy time. Stay Healthy. Happy Stitching. ❤❤❤
I always enjoy your Wip parades. Thank you for taking the time to put it all together. Xoxo
Thank you for the update and I hope I never get that many WIPs. If you should ever want to do needlepoint you need to look at 2 things one make sure it is painted and that it is painted in oil paint. There is nothing like finishing a piece to see the paint fade into the wool or silk or whatever. If you buy a printed one you need to look at it closely to make sure it is square with the printed picture, and not printed at an angle.
Awesome wip parade, loved it!
Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to show us your amazing work, just wow! I also like that you use different type of fabrics across your portfolio; verdal, congress, and so on.
I LOVE a WIP parade and this was one of the best. You are so organized and so talented in your stitching. Thank you for taking the time to share.
I thought I had a lot of WIPS, around the 70 mark, and I am still starting things. I love all your projects.💖💖💖
What an amazing group of projects! I know having that many on the go would stress me out, but I enjoy watching all the same.
My favorite part of the chat your sister gave you is the castle.
Wow! It was great to see all your WIPS! Thank you for taking all the time and effort to make such a great video. Happy stitching 🧵
Thank you so much Sarah for your WIP parade. I know they are a ton of work to gather everything together. Wonderful finishes. I had forgot all about your Mill Hill snowflake. That one looks like it will be hard to cut out. It really is amazing how much you got done on Knitting Woman this year. I am starting mini The Nativity this month on 18 ct. Not sure if I am going to try tent stitch or full crosses yet. Happy stitching.
Have fun on your Nativity! I like a 2 strand full cross on 18 count. I haven't done a half stitch on 18 count, but I would try 3-4 strands for that to make sure your coverage is good.
really enjoying your wip parade. so many with special stitches that you have inspired me. I follow you since 1 year ago but never realized you were doing so many. best regards from northern spain
I just wanted to let you know that I loved seeing all of your projects You are an amazing woman to have that many started keep going on girl you’ll make it
Wow, so much fun!! Thanks for sharing all your stitching , really beautiful!
The Halloween fairy was so pretty and cute that I immediately went to Herrschners and bookmarked it
I always love seeing your WIP parade every year. It is fun to see it in September since so many are done in January. I loved seeing your progress on your WIPS!! Have fun stitching on all of them.
Beautiful wips! It would be so hard to choose what to focus on to finish. Variety is the spice of life, and your wips are of such a variety and complexity. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this. Smoky is so cute; she missed you while you were gone.
This has been so much fun! Thank you for taking the time to share with us. Always love to see the Smoky appearances.
So many great projects! Can’t wait to see more of your progress
Thank you Sarah, epic wip parade! Good to spend this time with you x
i loooooved watching this video!! so many beautiful wips!! and so much work for editing this video!!! thank you so much!! happy stitching 😀
Yeah! Amazing projects. I loved seeing your progress especially on knitting woman. X
Thanks for showing all of your WIPs. I watched in two sessions. You have enabled me. I started my first full coverage piece - Maybe Not by Artecy.
I'm excited to see your 2023 plans. And I sure hope all of your projects get some love this year!
Love all your finishes you had this year and love all your wips. They are gorgeous. Happy stitching!
This video is awesome. Really like to see all your beautiful wips. Thank you for all the work that you did to make this video. Happy stitching!
What a treat. Fabulous WIP parade.
{sigh}...all the enabling that has happened! Thank you for sharing - it was a joy to watch!! 💗
Just love your WIP Parades. All your projects are so beautiful, plus it makes me feel not so bad that someone else has a large amount of WIP’s like me. I just want to start everything.
Wow. Was good seeing some projects I haven’t seen in a while. You have a lot of beautiful wips. Would love to see you work on some of the older ones we haven’t seen in a while. I don’t know how you choose what to work on. Again, beautiful work/projects ❤️. Have a great rest of the weekend, stay safe, happy stitching and God Bless ❤️
Loved every minute of this! ❤
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous, gorgeous Wips! During this parade I managed to finish an advent animal :) so fun! (Now I know these animals take at least three hours apparently!) Thank you always for all the times you keep me company while stitching 🌹
Wow! Good to know! :D
Loved the parade of wonderfulness!! 💜
Settling in to watch and stitch a little, it will take me a few days to watch through but I’m excited to see all of your projects! 💕💕💕
So enjoyed this WIP journey! Your pieces are all wonderful! ❤ I am too focused on finishing things instead of starting at the moment - maybe we should a “Focus on a Finish 2023” 😂❤️
I have tossed around that idea! It could be fun to maybe work monogamously on something until it's done, then switch to a larger project for a few days, then go on to another piece to stitch monogamously until it's done. As much as that appeals to me, I always feel the siren call to at least touch all of my pieces at least once each year, so that usually wins out. The more projects I have, the less time I can spend on each one, though, so I should probably finish a few! :D
Beautiful stitching enjoyed seeing them.
This was so awesome!! But also it gave me anxiety! 😂 90+ WIPS!! Yikes!
It gave me a bit too lol. I have 22 for 2022. And when at the beg of next year I will see how many I finished and start more to equal 23. The reason for my "anxiety" is I have trouble keeping mine straight lol. Also I have trouble coming bk to them if I let them sit too long! More power to you! You are very organized AND don't lose interest in them.
The top of the castle. The castle has alot going on in it.
This was fantastic! !!
Wow what an amazing WIP parade! I loved seeing all the projects, especially all the pretty ladies as they’re my favourite:). I also have tea and books mini with no background but haven’t managed to start it yet:(
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ wip parades thank you😊
Beautiful projects.
I love watching your WIP parades! I’m definitely with you on the wanting to finish some things and not let them linger for years. But then I also want to start all the things! I’m struggling with how to find the balance. I think focusing on the ones that are gifts for the kids is probably a good idea, because they’re not going to have the same interests forever and I’d hate to put all that work in and then them not like it as much as they could have. I’ve been stitching a Fortnite piece for my son for two years now and he’s not really into it any more. I keep hoping it’ll cycle back, and he says that he still wants it, but I worry that he won’t for too much longer! Same with my youngest and Disney Princesses.
That's a good point!
Oh boy.. This is going to be epic:)❤
I have one smallish box bursting at the seams with my projects. I have 12 in progress and about 5 kits not yet started. This video makes me feel better about that. I’ve loved this video so much! I’d love to know your plans for next year.
❤️❤️❤️ well done ✅ InezArnetta 🌹
I would crop your blue princesse a little bit on the other two sides too so she will stil be in the middle and there will be enough blue left I think...
Can you make a video about how you began sewing and cross stitching? You are such an inspiration! I really want to turn a few of my projects into pillows ,but as I have no background in sewing ,don't know where to begin 😅
I have a playlist here of some videos that explain how I do some things: ruclips.net/p/PL54kifyea7N2G56--hvipIY--eftvdUg2 Regarding sewing, you could probably look up RUclips videos for that, too! Do a search for "sew a cross stitch pillow" and I'm sure you'll find several. :)
💜💜💜
Great WIP parade, thank you. They are always fun. BUT, I can't see how this is going to end Sarah. I don't think you'll live long enough
to finish all these let alone any new ones too. Are you OK with leaving a lot of unfinished work behind ? I just can't understand it & I've tried to, honestly.
I too stitch for the enjoyment of the project but also like to see the project finished & give it to someone. You have so much fabric & floss tied up.
However, each person is different so enjoy your WIPS.
There are some projects I would like to finish, but some that are just for the joy of stitching them. I don't care if they never get finished and I'm okay with that. It'll be fun to see the picture come to life and see how far I can get before my eyes deteriorate! :D
Can you explain the typewriter method please? I’m sure you have explained it at some point but I can’t find the directions. Thank you so very much for your help. You are my Hero❤❤
I have a stitch with me video here that explains the method I use to choose symbols: ruclips.net/video/nus5p40pEWE/видео.html I have come to prefer choosing symbols from top to bottom, left to right within each 10x10 square rather than across a single horizontal row. So, I hope to film a demonstration of that Modified Typewriter method in the next month or so.
@@StitchinMommy thank you for the referral
Enjoyed your WIP parade. If you were doing an Artcey pattern with LOTS of snow, do you think 28 count, 2 strands tent stitch would be good. Husband picked out two winter patterns both with lots of snow. Thanks!!
Yes, 28ct with a 2 strand half stitch would be great for lots of snow - it'll help speed it along! If you don't want to stitch all that white on white, try choosing a light blue fabric or another light color that will complement the rest of the design - it'll make it easier to see what you're stitching.
@@StitchinMommy Thank you so much! I was kinda dreading the white on white so I will try a different color fabric!! You have been a tremendous help! Have a good day!
Also! Do you have any tips for where would I start a project that encompasses a few speciality stitches? Really would like to give them a go 😍
I would recommend heading over to The Victoria Sampler's Facebook page, if you're on there. They have some free patterns they release that include a few specialty stitches, so that could be a nice, non-committal way to try them. facebook.com/groups/144448399084489
Love seeing all your beautiful pieces. Question... and maybe you've said this before, but when you stitch your full coverage pieces half cross, how do you keep your stitched from slipping?
I don't tend to have trouble with threads slipping because I stitch with a fairly loose tension. However, I found my threads slipped a lot more often on Lugana, so I avoid that fabric now for half stitch pieces and only use full crosses on it.
Your work is beautiful. I have always been an aida stitcher, but I got my first HAED and I am trying to stitch on 28 ct for the first time and it is very small. Do you have a video on how to work out material sizes, for example if a pattern is in 25 ct how to work out the size needed for 18 ct. Thankyou for the work you have put in this video.
Fat Quarter Shop has all of that info and more.
The number of a fabric refers to the number of threads per inch. So, most patterns have the stitch count listed. You can divide the stitch count by the number of the fabric count to find out how many inches that will be (don't forget to add on some border inches before cutting!). Also remember that if the design is stitched "over 2 fabric threads" the actual stitch size is half that. So, if the pattern you're referring to was stitched on 25ct over 2, it actually has 12.5 stitches per inch. Divide the pattern stitch count (for example: 89 stitches wide by 60 stitches high) by 12.5 to see how big it would be stitched that way. If you want to stitch that pattern on 18 count, divide the stitch count by 18 to find how big it will be. Then, add 4-6 inches to allow for margins. :)
Hello,
Since I am seeing old videos I don't know if this idea is still useful.
But, how do you find your projects in the tubes? I'm also starting to store my projects in tubes, but I only have like 4, so it is easy to find them. But I had an idea that I wanted to share, which would be to print mini pictures of the finished design and then stick them on the tubes with duct tape. And then if the project changes, you can either remove it, or just put a new picture on top of the old one.
That could be fun! Right now, my tubes are either clear (like the ones that hold fabric in the craft stores), or the fabric kind of sticks out the top of the cardboard tube (so I can see the color of the fabric and remember which project it is), or I write the name on the outside of the cardboard tube.
What was the 4 seasons one called? The one where you finished Fall and are almost finished with winter and doing them 4 square. I love them and wanted to purchase them.
That one is called Colors of the Seasons 2, but it's an Italian pattern, so can be listed under it's Italian name. You can find it on 123stitch: www.123stitch.com/item/Serenita-Di-Campagna-I-Colori-Delle-Stagioni-2-Colors-of-the-Seasons/20-1406
What an amazing WIP parade!!! I love them all. Would you mind sharing the colors you are using for the His Name is Jesus piece? I would love to stitch that for a very dear friend. Thank you!!!
I’m using some Victorian Motto threads that will probably be hard to find now - I’m not sure of the status of her business. But I can share close DMC substitutions that you could use or match to fancy floss that you have access to. Garden Rose is equivalent to DMC 815, Blue Sampler is close to DMC 336 and Golden Sandstone is close to DMC 420.
@@StitchinMommy you are the best!!!! Thank you so very much for helping me out.
Am new to your channel and have really enjoyed seeing all your beautiful projects, finished and WIPS. Your choice of kits is so diverse and can’t imagine working on 96 WIPS - how do you choose what to work on in any given week? Also, do you work in-hand or use stretcher bars or a hoop?
I stitch exclusively in hand. You can see demonstrations of my stitching style here: ruclips.net/p/PL54kifyea7N2G56--hvipIY--eftvdUg2 It's a constant challenge to figure out what to stitch on, since I love everything! I change my methods and organization all the time! :D
I really like you advent calendar, can you write down a link?
