I'm not kidding...That's the second 1000 I've heard in the past 15 minutes with bad slip ring brushes. The pitch drops every time the horn points at you when it's in Alert. Love how it growls at the end!
Oh wow, yesterday! We'll yesterday was wensday, and they usually run sirens @ 1pm in Savage. But for the past 2 months, it doesn't sound like ours are going off.... Only because the area is so quiet when there sounded. I can hear Burnsvilles I think. And this TBolt sounds alittle different...
I do find these sirens really fascinating now... I know nothing about them, as I'm in England...But, my first reaction on hearing it was..."Poor thing...It doesn't sound too healthy to me" Reading through the comments all those that know about them think the same. Can a siren get a sore throat? If so...Then this poor old thing has one...haha!!! Maintenance needed ASAP! Great video!!! :)
Do you mean Monroe Elementary School? 810 Palace Ave St. Paul, MN 55102 is the actual address. Nobody recorded that siren, and I never spotted it when it was in service. How did you find it?
Mr.Someone \Tom/ It was bad bearings and short brushes working in tandem. A lot of St Paul’s thunderbolts had that problem. All of them are gone now as I’m sure you already know, replaced by 2001-130’s. They were some of the oldest sirens in the state, from the early 50’s. Minneapolis’ 4/5’s were maintained much better than the 1000’s in St Paul. Many of them received full chopper restorations in the 80’s and 90’s
Mr.Someone \Tom/ I’m pretty sure that St Paul had one of the oldest systems in the country up until the upgrades in 2012. Minneapolis’ 4/5’s didn’t last much longer either unfortunately. They were replaced in 2013. But the University of Minnesota kept one of them in operation as I’m sure you know. The one on top of the parking garage at West Bank

Was the Thunderbeam in Richfield relocated to the Middle School site from 75th or 76th St? I thought I saw one there sometime ago.

Ooh, she's a bit sickly. Guess it's just harder for them to get to this one to do any maintenance on it. Looks so cool up there though!
Downtown has two thunderbolt 1000, The, low tone One and this thunderbolt and sth 10b in The, city Hall
This area is somewhat far from were I live, I haven't been able to check. If I by chance go there again I'll let you know.

This siren is no longer there as I drove by the bridge and saw it gone forever.
+Jeffrey Vue I think that all of the Thunderbolt 1000s in St. Paul are gone forever but I wonder if anyone has them, if they were bought or scrapped?
