Look at what MTV News once was. News about musical artists. I'm speechless.
frigggen sux
When MTV was MTV.
What a dumb ass channel....MTV with actually music items is ridiculous
Simpler Times Man!☹️
A Tribe Called Quest are pretty much the beatles of rap
Love the youthful innocence. Rest In Peace, Phife. ❤
Yep, then eventually Q-Tip’s ego got a tad in the way when the group had become a staple and hip hop force. I never wanted a Q-Tip solo album. I wanted more Tribe Called Quest!
@@jameskonners8304 You know something, James. I've never heard anyone break it down that way, but I see what you mean. The Q-Tip solo voyage kinda threw me. But, if you paid close attention you could see that coming. I just thought he'd go in another direction. The whole "Vivrant Thing" concept seemed very left to me. I figured if he ever left the group, he'd go the "conscious" route.
This group was really special during 90’s. They didn’t cause with the media.
"I'm an Aries" lolol
Loll
I almost cry when I see this. So humble, warm, soulful and on the verge of becoming pioneers of some of the greatest 90s hiphop ever - correction - hiphop EVER. Thank you eternally for your music. Rest in peace Phife
The 90’s was a simpler time everything about this is funky, exciting and feel-good. What once was.
Rip the funky diabetic
Phife Diggy Dog!! RIP.....One love from CT.
Man I wasn’t even born in the 80s or 90s but I love them so much❤️.
Chanteria Reddick rightttt!!
These guys are so talented! qtip and phife are so cute!
Phife is so quiet man.
It’s just a video, pal
Native Tongue was kinda like the original Odd Future.
Except the majority of Native Tongues were talented.
Native Tongue should NEVER be compared to them, or anyone honestly
@@diamndz1021 yeah that shit is just insulting people need to cut that out native tongues was its own thing that could've gone far if the music industry didn't inflate heads
@@remaininginlight While this is true, Native Tongues were one of the first major rap collectives, especially under alternative hip hop. The impact Native Tongues had on Generation X is comparable to the impact Odd Future had on my generation and Generation Z, to a lesser extent.
Tyler rapped like a 1992 rap a lot records artist tho
A different TIME.....a different ERA.
brings a tear to my eye
Damn they were so young. RIP PHIFE
These guys are a vibe. Their style is way ahead of their time too.
Jarobi definitely deserved to be on tracks more.
he didnt rap at all at the time i think
Check "Scenario demo" he's either in number one or two, he has a verse.
Jarobi decided to be a chef and take culinary arts that's why he wasn't there for most of the ATCQ shit
He would've been if he wanted to
He busy perusing his cookin career
"It's just a video pal"
2:10 the way Tip says buzzard that's adorable XD
gone but not forgotten :(
Phife melts my heart in this video.
R.I.P Phife
They seem so cool, laid back and just guys who love music. Also, I’m glad they mentioned the west coast. El Segundo, CA.
I love them so much
I know I commented already but 0:23 I ended up using that as my yearbook quote
From news to promoting tights, it was time... and I still enjoy these beats even 30 years later🤦🏻♂️
These are the good days and I didn't even know it then
I feel you on that. And I think all of us who experienced the 90s feel the same.
TRUTH.
I really miss back in the day. Rip PHIFE
sentimental feels
Looking back this was 29 years ago ........ RIP Phife Dog.
Miss him so much
THE OPTIC NERVES
Yooooooo, look how young they look 😲
happy 49th birthday kamaal ibn john fareed aka rapper q-tip !!!
"I'm Jarobi. Seldom seen and never heard."
Brutal lol
Wow can't believe this was 29 years ago
I'm a sick puppy
Hey, buddy. English is not my first language, so, could you please let me know what Q-Tip means when he says he's a "sick puppy"? Thanx a bunch! :)
@@ELBERGOEBBELS It's a phrase for someone who behaves in a odd way, attention seeking, insane person who says and does unpredictable things.
@@HDitzzDH Thanx a bunch, RZA, so, could you please help me with one last question? I'd be eternally grateful.
I´ve been desperately seeking for someone to write off the 40 seconds conversation the Wu guys have in the elevator in the intro of the "Protect Ya Neck The Jump Off" video. AND SPECIALLY WHAT GHOSTFACE SAYS (his 4 last words) RIGHT BEFORE THE ELEVATOR´S DOORS SHUT, AND THE VIDEO BEGINS.
God bless ya!
@@ELBERGOEBBELS I know what you mean, there's a lot of slang and background noise so it's hard to understand exactly what's being said, it's something along the lines of...
RZA:"This whole spot is bang, we're gonna go in and do whatever we want man, I'm telling you it's gonna be the jump-off!
Rae: You got trees (weed) on you Ra (Rakeem I suppose)?
RZA: "Yo I just got the tweed (weed) from son man, we can choose any time we want man, just choose.
Ghost: No doubt, that's what we gonna do, that's what we gonna do.
RZA: Hit the button yo, we gonna take it back to 1988 right?
Ghost: 88', 88'.
RZA: I got the God jewels right.
Ghost: BONG, ? (genuinely couldn't get that one), it sounds like "we got the soundwave" I would guess. This could be completely wrong though.
@@HDitzzDH Thanx a lot, man. I love you.
But what about Ghostface last words before the Elevator´s doors shut? This is the main issue.
As a South African I laughed at Q-tip
We all do! That dude is funny. I think at the time it was a word used loosely. Not quite postman material. LOL!
RIP MTV NEWS
Good humans right there
real thing of hip hop, they're fire
Man tip and phife were so attractive
"I'm Q-tip I'm an ♈, I'm a sick puppy"
I've ALWAYS wanted to know the EXACT restaurant in Nevada where they filmed the scene with the waitress!!!
What's with the dislikes?
He's triggering people that also left their wallets in el segundo
Ignorance is bliss
Back when MTV Displayed real Artists
Goddamn I really hate that I missed all of this, especially because I live in New York ughhh
Ohhhh hey Q-tip Where u at bro
& there was history
"It's well worth hearing."
1:37 What song is this?🤔
It's Jungle Brothers... "Doin Our Own Dang" :)
@@markteevee thank you so much❤️
I never saw this interview? Why would you now put this up? SMH
+051290ma Because of Phife's passing
no I NEED to see more Ritz show footage 1:37
Seriously I always thought the remix was the original and the original was the remix.....found it out about like a year ago...haha
Ahh. Back when rappers wouldn’t cuss in every sentence.
On dis one, Phife Dawg almost looks a lowe bit like Kevin Hart!😀
Is the short Jungle track at the end of the video part of a longer tune or is it just a little 'jingle'??
itsa jingle jangle swallow bungle
Kurt fuckin Loder
I must have him!
rip phife...
well-spoken they were not
90s mtv was better then the mtv I have in this generation better artist in the 90s
They sound nothing like De La Soul. 😂
