I have 2 of these. The sunburst and the black. Love them both. Not pro guitars, but fun cheap guitars for home studios, practice and garage bands. Thanks Donner. Great Job!

Can I ask about the neck profile? I am looking for a guitar for a child and even I as an adult hat fat guitar necks, like Fenders and Gibsons.

I bought this for my wife as her first guitar, she's a lefty and they are readily available, and i have to say, i was very impressed! It came pretty well set up, looked awesome, and sounded pretty damn good!

Nice, clean playing style and tones. I liked it with just a little break-up. That sounded sweet. And I love this guitar. Been looking at it for a while. Going to probably pick on up soon. I'm subbing you.

Nice, I like how you bring certain solutions to beginner guitars to light

I'm always a bit suspicious of people that do reviews of guitars that the company have sent them, they could easily set up the guitar they send you so it's better when you get it.

I just wonder how the poplar wood will hold up. Poplar is a pretty soft wood and porous. But Donner does say it used some baked on paint or something like that to improve resonance. I would just hope there wouldn't be any shrinking of the wood body after 5 or 10 years. Don't want the string ferrels moving around in the back or pulling through or the neck getting loose.
But then again, I am not too knowledgeable on the use of poplar for guitar making. Perhaps it has been used for other guitars and they have stood the test of time......so things I indicated above may not be an issue with poplar.
As far as amps....I don't think one needs to spend loads for a valve amp to get good sound these days. Just a step up from the Fender Frontman, you can get a Champion 20 ($150) and a bit more for a Mustang LT 25 ($175) . A few years ago, the Champion 20 was voted a top small practice amp for the home user.
Because the "electronics" in electric guitars are pretty simply and there is a lot of automation these days, you can get a great sounding guitar for $100-$150 bucks (at least compared to 20-30 years ago). Hey, it might not sound like a Fender Player Telecaster but these inexpensive guitars can sound pretty good in the hands of someone who has decent playing skills --- and if you don't have decent playing skills, aka beginner, then no guitar is going to sound good....LOL (I should know because I'm a beginner...haha)

I don’t think so, a lot of Squier’s and fender’s use Poplar bodies, and they hold up very well.

I bought one as a Mod Project. Nothing really wrong as it comes I just wanted a HH Tele. The bones are solid! I went for a heavier bridge with stainless saddles and dual Humbuckers. I added Alpha pots and a .22uf orange drop. To be fair to the single coils they weren't bad after raising them up. I just really like Humbuckers as a personal preference. I expected the body to be much lighter than it is. Locking tuners and a polish job on the frets which it didn't have to have but why not. I put 10 to 46 stings on it but it perhaps would be better like a EVH Wolfgang and 9 to 46.I doubt Donner minds people modding their guitars. That still sells one!

The guitar sounds great at its price point. I think there are some really good inexpensive guitars on the market at the moment, and a good set up will cure most ills. Great review!

Good review. I’ve got the sunburst. Nice looking, feels great and plays well but just can’t the tone to be just right especially on the treble notes. I replaced the strings, adjusted the tone knob every which way as well as in conjunction with different amps but for some reason it just doesn’t sound 100% right.

What I miss in these reviews is discussion about neck profile. For myself, I love the 'modern C' by Fender, but I hated the way every strat I ever played before discovering this neck profile. I can't play Gibson necks, too chunky. I can't play fat Fender necks. I wish I knew the neck profile for these guitars. I have plenty of guitars, I'm looking for my niece who has small hands and I understand being a beginner with short fingers because that was my humble beginnings. If someone could tell me the neck profile and how it feels?

I ordered this guitar a few days ago in lefty. Fairly new player. It was on a promo on Amazon for $60 off ended up being $107 shipped. I plan on having it set up professionally another$60 but even then $170 for a setup tele is stupid cheap. I have a early 2000s ovation celeb and a cheap beginner acoustic aswell. For someone who doesn’t play on stage and does it for fun these cheaper guitars make it affordable and easier to have several instruments. If you go into it with an open mind knowing it’s not gonna play like a $600-$2k guitar I think you would be fine otherwise. Don’t skimp on having it setup as this is the key point. Yea you might get rediculed about it at the shop but 90% of the time the person who set it up will be like wow it plays pretty nice for a cheap ass guitar.

We just reviewed this guitar on our channel, we are not paid and we don't receive any guitars from anyone that I or my brother don't pay for with our own money. We are not monetized and we will never be. We appreciate your review, but I don't think you can ever disconnect the fact that you have been paid by Donner to do it, and want to make more videos so guitars are a necessity. Luckily we're old retired farts who can somewhat afford to just buy the guitars and we give many of them to students when we are done with them.

Donner may be ok but every time i hear the name i think of Donner pass where the stranded pioneers resorted to cannibalism. Sorry pass
