The technology is undeniably good but the product hardware doesn't last. I have a Dyson V10 and had to replace the wand twice. I think making sure that the hardware is durable and long lasting is equally as important as the technological advancement.
A lot of the stuff shown are really just gimmicks though......like, the part where it shows on the screen what you've vacuumed is kinda stupid. I know what I'm looking at when I vacuum things, why do I need to look at a little screen while I do the chore??? And the "200 million requests" from the cloud app gateway means nothing. I'm a cloud engineer and none of that data is useful and relevant from a consumer's perspective. Most devices get firmware updates via the app on their phone. So imagine you have a Dyson app on your iPhone or Android and then you pair your phone to your Dyson device via bluetooth. Any firmware update gets downloaded by the Dyson app on the phone, which then sends the firmware over (via bluetooth) to your Dyson product and then they update themselves. The Dyson devices themselves don't really have or need to have wifi enabled. Most products (like Xiaomi) don't update the firmware on their products via direct internet connection, it's always via an intermediary device like your phone. This means that the "200 million request" aren't even coming from the Dyson devices, those numbers don't even mean anything given the context of this video.
Dyson needs to go back to its roots and fix their current line of vacuums which are unusable, even according to Dyson support, which replaced one model with another because it couldn't vacuum properly. Seems like they took the best engineers off of vacuums to focus on the electric car program which has since been scrapped. I was a long time fan and loyal customer until that experience. I found Shark vacuums after that and haven't looked back
Anyone else put off that Dyson has a live map of air quality around the world? Like I am sure users can opt out but still why do they need to know that.
Can't wait for the day when your Dyson product reports your home condition to your insurance agency and they either raise your rates or drop you. Not to mention having your Dyson product fail because there is no Internet connection, or like Tesla you have to pay extra to 'unlock' features of it.
If you'd like to discuss the handle cracking or your other issues, you can contact Dyson Support. Please advise your country of residence so we can provide the support information in your region.
Question: why do you have cloud developers? If it was a "smart" device, it wouldn't need a cloud. Why my hoover needs Internet access is beyond my understanding.
To be fair, I think they’re aiming for high-end ‘product as a service’ type of thing. Like some high-end cars that send telemetry back to base for live diagnostics & predictive maintenance. Might sound like overkill for domestic cleaning, but I guess it’s a bit like insurance against breakdowns for household stuff.
Why is it important for your vacuum to tell you how many particles of dirt its picked up? Also, cant wait for the vacuum update 10 years from now that'll disable obsolete devices

@@dejan. yeah I know but I think compared to iRobot it’s not that great. I’m referring to Dyson making its later iteration which is smarter and more powerful .
I'm pretty sure that big red splotch of bad air quality over Germany was after I last used the loo and opened up a window.
great ambition ..love their products... but currently I have a Dyson humidifier that's only two years old that stopped working ..and no parts at Dyson to replace it .. already been a month waiting.
Hi Praj, thanks for getting in touch. We'd be happy to look into this for you. Can you please send us a DM on our Instagram, Twitter or Facebook accounts, so we can further assist. We look forward to hearing from you.
So if I don't pay my internet bill, I can't vacuum and I can't breath clean air? Makes sense.
The technology is undeniably good but the product hardware doesn't last. I have a Dyson V10 and had to replace the wand twice. I think making sure that the hardware is durable and long lasting is equally as important as the technological advancement.
V15 best vacuum money can buy, love ours
I don’t trust this guy. Seems very money focused. Plus he keeps belittling his father’s groundbreaking work.
Didn’t know I needed a smart vacuum to suck up dirt
I want to work at Dyson one day 😄😄😄
Do these futuristic air purifiers monitor the amount of THC around Europe too? I think you'd get a hotspot over in Amsterdam.
I have a technical idea guys. Drawings will soon be completed. How do I contact you ? I wanna sell it 🙂
can you make a robot vac that does my stairs as well? Can't wait!
My 1000$ fan makes whistling sound and you guys haven't been able to replace it yet
Such a fascinating company. The sort of place i'd like to work for.
its really cool but why do need to know what size crumbs are on my floor.
Because they’re selling your data
my dream is to have a dyson vertical vacuum cleaner but unfortunately it is a dream to buy this product in my country.
Collecting data from air purifiers??
00:17 and focus on anti-consumer, anti-repair, borderline illegal tactics for profit. Great job.
Dyson can’t even make a fan which doesn’t create grinding noises for $500…
everything is now getting recorded
What vaccum is used in the Dyson HQ?😅
Jake Dyson looks and talks like a younger James Dyson it’s uncanny
my wife bought a V15 last week.. i was so pissed that she spent so much.. but after i used it, I was like.. shiitt. this is the best vacuum ever.
Who’s working on the Dyson car?
Can you invent a robot to cook my tea?
Probably! But you'll have to wait and see what our engineers come up with... 😉
@@dyson Thanks, if it can only do beans on toast and a can of stella that'll do for me
You guys literally thought those bladeless fans made the air cooler when they were actually making hot air...
Tell me you overengineering without telling me you overengineering
It's great that Dyson is a UK company. Apart from the tax side!
I think most people do not know Dyson transmit data readings of sensors from their machines to their servers.
So now even my fan spies on my without my consent. Sending millions of data points to Dyson.
Great products but please don't force customers to connect to the cloud. That would be the red line for me.
I’d buy a Dyson fan tomorrow if it had HomeKit compatibility.
That's amazing guys. Hope to be part of your team in the near future😅
PAY YOUR TAXES TO THE UK! YOUR BASED IN MALAYSIA AND AVOIDING TAX!!!!! POOR PEOPLE ARE EATING FROM FOOD BANKS!!!!
Which vacuum notifies me that the filter needs to be cleaned?
Impresive. That is investing in the future
All I wanted was a vacuum cleaner 🥲👍
Dyson is a company who build a product differently but deliver the same thing and a lot more expensive 👍🏻
Can’t wait for their robotic vacuum cleaner
Google wouldn't boast about collecting data because it will backfire on them. I'm amazed people are trusting towards Dyson...
Can't wait for the day when your Dyson product reports your home condition to your insurance agency and they either raise your rates or drop you. Not to mention having your Dyson product fail because there is no Internet connection, or like Tesla you have to pay extra to 'unlock' features of it.
where?
2:04 in other words: “Stefan how much money are we making selling consumer data”?
I love my dyson's, maybe a Dyson robot to clean my whole house?
Keep an eye out for all the latest announcements on our Dyson website!
I’d like to see James hand the helm over to his son.
I wish it made sense to open source any of this.
At what point will vacuum innovation reach a limit?
Such a shme I don't leave in the same country. I would be interested in process engineering position in a factory like that!
4 million connected devices that can be monitored and we are talking about household appliances, I can't imagine the rest, skynet will be a reality
I prefer not to know the count of dust particles and would trade it for plastic handles that don't crack and give you blisters.
If you'd like to discuss the handle cracking or your other issues, you can contact Dyson Support. Please advise your country of residence so we can provide the support information in your region.
Dyson would benefit from using Palantir to stream line data and protect peoples privacy within their homes.
Dyson: "it's like fort Knox in here"
The FCC: hold my beer
Question: why do you have cloud developers? If it was a "smart" device, it wouldn't need a cloud. Why my hoover needs Internet access is beyond my understanding.
They need the Internet to transmit data back to Dyson so they use/abuse the info
Paying a premium to source air quality data for Dyson
1:43 lol that's a raspberry pi in that fan.
Why is it important for your vacuum to tell you how many particles of dirt its picked up? Also, cant wait for the vacuum update 10 years from now that'll disable obsolete devices
