They are actually only about 3000 castles as such ,but ringforts get lumped in with castles because they are similar concept and often called cashels,they were the forts built before castles were built around the 13th century

That is good to know! All the ruins are SO cool, so much neat history in Ireland.
@@taylorandanna The ringforts are interesting,just mind the local superstitions they are there for a reason.Only go to the regularly visited ones.
