Order would be restored, but it would take time to figure out what to do with the soldiers and gear the Empire had amassed. The question would remain, would he need to say Luke had killed Vader? Or that Vader was in charge of controlling the Empire’s assets until things got ironed out. Very likely, Obi-Wan and Yoda would try to influence one or both of them.

Either, Vader rescuing him which is what happened, some kind of body transfer thing, or he could stop the Lightsaber himself. Why would Sidious willingly die just to make Luke evil? Sidious' goals aren't to destroy good actually, but one of them is to hold onto power as long as possible. Additionally this sort of story is what misses the morality play Lucas lays down. If you willingly choose darkness, you're borked. You can't just become more than a Jedi because you became a monster. That's the very 'do bad things to do good' morality that Lucas eschews!
