The volcanic Azores island of São Miguel has 5 hot springs. One in a rocky cove in the ocean, others in Furnas, where fumaroles/caleiras steam right in the middle of town, and others higher up in the hills nestled deep in lush forests. In this video you will see Poca de Dona Beija, Termas das Caldeiras, Ponta da Ferraria, and Caldeira Velha. I also learn about the geothermal energy generation at Central Geotérmica do Pico Vermelho, where steam vents are literally right beside the road. I love hot springs and São Miguel's thermal pools have been wonderful to experience!
    Thanks for watching!

Parque Terra Nostra's thermal pool was closed for reno work during the time I was there, so it wasn't a possibility to experience the 5th hot spring. The botanical gardens were open, but I did not go just for the gardens.

Yeah, we have beautiful temperate rainforest here in Canada, and there is similar too with different flora, tree and plant species.

Luke, Andrew here. What a beautiful green lush looking location! Reminds me of home here in N.Z.!! And of course here in N.Z. we have much much Geothermal activity also as our country is basically in existence because of the techtonic fault line through ⅔ of our country. We have Geothermal electricity generation too, multiple plants.
We have a very active off shore volcanic island called "White Island" where they use to mine the sulfur many years ago. Now the island is only a tourist destination.... With a bit of recent bad history - the island had a small eruption & very unfortunately some visiting tourists got killed & very hurt..... HOWEVER the tourist operators were ACTUALLY told NOT to take people on to the island due to recent activity monitored.
Have you ever been to New Zealand Luke?? You would absolutely love it here!
Beautiful mountain ranges, - the Southern Alps - right on the fault line, beautiful fiords, beautiful beaches, the wild West Coast facing the Tasman Sea in the South Island. The beautiful Able Tasman National Park at the top of the S.I. (South Island) - we kept things very very formal in N.Z. with our main two islands, we called them - very logically - the N.I. , North Island & S.I. ,South Island ,!!! Plus we have many more islands - quite a few of them inhabited too....
You obviously love hot springs - as do i !! We have, obviously with the techtonic fault line, an absolute plethora of hot springs over a vast length of our country....
You really need to V logg way way down here.
    A LOT to see though....
Rotorua in the North Island is exceptionally geothermal - massively so. Hot springs everywhere, commercial & just in streams & rivers - exactly like locations you visit, very very much in parallel.
Sorry for long message, i should've emailed you 🥴
