I'm 41 and even before I was born parents were letting 15 years marry older men. My grandma was one of them. It was accepted because older men were more established. Because those were the men that could provide, lots of times. The saying goes men mature later than women. And just to be clear, I lived as a women for 36 of my 41 years. I'm tired of the whole issue with R. Kelly. I believe these women also have some of the responsibility. They saw the super star and didn't know the man behind it.
