Title needs to be changed from semi crash to car runs into semi on shoulder. Why is it that the title insinuate that a semi driver was at fault?
Because they didn't want to use the correct title, "car does something stupid".
Mostly because the entire news station lacks true journalism.. They're just a bunch of media influencers.. talentless..
You know it's always gonna be the Semi's fault, no matter what
because the semi is owned by a greedy company and they are very bad. while the individual citizen driver-they good, they always victim.
Why else.. even when not in doubt…
Blame the truck driver.
See it on I-14 everyday, two cars racing on the far right lane in tandem, until there’s a rig in front of them.
If the driver of is lucky,,, they just pile their car into an inert load of cheerios, and not fuel.
IT WAS NOT A TANKER CRASH IT WAS A CAR THAT CRASHED INTO A TANKER!
easy Karen...its not that big a deal...it was a Deadly crash involving a Semi..
@@stuzworldz I see what you did there
Yeah, a truck that was pulled over onto the shoulder of the interstate. Either taking a 30 minute break, without triangles, or because there’s just no parking available anywhere else. I keep seeing this over and over. And I’m here to tell you, that truck driver WILL get charged! Sadly.
@@robskottland unless it was a mechanical rest stops are so bad these days cross country many are full and nothing is done
@stuzworldz You have no idea what your talking about do you.
Title should be "car hits tanker that's not even on the road".
So why don’t you tell the truth a car caused a crash on I 70 not a semi
You know they always have to make it look like the trucker's fault
CDL driver is ALWAYS to blame. Especially when their not.
Poor trucker. To all the truckers out there, I respect you all so much, and I want all of you truckers to know that I feel for you, it can’t be an easy job.
Stay safe out there, and know that there are drivers out there who respect your hard work.
1st question: Why was the car going at that speed on the shoulder?
probably texting
Using the shoulder as a lane to pass slower traffic. Happens in Cali and NV a lot on I-15.
I was passed in the right shoulder by some a$$hole in a Porsche. I was in the right lane and was being passed by someone in the left lane. Apparently the
P💩S in the Porsche couldn't wait..
The tanker truck and semi are clearly pulled off to the right side of the road on the side road. So how in the hell did someone manage to completely rear end the tanker?
Either a medical issue or not paying attention. However, speed was probably a factor in the SUV puncturing a hole in that bumper.
@@QueenCallisto you can see the ass end of it folded up like a ducks ass. 2:28
Terminal stupidity?
Definitely distracted and not paying attention. Bet you that if you found someone who was behind them, the car was not staying in their lane. Probably had the wheels either planted on the right line or over it.
As some commenters have suggested- texting
Somebody was on the phone texting?
AKA, "The Usual Suspects"
It was a car which crashed into the truck. Yet this headline blames the truck.
I'm a truck driver I've been a truck driver for 41 years I have 27 years in the Union 14 years over the road and local the one thing I refused to haul gasoline I have all the endorsements but I will never haul gasoline
@@anitakristensen4679 Jet fuel and diesel are nearly the same thing.
37 years driving truck. 15 otr 22 local/short haul. I pull haz mat tanker; great paying job, the number one thing that I am always on guard for is the stupid 4 wheelers who don't pay attention and don't know how to drive around trucks. The most dangerous products I haul are liquid oxygen and lpg. Three more years until retirement.
@@cheeseburger3072 hope you get there in timely fashion
@@cheeseburger3072 Best wishes for safe journeys, and retirement.
I used to think the same about hauling gasoline. The fumes are what makes gas more hazardous then the liquid itself. And the potential danger lies with the traveling public. Retired now after 43 years driving truck with 9 years of it hauling gas and diesel. The way I see it is these states should mandate people to learn driving trucks and motorcycles before ever letting them drive anything else so that your more aware of the potential danger.
I've driven that stretch of I-70 several hundred times in my life. It's a death trap for impatient, and incompetent drivers. Some people get frustrated when majority of traffic slows to navigate the 7-8% gradient, so in order to maintain their speed, they try to bomb a sudden lane change in the seemingly open right lane, not realizing that their closing speed is far greater than the slow moving RV, or commercial vehicle, or another vehicle transitioning from the center to the right lane. I wouldn't be surprised if the deceased swerved to avoid rear ending a vehicle in the right lane, only to hit the back of the tanker dead on while it was stationary on the right shoulder.
Yep, that would be a good guess. Driven that stretch of road many times. People impatient as all get out, can't wait 2-5 minutes for the traffic moving 5-10 under speed limit to clear and then do something stupid like what you said. Seen it more than a few times myself.
Sounds very plausible.
How fast was a car going to run into the tanker that was on the side of the road it's not always a truck's fault
Hasn't there been like three stories in California in the last week that cars have driven underneath the semis because they're going so fast and not paying attention
Yes. You are correct. There have been a few of those cars slamming into the back of a semis accidents.
It seems to be a new trend, this speeding up the slow lane, but as most logical people understand, it is the slow lane, so speeding in the slow lane is a very unintelligent thing to do.
Suicide by semi?
@@dizzymindy6024blame the crazies who block traffic in the passing lane.
@@CJinsoothat is a very big problem on freeways. People should get severe fines for holding up traffic, by sitting in the passing lane for miles.
Well, there is the issue of posted speed limits. A vehicle driving the posted (legal) speed limit, passing a slower moving vehicle, is not necessarily “sitting” in the “fast” lane; it is passing in the passing lane. Those who choose to ignore the posted speed limit need to take a deep breath, back off the bumper of the driver obeying the law, and give them time to get past the vehicle they are passing. They will get out of your way. Your rage at being forced to drive the limit behind them is what makes you take it as a personal affront and leads to many dreadfully horrendous outcomes that may cause you even further delay or failure to ever reach your intended destination.
Let me take a wild guess at this one. The driver was distracted at a high rate of speed thinking he was being cool while under the influence.
They no longer have to be under the influence. Drivers do crazy things all day everyday. Today a driver turned right from the middle lane in front of a car ahead of the one I was in. They just keep doing crazy stuff. I think the story will come out as to what actually happened but I'm guessing the driver tried to go around the tanker because they did not like it driving so slow while pulling to the side. I have witnessed many drivers doing stuff like that around trucks all the time over the last couple of years.
@@skytechbits I guess you did not pay attention to the video. The tanker truck was parked on the side of the road which is crazy. The driver of the SUV or whatever that burnt out mess is was not paying attention and ran into a truck on the side of the road. Probably texting and driving.
Likely under the influence of cellphonijuana
nah! the [dead] idiot in the suv was probably just playing with this phone
Prayers for the family of the deceased and praying the trucker makes a full recovery from their injuries.

Did it to themselves.
wait, at the very end you mention that the car driver passed away? don’t you think you should lead with that information? here is what you victim seeking news reporters should have led with: “Horrific crash on I70. Driver in car/suv, slams into tanker truck that is on shoulder. Driver that caused the accident died at the scene. Tanker explodes, massive fire and traffic backup as I70 closed. No word yet on why the driver of the car/suv slammed into the tanker that was on the shoulder. you can only guess it was drugs/alcohol,distracted driving (texting), weed, or some combination.”
I have been driving I70 for fifty years and there are simply too many people in a hurry and not paying attention. Everyone thinks they are a race car drivers who can handle a twisting 7% grade at 80 mph.
The title is misleading.
How do you not see a tanker?
As a gas truck driver it is absolutely unbelievable that only one compartment burned on that trailer
Right!?!?
No Nicole we cannot see the burnt out car who rear-ended the tanker...maybe your camera man could learn to zoom in.😅
Media quit stereotyping truck driver it was the vehicle behind it that caused it
Pot smokers should not drive.
MY PRAYERS GO TO ALL THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS INVOLVED IN THIS VERY 😢SITUATION ALL THE WAY FROM AUSTRALIA ❤❤❤
prayers are useless, you can pray in private, you only post them to seek attention
There has been a vehicle fire on I-70 every day this week but one I think. This one was a biggie. Sorry for the driver and his family.
Correction- Car plows into tanker
one less cell phone behind the wheel
Distracted driving again. Tanker did its job, this is why diesel is kept in the back. Thankfully the gasoline didnt ignite.
Lord have mercy. I am back home in Indiana now the last couple of decades, but I remember this stretch well.
I haul hazardous chemicals and this is why I never stop on the shoulder if I can prevent it
What is it with people slamming into park semi truck states need to put k rails so truck can part safely. I hate when you need a break you have to drive a long time to get to a truck stop.
This wasn't taking a break, it was probably a breakdown. It's a long uphill climb and trucks break down all the time around there.
Surprisingly the truck is intact, glad the driver is ok and gets money to replace all the rubber on his truck and gets trucking again
Someone was distracted and re-ended the tanker
I've hauled fuel back in the 90s. Unfortunately thats a bad situation there for sure .
How does a tractor-trailer crash when it is not moving? Perpetuating a stigma against an entire industry for a fake headline. If you want to shock viewers, be honest for once. "Distracted driver crashes into stopped tractor trailer."
Very weird. Its seems I70 and I75 had exits blocked off at the same time. In Georgia it was Yesterday at the same time this was happening. Many exits along the way to Atlanta were all blocked by semi accidents. Do we have the new ship hits bridge cenario.
Play stupid games…. Win stupid prizes.
Geez, the truck wasn’t even on the road. 🙄🥴
So many trucks on freeways nowdays and many unqualified drivers from mexico. Hard to see them at night. They drive crazy in California. Scary
Were happening that??
I’ve always said that maybe they should consider building a bypass for trucks….i think it’s about time.
Just say no to drugs
Because it's a more catchy headline to write semi crash rather than say it like it is. Hope that answers your question.
Stay safe drivers. Other motorists may not be paying attention. Make sure to pull over as far as you safely can on the other side of the solid white line.
Why do drivers think the shoulder is an additional travel lane. Geez!
The tanker was rear ended? Good grief. Slow down; pay attention.
Rear ended in the break down lane going uphill!
Tanker going up hill slow in right lane, possibly had four way flashers on. Motorist not paying attention (aggressive driving or distracted) runs into back of of tanker causing accident and their demise. Yet, there are dozens of lawyer signs in every major urban area prompting four wheelers to sue truckers. Glad I just retired from trucking..
Colorado blaming the trucker what a shock.
Why was the truck stopped on the shoulder?
He was off the roadway for whatever reason. Should ask why the other vehicle left the roadway to plow into him!
Was it the driver of the car who died?
What did the truck driver give a brake check
So now gonna be more rules for us not to park on side of the road
Watch them blame the trucker
Mic on the Male was low.
I stay away from tankers!
My opinions:
1.) Driver of SUV had a medical emergency and hit tanker parked on side of road.
2.) Driver of SUV was not paying attention and ran into back of tanker parked on side of the road
3.) Driver of SUV had some kind of mechanical or electrical malfunction of the vehicle, and hit the tanker parked on side of the road.
4.) Driver of SUV mental health issue and hit the tanker parked on side of the road.
Only the investigation from the Highway Patrol and witnesses from other drivers can tell what happened before and when the incident occurred.
Looks like inattentive driving on the SUVs part hitting the parked Semi
You shouldn't be parked on the side of the road unless you're broke down .
Why is it a tanker crash instead of a car crash? Car crashes into the truck, and they frame it as if it's the trucks fault. Pathetic
i wonder why he didn't disconnect to save the tractor.
Maybe the impact knocked him out, news said he was taken to the hospital.
So it was a deadly AUTO crash......cuz the car crashed into a semi PARKED off the highway.
Just another distracted / phone staring driver off the road !
Well since Colorado won't fix the roads anyway in the first place I'm sure they won't fix this part of the road either
Diesel fuel ruins any and all asphalt and will need to be replaced ASAP!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Get off your cell phones people
&ow much you wanna bet they'll blame the truck driver, for being parked on the shoulder?
I liked listening to Nicole! Good reporting!
Isn't there a law, to go into the left lane when ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE is on the side of the road?? And if you can't because of traffic, SLOW THE HELL DOWN! This is totally the fault of the suv; who couldnt see a giant tanker on the side of the road? People like this don't deserve to drive; he/she has compromised the road, other drivers, the environment, emergency personnel: all because they were in a big freaking hurry.
well I knew I would see it in the comments and I did. I hate to inform you of this but you really have to choice where you break down at and when you are going up a grade like that he probably overheated and had to pull off to the side before his engines computer shut him down. Even the idiot truck driver who claims all his experience should know this but he probably had Zero mountain driving experience. Stay safe out there people
Just wait till the new law trucks right lane it will be a every day scene
Why you shouldn't text and drive
Yaw watch the trucker will be at fault so watch how many lawyers gonna be ways to sue the company an the driver
Why does the fake news media always put-up fake headlines! Put the real blame where it belongs! SUV was dumb enough to drive on shoulder.
Was some idiot trying to pass on the right??
Hope he had his triangles out or they will try to pin this on him. People's not going to see that big truck setting on the shoulder but there going to see them little triangles it's stupid in my opinion but if they are not out they'll say that you're at fault
A person died and all these fools can talk about is how bad the traffic is. Empathy much
Get off your phone!
fox news would actively trash talk truck drivers...
Tanker shouldn't been parked on that narrow shoulder, but yall don't care.
he might have hnad a breakdown and only place to get off the roadway???? why was the SUV driving on the shoulder????
Ya, don't blame the idiot that left the roadway and plowed into him!
❤️🙏❤️🙏
I'm not blaming the truck driver. But any truck hauling haz mat should get a ticket for pulling off the side of the road except for an extreme emergency
Maybe it was.
Truck driver is screwed parked on the shoulder no triangles lawyers are going to have a field day with that company never stop on the shoulder unless your vehicle stops running car or truck the shoulder of any interstate in America is extremely dangerous just ask any state trooper
Overdramatize much ? It wasn’t a semi crash; a car rear-ended the truck, resulting in the fire. Hope the clicks and likes are worth the butchered headline
Someone got fired
Why would he get fired? He was broken down on the shoulder
@@C137Matt I hate trucks and drivers and 18 wheelers.

That Tanker was not supposed to be within 35 feet of the traveled roadway unless it was broken down, and since his hood is not up, I'm going to guess he also didn't have triangles out, that Driver will be held responsible for this crash.
