Excellent performance. From experience I know how tricky this movement of Hoedown is, the notes being tricky to get under the fingers but this ensemble make it look simple.
In my opinion this performance, as well done as it is, still makes me yearn for the complete orchestra. The brass in particular is just not replaced by strings.
Okay so im in the highest orch of my junior high and we tried to sight read this piece today AND IT SOUNDED TERRIBLE im here to hear what this piece actually sounds like
Gosh I played this song my junior year of highschool and I learned it as a second violin. I was so proud and then felt so defeated when I got bumped up to first violin my second year and had to learn it all over again;; and it was even harder to play that time :'D
@Tiny Hawk64 oh man, you'll get it for sure. If not in your junior year, definitely senior. That's how I got it. All the seniors graduated and my teacher just moved me up to first violin. I think your teacher will see that you really put in the effort so I have no doubt you'll be first pick to be moved up. I'm rooting for you!
@Random One for Stuff for context, I went to a performing arts school specifically for orchestra. Despite that it was still a pretty small orchestra?? Idk if that has any effect on the decision for positions.
@@oliviaudon7821 Wow, I didn't know such a school existed. Anyhow, my school's orchestra is very low-key (there aren't even chair auditions). I don't know what you consider small, but we have about 10 violins in total, 3 violas, and 5 cellos.
Wow this is beautiful, the first time i every heard this was watching a logging video from the early ‘80s, at end of the video the participants cut down the “spar poles” that were 110’ tall, with only an axe, 2 man crosscut saw, and wedges as this piece was played in the background, both spar poles, were just long logs. The sawyers fell the logs right on the little flags - right where they were aiming. Thank you for posting and sharing.
What is a bit interesting, in my junior year before covid hit I actually played this piece I think it took us like probably a maximum of a week or so to practice this piece and then put it in a concert, it's so crazy!!!!
God loves you nothing can separate you from the love that God has for you Jesus came down on this world so we could be born again and be forgiven of our sins be thankful for that
@@leogavinho4579 yes! I was at a concert called "Fiddler's Feast" featuring a sampling of Appalachian, Scottish, and Catskill fiddle music. They played the specific tune that inspired this. I cannot for the life of me recall the name, though I have played it in my little Celtic band often.
Eliza's Reel. This is what the brief answering (dueling) solo of the first violin and the third viola (?) is known as. A tune within a tune. The Quintessence of a dance at day's end, on the trail, or on the river, when camp has been made, and you are settling in for an evening. In the West. In the 19th century. Or maybe at a corn shuckin.
This is the fantastical musical arrangement chosen by The Topless Showgirl Orchestra in the world's first Sexual Theme Park doing Aaron Copland's masterpiece Hoedown as their first number. Musical prodigies from around the world chosen for their skill, beauty & seductive dance steps make up the unique orchestra performing both music and erotic dance.
What the hell is the conductor doing. He isnt even keeping up with the musicians. He looks like a drunk just walked in and started waving a baton around
can confirm i was underprepared and we had 3 days to get this ready for a concert
Loved this song the very first time I heard it. That Aaron Coplan is a gift !
Lots of fun when I played this in high school with an orchestra about half this size. 😊
How could you hate this?!?!
Pamela Saunders have you tried playing it? It’s agonising. But I do agree, this ensemble did an amazing job and put me and my fickle attempts to shame
No glockenspiel! :-( But It's still a great performance; no hate here. It's just missing the main instrument.
I don't like what's for dinner
wes it’s so hard 😅🥺 i play the bass I’m doing it in orchestra teehee :)

I just love this song so much. I think this song was in a commercial why back when a very long time ago.
A commercial for beef in the 1990's.
You are right Way way back
I seem to remember it was about 🥩
If you are breathing you have to love this!
I was a cellist and I remember this piece being very fun to play.

how did it go lol
same with my school. this is why you should never get a string ensemble to sight read these kind of things
BAHAHHAHAHSHHA

Find Emerson Lake and Palmer's version and rock on!!

Thank you!!! Someone else who remembers that commercial
I love that the conductor is so into the piece, it’s like his baton is an additional instrument

2:12 got to love the moment everyone thinks its over
Thats when the best part begins
Fantastic - for me this piece sounds better than a full orchestra, as its easier to hear more of the subtleties .
a rousing, standing ovation is due to the members of this group. I'm getting cramps in my arms from applauding.
I just got into my regional orchestra and this is one of the pieces 🥲

Those timber cutters worked very methodically cutting down the spar poles.
They played like the bar was about to close. Top class fiddling!
Omg I need to play this for symphony jh region!!! This is a tricky piece but y’all make it look so easy!
I remember playing this in middle school in our top orchestra. Difficult to learn but so much fun once we nailed it for our festival
We r all sure it was good for a middle school but not “good” like this. :)
That moment when people start clapping but realize that it ain't over yet!
I think four minutes of this is enough for me.
When a song is so good you forget to breathe.
Fantastic
Nobody associates such a beautiful piece of music with chicken or pork, or vegetables for that matter 🥩
This piece reminds me of Vivaldi's Winter, Inverno. Both very intricate, difficult pieces of beautiful music.
Cellos playing in thumb position at 2:07 like a boss
WE PLAYED IT AT FULL SPEED FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY AND I THOUGHT MY FINGERS WERE GOING TO FALL OFF AT THAT PART PLEASE
everybody was amazing
Hit like if you remember this from the beef ads in the 90's
@2:12 - nearly got 'em! The audience. A wry mini-smile from the pretty principal violinist as a bonus, plus a free-range string on her bow.
Who is listening this July in 2024 ?
here in october 2024

I actually had to learn the first violin part in 2 weeks because I decided to play violin and viola in high school.
I remember playing this in high school. Clarinet my fingers were working fast
This makes me want to learn how to play the violin again.
I’ve played this song before and people ALWAYS CLAP EARLY 2:13 happened when we performed, and it happens in most recordings I watch
audience starts yelling out "beef" beef at end
around 2:10 some people start to applause
Why some parts sound like Irish music?? ( That's amazing by the away)
Appalachian by way of Ireland?
