I think for me, the thing is that I'm a Disney fan first and a cruise fan second, so any typical cruise activities are going to be enhanced by the presence of Disney theming and Disney characters and Disney music. I've been on Royal Caribbean. My husband and I actually got engaged on Freedom of the Seas back in 2011. We had a great time. The food, the service- all on par with Disney. I'd absolutely like to go on more RC cruises eventually. But at the end of the day, I'm happier being surrounded by Disney magic.🚢

I loved your comparisons though! We are more of a relaxing/chill family, so we find the Disney cruises more of our speed. The no port holes on RC would definitely be a deal breaker for us too. We also appreciate the no casinos and that the ship is so much quieter at night on Disney. We also love all the entertainment and characters on Disney (not to mention the towel animals and chocolates every night). However, with teenagers and thrill seekers, I can definitely see the appeal of RC.
We’ve been on Disney and Royal one time each. We went on Disney when our kids were younger and Royal with teenagers. And our teenage kids were comparing Royal to Disney the entire time. For example, when we got on the ship they missed the introductions we had on Disney. And we loved the dining and shows at Disney. We liked both ships and both experiences but overall we would choose Disney again! Keep in mind we didn’t have a suite on Royal :) just standard rooms on both.

I really appreciate how thorough and well thought out your comparison was. Like you, we have been on several DCL cruises, but we have not experienced RC. My son has aged out of the Imagineers club now and I think the variety that RC brings would be a lot of fun for him now that he is older. We love Disney but the price and value that RC seems to bring is very tempting!
First time watching your vids… the title grabed me . I am team Disney all the way . I’ve sailed all 5 Disney ships .. Dream 2x…total 6 sails. I’ve also been on carnival , RC and MSC.. I think the saying you get what you pay for holds true . Disney is such an elevated experience and is always consist. It’s familiar and welcoming. It really is next level .People that sail Disney are all there for the same reason and that’s the love of Disney .. other ships definitely not the case …most times it feels like a frat party with a goal in mind to behave in a way not consistent with their normal lives . 🛳️
Really great and thorough comparison. We are Disney fanatics, but have never been on a Disney cruise. My 23 year old son has always wanted to go on a cruise and we picked Royal this coming Jan. due to the price and it seemed more of a good fit for him. This video really helped confirm in my mind that we made the right choice. I'd like to cruise on a Disney ship someday, but I think we're going to have a great time on Royal Caribbean.

Going on the Disney Fanatsy tomorrow, Harmony of the Seas over new years. 13 on Disney, only 3 on RCCL, so far. Enjoy them both, but Disney feels like home. Either way you’re on the water in on vacation, so you can’t go wrong.
This was great! We always price out Royal and I feel like by the time I add all of the “extras” with Royal, the price ends up the same. Did you feel like once you added in specialty dining etc that you still saved? 🚢
It was very close, if not a little cheaper. For sure cheaper than our upcoming 7 night sailing on the Treasure next summer. Even with the dining package. Our one dinner at Remy in the Fantasy was more than a 3 night specialty dining package for 2 of us!
It’s worth trying if you can do it, but you gotta go with what you want to experience. For us, we really wanted to try something different and we’re glad we did!

🚢 we just went on our first ever cruise on the Wish and your videos were super helpful as we planned. We’re already booked for our next one. The longer the video the better! Also I will say that our disembarkation was incredibly smooth with Disney. There were no lines. We got right off, grabbed our bags, they scanned our face (I heard that was only available if you opted to use passport and not birth certificate), and we went straight to our shuttle bus.
Totally enjoyed this, it opened our eyes to the Royal cruises. We have done 9 Disney Cruises, and havent tried any other cruise company yet, and liked your comparison between Royal and Disney. 😁

FYI: had tons of iced coffees and specialty coffees for free on RC on a regular balcony (not suite) on their cafes on both central park and The Royal Promenade. I think the vibe depends on which Royal ship you are on plus what time of year you sail. We aren’t party people either but on our Royal cruise, we felt very young. Our teen and tween were some of the only kids as we sailed during school term. Plus with the dining rooms, I think on the Quantum class they intended to do a type of rotational dining as there’s 4 MDR but I don’t know that it ever happened. Disney is the only cruise line that does the announcing as you board as far as I know. Introverted me prefers to not be announced 😊 🛳️🚢 We loved the Disney cruise but we’d prefer to cruise more often. Currently saving up to take the kids to Tokyo Disneyland.
We’ve done both cruise lines and had an amazing time on both. I feel like Disney won a lot of the categories, but that didn’t mean that royal was bad in any of the categories. We could do two Royal trips for the price of one Disney. I was worried my kids wouldn’t like Royals kids club after Disney, but they actually preferred it. it’s a smaller space but the staff are hands-on so they are constantly getting to know the other kids and doing games and activities.
That’s great to hear about the kids club staff! You can overcome a lack of familiar theming with incredible crew that engages with guests! Typically you get both with Disney, which is great, but you do pay more for it!
Been on both and love both. Leaning towards Disney now because my kids are younger and find they enjoyed the live shows more. Disney also had movie theaters which we utilized. The kids also got antsy at dinner on RC so appreciated the entertainment at dinner with Disney. Booked for Treasure summer 2025🛳️

We waffled between Virgin or Royal for our non-DCL cruise next year and chose Virgin. If y’all ever do a couples only cruise or wait until the girls get older I’d be interested to see what y’all think of Virgin!

🚢 I think in some categories you are comparing a newer larger Royal ship to older smaller Disney ships. I’m sure the older smaller Royal ships don’t have all of the amenities that are on Symphony of the Seas either. We’ve been to Castaway once and I agree that it would be nice if there was a pool. Kind of surprised they didn’t include one at Lookout. We’ve been on 2 Disney cruises ( Wonder and Fantasy) and have a 3rd booked (Dream). Will probably stick with Disney while our granddaughter still enjoys it, although I have to say I’d enjoy it even without her. Just something magical about a Disney cruise. But I’m not opposed to trying a different cruise line sometime.
I'm still watching. 🚢 I've always been a little disappointed with our experience at Castaway Cay. The BBQ has always been just "meh" and you're right, there isn't much to do. However, almost everything else about DCL sets it apart from the rest. I understand the cost of a DCL cruise is sometimes cray-cray, but you definitely get what you pay for. I have zero interest in spending money in a casino. For us, the rotational dining, the ship designs and the crews on DCL makes them a winner. RCL ships are too big for me and have too many people. If I want to be around 7500 people for a week, I'll visit a city.
Loved your review. I only cruised NCL and it was one of the special sixthman cruises so definitely not run like a regular cruise, but it was great and like somethings more then DCL and other things not as good or same etc I can wait till I try Virgin in 2025
I think a lot of it depends on the time of year you cruise and other circumstances. I’m sure if we went on another cruise, we may have a different experience 🤷🏻♂️

Well let’s compare apples to apples. If you were to book a Veranda on any Disney Ship especially Fantasy Wish or Dream especially a family Veranda, the cost would be the same or less on Royal Suite class. I assure you an Ocean view room on almost any Disney Ship is probably the same cost as a Junior Suite on most Royal Ships especially Freedom Class and Oasis Class. I love Disney Cruise Line but at a thousand dollars a day! I don’t see how people can afford it. I mean it is truly ridiculous the cost you pay for even an inside room on Disney I mean just compare it to Royal. And just from my experience the demographics for Disney is for families with kids 12 and under. Try staying in a Suite on Royal especially Sky Class and I bet your experience would be a game changer. Disney I’m sad to say is so overpriced and I just can’t justify paying a thousand dollars or more a day for an ocean view room not even a balcony or 850 a day for an inside room but if you have it to throw away then by all means go for it.
Our opinions are based on our experience alone, so we can’t speak to what others have experienced. We would be up for trying Royal not in a suite, but as we stated, the fact that you can sail on a number of Royal ships in a suite for the same price if not a little cheaper than in a standard DCL veranda room made this worth comparing.

Also, just a FYI, got off the Fantasy last month and customs in Port Canaveral finally has facial recognition. We were off the ship in less than 30 mins after being called. 🛳️
We will always prefer Disney. With you all going on Symphony of the Seas that is a better comparison to Disney but any older Royal ships don't compare.
🚢If you dont like the Oasis class then you chose the wrong class. Should have done Quantum class if the ocean views are that important. More people prefer Oasis class
@@AdventuresinMillerland That's one big thing the Quantum class fixed. More ocean views in a upscale package. But the ship has a smaller feel overall so they built more Oasis class. Icon is kind of a baby born out of the Oasis and Quantum but with a flair of individuality.
I think the girls are at that age where they’re a bit too old for a lot of the things that Disney has to offer and then too young for other Disney offerings. It makes sense why they’d prefer Royal during their teenage years

We’ve done both cruise lines and had an amazing time on both. I feel like Disney won a lot of the categories, but that didn’t mean that royal was bad in any of the categories. We could do two Royal trips for the price of one Disney. I was worried my kids wouldn’t like Royals kids club after Disney, but they actually preferred it. it’s a smaller space but the staff are hands-on so they are constantly getting to know the other kids and doing games and activities.
That’s great to hear about the kids club staff! You can overcome a lack of familiar theming with incredible crew that engages with guests! Typically you get both with Disney, which is great, but you do pay more for it!
Been on both and love both. Leaning towards Disney now because my kids are younger and find they enjoyed the live shows more. Disney also had movie theaters which we utilized. The kids also got antsy at dinner on RC so appreciated the entertainment at dinner with Disney. Booked for Treasure summer 2025🛳️
Disney would be best for younger kids. When in Summer are you all sailing on the Treasure?!

I had a feeling it was going to go down this way 😂 BUT this was a great breakdown. There’s a cruise line for every type of occasion. We waffled between Virgin or Royal for our non-DCL cruise next year and chose Virgin. If y’all ever do a couples only cruise or wait until the girls get older I’d be interested to see what y’all think of Virgin!

🚢 I think in some categories you are comparing a newer larger Royal ship to older smaller Disney ships. I’m sure the older smaller Royal ships don’t have all of the amenities that are on Symphony of the Seas either. We’ve been to Castaway once and I agree that it would be nice if there was a pool. Kind of surprised they didn’t include one at Lookout. We’ve been on 2 Disney cruises ( Wonder and Fantasy) and have a 3rd booked (Dream). Will probably stick with Disney while our granddaughter still enjoys it, although I have to say I’d enjoy it even without her. Just something magical about a Disney cruise. But I’m not opposed to trying a different cruise line sometime.
Yep! We were aware we were doing that. We likely wouldn’t sail on an older RC ship, but we heard they may be building some newer small ships!
I'm still watching. 🚢 I've always been a little disappointed with our experience at Castaway Cay. The BBQ has always been just "meh" and you're right, there isn't much to do. However, almost everything else about DCL sets it apart from the rest. I understand the cost of a DCL cruise is sometimes cray-cray, but you definitely get what you pay for. I have zero interest in spending money in a casino. For us, the rotational dining, the ship designs and the crews on DCL makes them a winner. RCL ships are too big for me and have too many people. If I want to be around 7500 people for a week, I'll visit a city.

I been on a lot of Royal Caribbean cruise ships love the large ships. I have not been on Disney if I was to go what ship would you suggest.

Loved your review. I only cruised NCL and it was one of the special sixthman cruises so definitely not run like a regular cruise, but it was great and like somethings more then DCL and other things not as good or same etc

I think a lot of it depends on the time of year you cruise and other circumstances. I’m sure if we went on another cruise, we may have a different experience 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for sharing, but some of your opinions????? I’m thinking some of your opinions might be different if you were not in a suite on Royal. I went on a Royal cruise and it was awful in comparison.
Well let’s compare apples to apples. If you were to book a Veranda on any Disney Ship especially Fantasy Wish or Dream especially a family Veranda, the cost would be the same or less on Royal Suite class. I assure you an Ocean view room on almost any Disney Ship is probably the same cost as a Junior Suite on most Royal Ships especially Freedom Class and Oasis Class. I love Disney Cruise Line but at a thousand dollars a day! I don’t see how people can afford it. I mean it is truly ridiculous the cost you pay for even an inside room on Disney I mean just compare it to Royal. And just from my experience the demographics for Disney is for families with kids 12 and under. Try staying in a Suite on Royal especially Sky Class and I bet your experience would be a game changer. Disney I’m sad to say is so overpriced and I just can’t justify paying a thousand dollars or more a day for an ocean view room not even a balcony or 850 a day for an inside room but if you have it to throw away then by all means go for it.
Our opinions are based on our experience alone, so we can’t speak to what others have experienced. We would be up for trying Royal not in a suite, but as we stated, the fact that you can sail on a number of Royal ships in a suite for the same price if not a little cheaper than in a standard DCL veranda room made this worth comparing.

Also, just a FYI, got off the Fantasy last month and customs in Port Canaveral finally has facial recognition. We were off the ship in less than 30 mins after being called. 🛳️

We will always prefer Disney. With you all going on Symphony of the Seas that is a better comparison to Disney but any older Royal ships don't compare.
Agreed. We would consider Quantum class ships for Alaska, but we’d probably stick to newer ships 😊

🚢If you dont like the Oasis class then you chose the wrong class. Should have done Quantum class if the ocean views are that important. More people prefer Oasis class
We loved the Oasis class! Just wished there were more ways to see the ocean instead of having a mall in the ship 😊
@@AdventuresinMillerland That's one big thing the Quantum class fixed. More ocean views in a upscale package. But the ship has a smaller feel overall so they built more Oasis class. Icon is kind of a baby born out of the Oasis and Quantum but with a flair of individuality.
I think the girls are at that age where they’re a bit too old for a lot of the things that Disney has to offer and then too young for other Disney offerings. It makes sense why they’d prefer Royal during their teenage years
