Last week i thought "hmm, i should play fallout 1 again," made a character, selected my stats, the whole shebang, step out of the vault and try to shoot a rat, only for a critical failure to destroy my 10mm pistol. I decided i was going to play 3&NV instead.
Then do like I did and make a character with 10 luck and the the Jinxed trait and save-scum his way through combat and then unintentionally discover that when someone critically misses a melee attack and loses their next turn, the game does it by marking them as unconscious for the next round, as going unconscious during a boxing match in New Reno will cause the other person to win by knockout, and that's how I became the New Reno Heavyweight Champion without throwing a single punch. Also fun fact, you can bypass all the bullshit with Vault City by just walking up to the hex right before the guards get triggered and warp you back, activate combat mode, and then walk past them into the green area that loads you into the vault. Also a bunch of merchants have their entire inventory on their person to be pickpocketed, and the NCR Bazaar shelves each have a single high-level pickpocket check that if passed lets you take as many items as you want from it without rolling a pickpocket check for each item like if you were stealing from a person's inventory.

Hey jabo I just saw your videos over a month ago and genuinely those videos got me playing nearly all the fallouts series your videos are really fun and awesome to watchable and ty for introducing these games to me hope your doing well and take care
What I want to do is go back and play the original ORIGINAL release version of fallout because in the very first patch (I think it was the first) they removed a 500 day time limit (hidden unlike the 150 day limit) and the associated mutant invasion mechanic. (all modern versions of F1 are 1.1) Basically you had 500 days to beat the game entirely (not too hard cause F1 only has so much content) and as time passes, towns would be besieged by mutants one by one as they hunt for something. Leaving said cities in ruins. The only part of the invasion that's still in the game is Necropolis, because necropolis has an alternate condition to trigger it's ruin. The game is still perfectly beatable if this happens I'm told
You can try it with Fallout Et Tu mod, but I don't recommend it at all lol. It was cut for a reason: they were going to give you a chance to reinforce the different settlements and areas to prevent the mutants from destroying them when they finally got to them, but they never implemented that stuff.
