This is a beautiful general explanation of different cooling systems. After years of experience, I am amazed that I still learn something new from you. Thank you!
I have seen geothermal systems augmenting var HVAC systems, not too often but here and there, aux system used to just help maintain a temp range. I've also seen rain collecting and filtering systems to augment coolers, someone just using available options to invest and s ave $$$ long term. Even saw a set of small wind generators on one rooftop to support the HVAC specifically. Seen a lotta unusual stuff too, but hey construction and environmental systems are a funky field. Enjoying the vids, most of it I know already but you never know where you may learn something new, and although no longer working it's fun to watch and the occasional flashbacks can be amusing, especially residential customers.
you can somewhat say that .. difference is a “package unit” can be on the roof or ground, as for the “RTU” it can be a package unit meaning A/C and Heating or it can be a A/C condenser unit of a “split system” on the roof .. hope this help ..
Rtu means roof top unit Packaged unit means it’s an all in one does the heat exchange all in one box. Essentially a box that takes and supply’s cold air and exhausts heat elsewhere.
Sir I am just a beginner in HVAC field and your videos are very helpful for learning. Sir i have a doubt. From where this chilled water is supplied. In video its showing, supply and return is connected with evaporator. But my question is inorder for chilled water to circulate it should be supplied initially from some point. Right?? So, sir from where does it come from... Please answer . I watched so many videos still not getting an answer for this. Thanks
@@EngineeringMindset sir, the caption for the video you mentioned is "Chilled Water Schematic - How to read Hvac Schematic diagram" . If not, sir can you please send me link for that. Thanks

Hi there. I believe you have the piping from the chiller to the pumps switched around like in your other video. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm an Elec PE for an MEP firm trying to get a basic understanding of HVAC systems.
Just discovered this channel. And like it a lot. I am a Plant Operation Director in the boston mass area. I would love to shoot a video over at my building. And use it to help others and myself how boilers/chillers/re circ pumps etc etc work with eachother. A real life video. Are you interested? I would love to due this at my commercial building. I would learn so much as well.
Maybe good to add also the possibilities of cross stream heat exchangers, keeping heat in when needed and als create a possibility to use free cooling instead of just the DX to do so.
Do you mind if I ask something? Do you have any video about the difference between all-water HVAC system and all-air HVAC system and which units does they use AHU for all air HVAC and also AHU for all-water HVAC but what is the purpose of all-water because it still has ducts for AHU, I didnt exactly understand their difference and benefit over each other. It would be great if you had a video about it. Your channel is great. I hope you will be so successful and I will be glad to support you :)) Thanks for everything.
As a general fact, water is way better then air in transferring heat. My assumption is that for systems that generate a lot of heat water becomes the better option.
Thanks so much for this video. Ive come across the typval water cooled chiller in the basement with the cooling tower on the roof on multiple buildings. Can anyone explain why the chiller isnt on the roof too? I must be missing something but it seems like a lot of extra chilled water piping having the chiller in the basement?
It saves energy by flashing some of the liquid refrigerant coming back from the condenser. The evaporated or flashed refrigerant lowers the temperature of the remaining liquid refrigerant going back into the evaporator and this improves efficiency since you have colder refrigerant in the evaporator to absorb heat. Hope this helped!
hey, i am a mechatronic engineering student and i am very much interested in air conditioning systems. i want to do my final thesis work on this system but i'm having a hard time relating the two. can you please help? it would mean a great deal.
Hi! Great video! One thing I thought about though was the image seen at 5:38. It shows the air cooler placed before the air heater. Should preferably be reversed!
Im looking into the sequence of coils atm. Onsite atm all AHU's have preheated coils>prefilter>bagfilter>Chilled water Coil>Heated Coil. So would like to know approved sequence....as all the LTHW preheated coils have rotted from exposure to elements!
If floating foundation on water then it can cool building , fighting fire , and antiprojectle from missile to airplane because it can had up to million psi system if needed
Is the difference in temperature of hot air coming to cold water enough so that energy could be converted to electricity, or dumped into a battery instead of dumping into the atmosphere?
How much should be the Grill temperature of an AC i e temp at discharge in room. The ACi have bought recently is showing 20.3 deg c and i beleive this is too high. Does the Grill temp vary with the room temperature
uuh.. its is kind of straight foward but not well or simple enough for a beginners. and the illustration really confuses when you mentions somethings but not point where it is . thanks by the way
You seem to have missed out a unique category but really common set up. It is mostly found in hotels, individual rooms are equipped with self-contained air conditioning units but the condensing unit is the refrigerant pipe that runs inside a larger water pipe that goes to the spraying tower. In this setup, there's no refrigeration of the water, just the water tower equipped with water pumps.
I have an Aqua Euro 1/4 hp chiller, and the regulator has become non-operational. Is there a video, or pictorial guide in re how to replace the regulator? I have the replacement part. It is for my 120 gallon Discus tank in the garage; thus the water temp. is crucial. The space for working with the chiller is limited as it is in the rear of the tank where the chiller sits is near the side garage wall. Any suggestions?

I continue to hear our engineers talk about “package unit”. Is this the same as an RTU?

Rtu means roof top unit
Packaged unit means it’s an all in one does the heat exchange all in one box. Essentially a box that takes and supply’s cold air and exhausts heat elsewhere.
In a way yes. RTUS are packaged hvac equipment placed on roofs. Package units are placed on the ground but usually can contain similar components
Yeah, some buildings are even putting Packaged units at strategic floors inside the buildings
RTU means RoofTop Unit. Package unit is a unit that heats & cools.

What is the difference between RTU and DX unit ?
RTU looks like a package unit , isn't it ?
not much difference, RTU is all in one solution, DX can be remote
