We also had a dark house inside, we were lucky as it was painted Grey, so when we changed the house colour which included white windows sills it really bounced light. Big mirrors opposite windows really helps too. Your house is 10/10... Except for the kitchen counter heights hahhahaha the poor dude stood like a giraffe drinking water
I'm new to your channel. Hi! I am Janice from Arkansas USA. You are such a cute couple, very sweet and polite. I totally love your beautiful place. I wish you both good things and many years to work together, making everything just the way you like it. I'm looking forward to seeing all your videos. Take care.
Hi Janice! We're so glad to have you join our journey and thank you so much for your kind comment. It made our day! Wishing you the best and a very Happy New Year ❤🌟
Going to get second hand in the Netherlands sounds like a great way to reduce the cost and recycle. New won't always fit in there as well, here in South Africa, second hand doesn't mean cheap either.👍
Removing the cement is labour intensive but necessary. It is done with a hand drilling machine (boormachine). Test the wood by drilling some little holes in it.
You could use a varnish type product to paint the protruding rocks in your bedroom wall. It will showcase the natural rock but have a smooth surface to wipe dust off more easily. In Australia we’d use a product like Estapol but I don’t know the equivalent available in Spain.
I’m new to your channel I’ve subscribed and I’m hoping I enjoy your content. This video was fine, you both seem somewhat eager, but do your research before you tear down or remove things. The cement pointing was a bad idea but these locals unfortunately take the easy snd cheap way out. Many homesteaders contend with this. If you are the mentality of doing it right you’ll remove that cement and re-point with lime. Long term it will prevent damp, moisture and mold issues in the future. Just do it right!! I know it’s crazy amount of work and money but don’t get overwhelmed, one project at a time, it a marathon not a race. Please don’t tell me either one of you are from the Netherlands! Thst place was a country that traumatized me and one day I will write a story of how horrible this country was to us and I detest it with all my heart. If I find that’s where you both are from. I will unsubscribe. I will never support anyone or anything from that despicable country.
The hig beam downstaires : the floor joists right above it can be hung to a beam that is exactly their same height... no need for it to be under. You just gained 20+ cm !!
Hi guys, my partner and I are really enjoying all your videos for your new adventures! We’re about to move ourselves to Galicia and begin similar regenerative projects and work with holistic health. I’d say you’d be a natural also 😉 We were just trying to figure out if you guys owned this house or are renting it? You’re giving it new life either way and it’s beautiful. Nice job documenting it too 💚
Ah that's great! Good luck with the move and the new project;, I'm sure they'll be amazing!! We have a special agreement here, so a bit hard to explain, but we're basically renting to buy. The goal is to make this a beautiful place to live now, and to hopefully own it in the future ☺❤
They're still our main future project. Being only a few minutes away from here, we get to go and work on the land whenever we need to. And now that we have a home, waiting (years) for the permits doesn't feel like such an issue 🙂
if You will constantly heat and ventilate Your house, and there is no more moisture, the wood beatles will die! Don't poison Your home! ...there is also the method of envelopping and heating the wood to 60⁰C...than all pest will be gone!
Thanks for the advice, we'll look into it more! We had considered just solving it with constant heat, but needed to take care of the active carcoma asap. However, we hope that by keeping the house warm and dry we will prevent any future issues and don't need to treat it further.
Hola, you have a beautiful home already. Don't be in too much of a rush to change things. Your young and part of the fun is planning & doing a little at a time. Make good for winter & enjoy your stunning surroundings. We've also just moved into an old house here in Spain, unlived in for over 20 years, full to the ceilings with rubbish, but after a year it's already home. We did this after living in a cabin for 6 years, no water, no electric, no mod cons, and best years ever. We then built a beautiful house that we lived in for 10 more years, but craved another project, and something old. So, at our ripe old age we are enjoying the challenges, and they keep coming 😂. Take your time, it's already a beautiful, cosy home. Love and thank you for a great video. ♥️
@@patriciapadgett4696 Thank you for the lovely message and reminder! You are so right, it's so important to enjoy the process. And good luck in your new project. It certainly sounds like you've created a very interesting life for yourselves. Lots of love ❤
Disappointed. You buy an old farm house and then want to change everything that makes it a farmhouse... why bother just building then as you are just destroying the character.
Sorry you're disappointed. I guess you're assuming that the house as it is now is how farmhouses in the area are, but that's not the case. The original cabañas Pasiegas (the name for the farms here) do not have any of the modern amenities and inside features this one has (you can see how they look in our land tour video). This house is a product of the renovations that multiple past owners have made in recent years. The only original features are the stone walls and roof, and the wood beams, all of which we are preserving. The home currently unfortunately does not function properly and is unsafe, so we have to work on it to bring it up to standard. We are also of the belief that different people are allowed to have different tastes, so whilst we're fixing it up we're going to make it suit us.
Your home is set in the most beautiful surroundings. The views are absolutely amazing. Truly blessed
We are!
the light swith of the bathroom is gorgeous, ancient style, rare. Don't change it please
I loved that house 🏠🏡.my god so peaceful.
The landscape is absolutely stunning.❤
I know right?! Definitely our favourite thing of this place 🥰
The light switch is so cool. Keep it.
They are cool! Just not very us. But we'll make sure they find new loving homes when we switch them out (no pun intended) 😀
I agree, the layout is much better with your living area upstairs and more open.👍

🤣 Perfect descriptor for Warner when using this kitchen!
Amazing! Your plans sound really wonderful, a good mix of old and new!
Super charming and again VIEWS!
I loved the light switch very rear

Great tour of your beautiful property guys, love the extra outside room, loads of possibilities.👍❤
Thank you!

Mil gracias ❤
The vista reminds me of The Sound of Music movie
I have the same thing; constantly feel like singing and twirling in the field!

We will try to remove the cement plaster in the future. It will be hard but definitely worth it!

Please sell that light switch, i would love it. Very cottagecore
I will! Would love for them to go to a lovely home ☺
Have you guys thought about installing a Star Link Satellite Dish for internet access?
Luckily the data router we have works great and fiber optic is being installed in the valley, so internet is never really an issue here 😀

What a beautiful house! Good luck with improving it, think of whitewashing the interior and installing strong lights, better for your mental health.
What happened to the other 4 cabins that you've bought and showed in some previous video?
They're still our main future project. Being only a few minutes away from here, we get to go and work on the land whenever we need to. And now that we have a home, waiting (years) for the permits doesn't feel like such an issue 🙂
NB. Move the beds together. Could be good for your relationship 😊
Hi! How do you manage your sewage? Do you have a collection tank or sediment field?
Hey Alex, we have a (badly build, needs replacement..) septic tank and a sediment field.
Lovely property! How much was it more or less?
Every detail you decide to change it increases the cost of renovation.
Would downstairs make a cool bedroom,
Ah great. Yes it's definitely worth it, But would you do it when you are living there and other things are in place?
Yeah, we will be living there, but will move/sleep in an other part of the cabin and will make sure to mitigate the dust as much as possible.
Happy to hear to hear that
Your front door horse shoe is on upside down! All your good luck falls out rather than collects in the bottom!
Ah that explains a lot 😂 It was already here when we moved and we had never noticed. We'll have to change it asap.
PS. Things you can't change - accept it
Espero que en invierno no sufran el vivir ahi.
Gracias! Nosotros también 😅
👌👍

There’s a disease called “ash dieback” 😢
Yeah, we know. We've confirmed that all the trees here are sick. 😥
