It is my opinion that nothing embodies the joy of Jesus's birth than symphonic metal (ironically enough!). I'd imagine this is what the host of angels that announced His birth to the world sounded like. I know some Christians would disagree with me, but metal in general is probably one of the best genres -if not THE best- to express how wonderful and powerful He is. After all, what could be more metal than God and His angels striking down and smiting Satan and his demons with holy might?

COVID may feel like a worldwide curse, but it's just a manifest symptom of everything broken in this world. Christmas reminds us that this must, can and will be put right one day.

It is like that moment in a classic hostage thriller when the hero peeks out, winks at the hostages, and gives an ironic salute to the devilish villain before vanishing again. Everything evil, vile and selfish is put on notice. "You may think you're winning, but I've got your number, and I'm coming for you." And that hope has always been free to share in.
