Thank you for sharing the issues you had with foiling. I love the way foiling looks but I have inconsistent results and I’m glad to know that you as the expert experience the same thing. Love your channel!
I love the zig zag texture die and the rotating board. I don't have a glimmer machine or foil. I just haven't gotten into it because of the expense but I do think it's all so pretty. What a nice subtle and lovely card to send to someone in their time of grief. Lovely job on the colors.
Probably the 130# is too thick. Also I have found I get better results if I only run threw the machine only once, can shift if you go forward and back. Love watching your videos, thank you for your hard work❤️
Lovely finished card. Wonderful to see you embracing the learning path of foiling... I have learned that I have less shifting of foil plates if I dislodge the platform (after it heats up) then add my foil, paper and shims. Just a thought.
Really beautiful card. Love the design of the cover plate. And the soft colors are wonderful. Very nice. A little tip- I always tape my foil plates down so they don’t move when going through my Platinum machine. It usually helps. Thanks for the lovely inspiration Cathy. 🙂
Cathy, that's a very pretty card. You could use it with any sentiment. You know what? I thought the first foil sentiment that had double lines actually looked like some elegant calligraphy, done on purpose. lol
Cathy, perhaps using the prism colored sentiments with layered solid color cardstock (maybe embossed?) would tone the "disco" feel. Thanks for always giving me great ideas and tips!
A beautiful sympathy card. All the elements on this card work at sending a heartfelt message. Thanks for the share. Look forward to your next card sesh 👉
I agree with the comment about only running through your die cut machine once or you can tape down your hot foil plates. The henge method works great for preventing those double images when hot foiling. It is a little extra time but worth it. It has saved me a lot in the long run. This card turned out gorgeous. I love the cool colors that you chose
Hi. Very pretty, I like the cheerful, uplifting yet respectfully muted/pastel colours of this card. Thank you for sharing this and a happy new year to all! ☺️
A pretty card for a not-so-pretty occasion. I agree w/ the person who mentioned the Easter color theme below. I like the plain silver as it seems more approrpriate for sympathy than the "prism" foil, although the prism foil is gorgeous. The person who mentioned the "rainbow bridge" for pets who have crossed that bridge is really thinking! Perfect! As always, you've inspired and instructed. Thanks, CZ! Lori S in PA
Gorgeous card Cathy. I watched a video on foiling, can't remember who's but they said not to run the glimmer plate back and forth through the die cutting machine as this can shift the foil plate.
I love the pastel kind of coloring for this card. The fact that there's no flowers on a sympathy card is awesome. Try Hammermil paper. It works wonderful with the foil and machine
Beautiful card. It may help to not have the sentiments straight across horizontally but tilt them or place them vertically like when you cut rectangle and square dies.
Thank you for a beautiful sympathy card, Cathy. I always struggle with making sympathy cards. I send the most get well and sympathy cards so I'm always looking for new designs and ideas.
The double foiling looks like you meant to do it! They look great ! Look at them again. They look like something people try to do on purpose, doubly calligraphy. Look at them again. There are places they aren’t double. The places they are look great!
Love the card! Fyi, spellbinders makes "yellow" tape that you can use to tape down items on the glimmer machine. Also, if you tape your two plates together they don't shift as much.
I have better results if I place the sentiments in the other direction on the hot foil plate so the go through the machine the long way. They don’t shift that way. If you want to try something fun get some Tim Holtz Ranger silver sparkle yupo for alcohol ink it foils beautifully! I love the Therm O Web hot foils my favorite colors are rose gold, twilight, rainbow and green❤️
Gorgeous card in the end. I love it. FYI - You can’t get double foiling from dislodging your plates from the glimmer machine. Double foiling comes from not having the glimmer plates secured when you roll it through your die cut machine more than one time. Four smaller plates don’t go back-and-forth just go through one time or you can tape them on securely.
The problem with shifting foil plates is the reason I always use the hinge method anymore. Nancy Stamps also has a RUclips video on taping your glimmer plates together to prevent the shifting of hot foil plates. I haven't tried it yet, but that may also be a solution.
Beautiful card. Thank you for the great directions on the card stock for foiling. I just got a foiling machine for Christmas and I am trying to find good videos for using it.
Thank you, Cathy, for demonstrating foiling results on different card stocks. After refraining from jumping on the foiling bandwagon for a long time, I decided to gift myself the Glimmer machine for Xmas. I was terrified to try it, but bit the bullet this past weekend. My first try turned out perfectly, but it was on acetate while I wait on my Hammermill. Watched a Pinkfresh video beforehand in which her (Heather?) two tips to avoid the halo effect are to disengage the platform before building the sandwich and to run it through the die cutting machine only once.
As a few people already mentioned, I was told by the owner of my LSS that the skipping or doubling does happen when you go forward AND back, so that I shouldn't do that. Of course, it's force of habit, and just as she said...when I did it, it doubled! (I'd save and use those that you made anyway, and maybe ink in between the lines with a coordinating color, so it looks intentional.) Love your cards as always, Cathy!
Beautiful card! I learned from Heather and Lea (from Pinkfresh Studio) to pass it through my die cut machine once, especially if not taping the plate down to prevent shifting.
After the glimmer plate is hot, you can move it to your die cutting machine and then arrange your hot foil dies. Try going through the die cutting machine just once rather than back and forth.
12:00 - Totally reminds me of that Sex and The City scene where Charlotte said, "Those flowers were supposed to say "We're so sorry, we love you," not "You're dead, let's disco"! 🤣
One of the things I read in the instructions is that let the dies heat without anything on top, then undock and place foil and paper on top of the dies and run thru die cut machine. The first two times I used the machine I did this and everything turned out great.
Beautiful card! This is one of those cards that could be made ahead & the sentiment added as needed. Has your cord on your Gemini Jr become more flexible with use? I have mine on a turntable, but the cord is so stiff; it’s almost like it’s fighting me! 😂 Thanks for sharing! 😊❤️
I think the over foiling might be happening when you run it twice through the Spellbinders machine forward then backward. The foil slips a little and creates over foiling.
Very nice card. Do you think the double foiling might be happening when you run through the die cut machine twice? I just got a Glimmer machine and can’t wait to try it out!
Cathy, try taking your foiling out after only running it forward thru the die cutting machine-don't go backward through. Ihave much better luck this way, no overfoiling either.
I love that you show us what doesn’t work too.
Many things don't when I used them! hahah.
You managed to make a card that nobody really likes to make into a nice thing. Very nice card
Thank you for sharing the issues you had with foiling. I love the way foiling looks but I have inconsistent results and I’m glad to know that you as the expert experience the same thing. Love your channel!
You are so welcome!
That is really beautiful! I love that color combination and the pattern!
Beautiful card. The “rainbow” greeting would be good on a card when a fur baby passes.
Great idea!!
Cathy’s word of the year this year is “Mélange”
I thought her word was "little."
I was coming to say this! I love it
I love the zig zag texture die and the rotating board. I don't have a glimmer machine or foil. I just haven't gotten into it because of the expense but I do think it's all so pretty. What a nice subtle and lovely card to send to someone in their time of grief. Lovely job on the colors.
Beautiful sympathy card! Love the combo of techniques. After watching you master foiling, I may need to try it. 🤩
What a nice color combo. You should try Tim’s media grip mat to keep dies in place and only run through die cut machine once to avoid skipping.
A sand eraser or a battery operated eraser will remove any over-foiling you have so you don’t waste your supplies. Beautiful card!
Love the card...thanks for sharing.
The card is so beautiful, love the colors, stunning.ty
I never would have thought to use those colors on a sympathy card, but it really did turn out beautiful!
I am so spoiled by your design(s) and clean/simple cards. This is gorgeous
Thank you so much!
Probably the 130# is too thick. Also I have found I get better results if I only run threw the machine only once, can shift if you go forward and back. Love watching your videos, thank you for your hard work❤️
This is so simple and so beautiful!
A beautiful card and such a thoughtful colour palette. Just lovely 💕
What a beautiful card Cathy!
Lovely finished card. Wonderful to see you embracing the learning path of foiling... I have learned that I have less shifting of foil plates if I dislodge the platform (after it heats up) then add my foil, paper and shims. Just a thought.
beautiful card - I love that plate and stencil
Beautiful card. Z! Still waiting for the new craft room tour!!! ❤
Beautiful and elegant card!
That stenciled panel is beautiful! you picked the perfect colors for this.
The colors are very soothing and pretty.
Really beautiful card. Love the design of the cover plate. And the soft colors are wonderful. Very nice.
A little tip- I always tape my foil plates down so they don’t move when going through my Platinum machine. It usually helps.
Thanks for the lovely inspiration Cathy. 🙂

So pretty, so calming. Love your colour choice!
Love the soft pallet on this card. ❤
This is a beautiful card!
Thanks Cathy.

Beautiful card!!!!! I went and ordered the plate and stencils right away! Love it! Thank you!
any card with vellum is my kind of card!
love the background ...i love textured cards!\
That is beautiful! Adding the die plate and stencils to my wish list.
Very pretty colors, turned out great! TFS , as usual enjoyed watching. Ty

Cathy, this card is beautiful. You made it look so easy :) Thank you for sharing. (Love your channel!)
Beautiful card! ❤ Thank you for letting us see when something doesn’t come out as expected and how to troubleshoot it. 😊
Absolutely loving this color combo. ❤😍
Hi Cathy, the 3 colours are very pretty. Lovely card.
So lucky to have just found you! I'm in Minnesota too!
Love your work!
Awesome! Thank you!
Gorgeous card Cathy. I watched a video on foiling, can't remember who's but they said not to run the glimmer plate back and forth through the die cutting machine as this can shift the foil plate.

Beautiful card. It may help to not have the sentiments straight across horizontally but tilt them or place them vertically like when you cut rectangle and square dies.
Stunning ... I love that stencil ... the colors are amazing 😊
Lovely. The colors are so nice. With a different sentiment, would make a great Easter card too. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great idea!
Very nice card Cathy
Stunning card and such beautiful colors!

Such a lovely sympathy card!
Beautiful!
Beautiful and elegant card.
The stitched banned was genius! Thank you!
Well, I don't know if GENIUS is the right word but… i'll take it! hahah
Love the card! Fyi, spellbinders makes "yellow" tape that you can use to tape down items on the glimmer machine. Also, if you tape your two plates together they don't shift as much.
Oh right!
I really like this card. I did not see a product listing for your magnet pickup tool. Whenre can you get that?
It comes with the Glimmer Machine but you can buy them separately:

Love the card. Clean and simple... perfect for the reason for the card.. ps nice jumper Cathy

Thanks, Kathi! I just picked up a lot of great tips in the comments today and I'm going to put all of them to use the next time a foil!

hello happy new year cathy looking foward to another year of your amazing videos. my word for this year is change.
Love the glass mat, I ordered one! Can't wait to get to use it soon, I had surgery on my ankle and can't walk right now.
Oh, fast healing to you!
Beautiful card. Thank you for the great directions on the card stock for foiling. I just got a foiling machine for Christmas and I am trying to find good videos for using it.
You know who has great videos on hot foil? @yanasmakula!
@@czdesign Thank you I subscribe to her channel too. I will make sure I have seen all of her videos on foiling.
Love this I was wondering what do you use for your labels
I use the Brother P-Touch Label Printer! It works great: ldli.co/e/m5nxgrr
Beautiful card as always. I haven't tried foiling yet, think I am gonna have to.
You should!

That just never occurred to me! thanks for the tip!
Another beauty, Cathy! Thank-you!
Thanks again!
Perfect colours!
Look at you! Experimenting intentionally while foiling! May I ask do you keep your extra sentiments with the dies/foil plates or somewhere else?
Just in a little dish! in case I need them!
very nice card
I always have shadow effect if I put my plates on while on the Glimmer. Now I put the plates on when I run it through my Platinum 6.
Very pretty card❤
Beautiful card! I learned from Heather and Lea (from Pinkfresh Studio) to pass it through my die cut machine once, especially if not taping the plate down to prevent shifting.
Yes, will be trying that!
Gosh Cathy. This one is so lovely!! Really wonderful ❤
After the glimmer plate is hot, you can move it to your die cutting machine and then arrange your hot foil dies. Try going through the die cutting machine just once rather than back and forth.
Beautiful card!
Do you ever use the grid on your mat to line things up on your projects?
I never think to do that!
Beautiful card ❤

Ohhhhh. Great tip! i will try that!
Pet sympathy cards are desired in my community. The rainbow foil would be appropriate because the sentiment often refers to the rainbow bridge.
Oh that is wonderful idea!
Oh I said that as well. Read comments Wendy before you post.
When are you posting a tour?
Well, i have to film it. I'm hoping to do some filming this week and next. I promise it will happen!
It has gotten a bit softer but yeah, it's a thick one!
Beautiful
I think the over foiling might be happening when you run it twice through the Spellbinders machine forward then backward. The foil slips a little and creates over foiling.
Yes! Thank you!
Sweet card 🌹
Beautiful 🤩
Very nice card. Do you think the double foiling might be happening when you run through the die cut machine twice? I just got a Glimmer machine and can’t wait to try it out!
Oh! it might!!!
I like letterpress paper for foiling
I have never tried that!
Cathy, try taking your foiling out after only running it forward thru the die cutting machine-don't go backward through. Ihave much better luck this way, no overfoiling either.
Yes! Will do!
