Excellent video. Very nice explanation. Keep up the good work. Its really helps to refresh the concepts in a practical manner. Thanks Microstrategy Rooster.
Thanks for the detailed description! Could you please share if there is anyway we can create a derived element from Desktop without converting the report into I-cube? Also is there anyway we can edit the derived elements on an attribute in a report from desktop, if those derived elements were implemented in from web ?? As of now in Desktop it only shows that attribute contains hard coded derived elements with a sigma sign but doesnt allow us to edit or modify anything. We have to log in PROD to do so. Thank you for your help!
Valid point. Derived Elements are like view filters that only operate post-SQL. However apparently MicroStrategy didn't implement a place to place derived elements in the standard grid (via developer). To get around this, first place your report in a Dashboard then create a derived element - this might help you get what you want because you can create derived elements on grids placed within dashboards (just make sure your grid is not setup as a shortcut within the Dashboard.
