He is getting married. He is making beer and fishing. All of his sponsors are staying with him as a free surfer. His decision was a no brainer. Plus the WSL awards more for airs than the power moves. Connor had an air game but he is better as a power surfer with an insane rail game.
Great surfer but he needed major air training in the foam pit. Can’t compete today with no air game. I know it’s obvious but no one wants to mention the lack of that skill set that’s was the real reason for today’s decision.

If having an air game is foregoing sections and looking for a ramp on every wave, you are correct he didn't have an air game. He grew up surfing Rincon and idolizing Curren and Dane. So he cares about flow and power way more. I hear the same stupid arguments about Ethan. You should go surf and be in the water with these guys and then tell me they don't have an air game. Also, shows me you only view surfing through the competitive lens....which is a shame because the best surfers in the world aren't on tour. Go watch edits by Rasta or Torryn Martin.

WSL and surfing competition(s) Kinda like battle of the bands or Rembrandt vs Van Gogh. Pretty childish and super subject! Yes I do get it it's hard for these super talented guys to showcase they're surfing, but lol a competition in surfing is and will always be a joke. But hey we get the joke and people do play along... Conner was and is a bad ass with or without the WSL always enjoyed watching him, and wish him the best. NOW he can go out and do some `real surfing, like a musician playing in the moment from the heart and soul, instead of playing to a bunch of judges, that's the real deal in surfing -- surfing in the moment from the soul vs 'all the contrived LINES,' to do for others not yourself.
