Something Chapo misses in the movie. In the bug society it's obvious that each bug has a job that is determined by their morphology. A tanker bug, soldier, brain bug etc. A brain bug is never going to be a tanker bug, and a soldier is never going to be a brain bug.
What's not so obvious is that the whole beginning of the movie isn't just a way for us to get to know our protagonists. Verhoeven doesn't waste one second of reel time in the movie. Carl's psychic ability, Rico's bad test scores, Carmen's piloting abilities. It's showing us the way the fascist society is vetting them into their various roles. Which is analagous to the way the bug society works. Rico is never going to fleet, Carmen isn't psychic, and so on. The way that they're born, and to some extent are trained, to fulfill a defined role is not so different from bug society.
What's interesting is the only one of the main four who kind of shirks her position was Dizzy, when she followed Johnny to mobil infantry. And she ends up being the only one killed. So it's kind of like "She didn't do the thing she was meant to do and look what ends up happening to her". So if we're looking at the film of some fascists society that's making a propaganda piece, that would a very important message. Not to step outside of strictly defined norms.

@@freakyzed8467 no I’m not saying that it’a true just because they didn’t disprove it, I was just curious what the actual explanation was.
The whole idea is that expensive furniture on wayfair is actually a front for sex trafficking because some of the designs have human names. Some genius thought a filing cabinet was too much and the only reasonable explanation was that they are selling people on wayfair for 1,200$ each. There’s not much to disprove.
