A lesson from my art class on Skillshare - skl.sh/3qJ73iH
‘How To Use Your Own Photos For Image Transfers’.
Recently, I have been exploring the process of creating image transfers on the gel plate, and there is nothing more satisfying than using your own images for this creative pursuit.
In this demonstration, I will show you step-by-step the process for creating an image transfer using your own photo with a colour laser copy. Watch as I create the print, and then use stencils to add texture to the gel plate. Using a transparent mixing white, the transfer is then printed onto a piece of textured paper and it is just beautiful!
You will love this! There is nothing so deeply satisfying as using your own photos to create beautiful artworks. You can use photos of your family, friends, kids, cat, car, holiday, whatever it is that you treasure!

Thank you so much for the pep talk. When I was 10 my stepfather and I painted some art and my mother had custom made frames made for his but not mine. His are still hanging in her kitchen. I put mine in a box and I remember feeling so hurt. I didn’t paint again for a very long time. One day at work I said to a friend I really want to paint and she said, so paint. She was an artist and she took me shopping for art supplies. It was a fantastic experience and I’ve been painting ever since. I was getting on the subway one day and a woman said to me, I can look at you and tell you’re an artist. I felt like she really saw me and who I was inside. I paint every day now since I’ve retired and my art is hanging all over the house. My mother loves it too. Took a while but I’m so glad I didn’t give up. Froyle please do some more pep talks. I love your energy. Thanks for the continuous inspiration.
Thanks so much!😘 Cheers Froyle

I am using regular acrylic very very thin coat (not heavy body) still doesnt work...would you increase the toner on the printer ? I changed the printer to maximum contrast...still doenst work😢
Thanks for you lovely work!
Yes, it's the toner that resists the paint and makes it stick to the gel plate. Try running your print through twice to build up the toner, Cheers
😀
I love this technique, Cheers Froyle
