- Faixa do álbum "Slade In Flame" lançado em 1974, 'How Does It Feel' saiu como single em 02/75 chegando ao #15 na inglaterra e #6 na França.
"How Does It Feel" is a single from glam rock band Slade which appeared on the album Slade in Flame. It was written by lead singer Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea. The single was released in early 1975. The single only peaked at #15 in the UK which was the lowest charting since Slade's first charting single Get Down and Get With It in 1971. The first week in the top 100, the single only began at #38 which was poor for a Slade single.
The ballad, featuring brass instruments and flute, was at the time thought to be too far from the fans' expectations. Noel Gallagher of the British band Oasis however has claimed the track to be, "one of the best songs written, in the history of pop, ever".
I'm here because of BEHS!
In the United States, all we heard of Slade was Run Run Away and Quiet Riot's covers of Cum on Feel The Noise and Mama Were all Crazy. Looks like i need to do a deep dive into their discography because this song is WONDERFUL!
Same! Long love the BEHS man!
Right! Forget Geddy Lee, here's Jim Lea!
Same!
I never understood why their earlier hits never caught on in America
Same same!
Holder is one of the most overlooked and underrated vocalists in rock history!
He also used to let men shit on a glass coffee table while he lay underneath whilst he was a young struggling musician in Hamburg. Fun fact. Anything to get by I suppose
Well not really
That was Stallone…😂
If Paul McCartney wrote this, it would be hailed as one of the all time greats. Wonderful
I agree. But to me it's still on of the greatest songs ever regardless
I have to agree with you ❤
class @@andywilson5906
Totally agree with you
I don't think Slade have ever had the credit they fully deserve, they did some wonderful songs........... and stayed together
I feel sorry for everyone who doesn't know this song. Simply beautiful! ❤
Best slade song by a country mile.
That's a big call because they made so many great songs , but I think your right
Cum On Feel The Noize takes some beating though 👍
@@markbarrett4440 Good shout , that is a great song
Far far away for me easily x
Agreed but I also feel In Like Shot From My Gun, Coz I Luv You (because of the bassline) in my eyes are all equal....
Just a tad behind and in second place runs See Us Here See Us There (wonderful bassline again from Play It Loud), Dapple Rose (Play It Loud again), Come on Feel The Noise (the best of their number ones) and perhaps Everyday (their best ballad). They also covered a wonderful version of Darling Be Home Soon written by John Sebastian....
They had some great songs and Don Powell co-wrote In Like A Shot From My Gun (there's no studio version, only the live version on Slade Alive)....he didn't write as much in their later years (sadly)...
This man Noddy can sing anything. He goes from tender to roaring so easily! Such a great voice. Underrated.
Мы ценим !
A real howler , overrated.
@@Kirkee7 not by anyone with taste
@@duncanbirss8923It's the difference between singing melodically and howling .
@@Kirkee7 as I say Henry , great singer and great group
How does this feel in 2023? Legend!
I think this is my favourite Slade song. Such an under-appreciated band and lead singer
No he isn`t!! :D
Noddy's vocal delivery makes this song the masterpiece it is. I honestly never expected to hear Slade pull such an introspective song out of their hats like this, but Noddy knocked it out of the park with the emotion in his voice.
Underrated?????????? They had six no 1 hits in the 70s behind only the Beatles and the Stones.
@@markredmond2014 under-appreciated, not underrated. Everyone goes on about Lennon and McCartney, Jagger, etc. But Slade gave us some great tunes.
@@markredmond2014 Slade is one of those bands that were huge in their home country but never quite repeated that success in the US. Two of those #1 hits in the UK are only known in the US due to Quiet Riot covering them ten years later. Crying shame, as the Slade versions had a raw, spontaneous quality to them that the over-produced Quiet Riot versions lacked.
Fan for 50 years now. Greetings from Finland. Thanks.
Slade are just legendary to the core in every way.
A underrated, underplayed, masterpiece from one of the best rock bands ever!
A song written and performed in the 70s and it is still so relevant today 40 odd years later. I was a teenager in the 70s the best music era ever
Feel lucky to have grown up in the 70s best era ever
I wasn’t born until 83 and grew up listening to the 70s and no matter what else comes out I like I always end up back at the 70s
Yes me too!
so was I nothing matches
And I agree with Noel Gallagher, this is the best track by "Slade"!
Scarborough in 1980 with my old fella and mar listening to this with rum and raisin ice cream on the penny machines in arcade best days ever
Happy Times
I was a teenager too in the 70s , please bring our music back.
Noddy has got one of the best singing voices ever...
The best!!!
He was considered to take over for Bon in AC/DC. That woulda been something.
1st time I've heard it was today on Ken Bruce Radio 2 show. (His last show) love this tune....straight off the bat. Beautiful. 🥰
It’s Ken’s favourite record
Love this track. That melancholic melody is timeless.
Underrated because they were a singles band. But what a band! Noddy's voice is incredible.
Noddy....one of the absolute greatest voice of all time
One of the best British singles of all time.
John Lennon once said this was a classic superbly done.
He was totally right..
Another classic from Jim Lea and Noddy Holder. Fantastic songwriting.
For me the best Band of all time
And my Childhood Heroes ❤
One of the greatest songs by one of England's greatest bands sang by one of thee great voices, frontmen and rock personalities!!!
Noddy Holder & Slade
Very very underated
Yup.
Totally! 👏👍
Wolverhampton’s finest - criminally underrated song.
Superb musicians every one of them - totally under rated...... ooooffffff!!!!
Dave Hill playing bass and playing it very well. I’ve been a slade fan for 48 years and still play their songs which still hold up today, not many bands can claim that.
gotta listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmos Factory also terribly underrated band
@@wildSAsavage52 CCR is *not* underrated.
It's all lip-synch. Dave isn't really playing. The guitars aren't even plugged in. :(
@@magnificentfailure2390 hmm ... are CCR in R N R Hall of Fame tho ?
У вас отличный вкус!
Slade in flame is for me the best rock movie ever made and this song is without don’t there finest moment 😎😎😎
I had forgotten this song, until I heard it played on Ken Bruce’s last radio show, . Now I repeat it over in my mind!! 😅
For Me, this was one of the band's best songs. It stands up there with the best from any group and time has not diminished it.
the most freaking under rated band of all times. so gifted and what a natural unique voice.
flying so high, high in the sky, just flying by.. you will never again have pure blooded English faces like that .noddy holder he was born to play Dr. Who after Tom Baker
Noddy, the man who grew into his old face and then laughed as all around aged around him. Legend, hope they make up and tour.
They did a while ago, maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Saw them in Hastings, was phenomenal
That's right! Child growing up in the 70's and was never sure about this hairy faced man...58 now and Slade blow my socks off
He’s terminally ill
BEHS! ............Freakin' brilliant . I'm glad Danny recommended this . I agree with him, it's a songwriter's song for sure. It does have everything you could possibly ever want . It's in the top 5 .
Great tune. Im here because of Noel G
It actually sounds a bit like « Stop Crying Your Heart Out » I thought.
I bloody loved Slade
Best song by Slade easily .
Absolutely one of them..!!!!
I agree..It should have been a huge hit.
no come on feel the noise
Could be a few, but When the lights are out for me.
Hard to say, so many good songs I particularly like Far , Far Away.
It takes something for me to post a comment. But I have to say, this is a minor masterpiece of a song. Hats off to Jim Lea for penning it and for Noddy singing it.
Thanks for posting. Great representation of 70s music. I can't believe I found this, I loved this track.
Probably the best Slade song ever !
same
Best rock n roll voice ever. Period.
Beautifull!
Slade possibly one of the most underrated rock bands of all time
How can a band sound this good!!! Omg
Worth looking up books like 1971...this Band toured night after night & played their socks off to get success. Love them.
I remember in the 70s I was 12 maybe and my dads friend was talking about slade. My dad was in to pink Floyd and I was listening to kiss and led Zeppelin. I'm 61 now and I hear what I missed back then they were a great band
Have to say, I cant think of any band that is better than slade
What a fkn AMAZING band!!
Tolle Stimme, tolles Lied und es war eine super Zeit!
A masterpiece!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How have I never heard of this? This is an amazing song. That bass player is incredible. Thanks Danny Sapko for sending me this direction!
The actual bass player for the band is on piano for this song. The guy playing bass is usually lead guitar.
@@fritzthecat2634 Dave Hill! That little flourish he did at the end was adorable !!
@@carolebarker2195 I remember seeing Dave Hill say he told Noddy "You write 'em, I'll sell 'em." Lol
@@fritzthecat2634 I can imagine him saying that, lol !!
2025, still love this song, first heard it when I was 13 and its felt relevant so often through the years.
By far the best song they ever wrote fantastic tune . Noddy's voice is just perfection for this track.
This song is easilly as good as a good Beatle's song.....brilliant.
Agree with you 100% my mate said the same thing an hour ago!!
I would rank it above most Beatles songs, and I mean that with no knock whatsoever to the Beatles. It’s just that good.
Have to agree with you. I'm the world's biggest Beatles fan. This is as good as anything the fab four could muster.
Steve Morse totally agree it’s a classic
Not that hard really
One of their best songs in my opinion.
Most underrated band of all time! Noddy is up there with Lennon on the vocal front....god like song.
What a voice..
one of the greatest bands ever, and i,m 66 now.
What a great song. So underrated
My favourite slade song 👍
This is a stunning song
Slade are a great band
Happy days
Slade made some great great songs 🎵 very underrated band, & and a credit to the west midlands ❤
"Flame" is a great movie and certainly one of the best music related movies ever.
This is one of the greatest songs ever. Pure and simple and brilliant. 😍
What a song 😊👍class
Not played enough, great song, great lyrics.
What a song. One of the best ever.
Great vocal performance.
Even back then I had the feeling that this song was the end of an era. The musical world had changed. The lightness that Slade, T.Rex, Sweet etc. had in their songs was over. When I hear the song today, the feeling hasn't changed for me.
Was nine or ten when I first heard this on the radio. The “know, know, know” hits me right in the gut and takes me back to my room playing the Striker football game with my best friend and my mom bringing us lemonade and buttered bisquits. What a treat a pure memory is.
Slade just sound better and better as the years go by.......fantastic band and a brilliant song.
So underrated proper English band we don't get many of them now. And might I add there is a fabulous innocence about their music that we all love
Great tune... What a voice....
Brilliant Slade ..love you always 🥰
Pure class
One of the greatest songs ever, greatest rock voice ever, the one and only Noddy Holder !
Amazing lyrics , brilliant song , hugely underrated band , Noddy had the best vocals
Jim Lea is an underrated musical genius
Still loving this fantastic song in 2021, how does it feel!!!!!
Watching again tonight; can’t leave it!
Brilliant song 🎵 great vocals 👏 ❤
Brilliant
Classic song from a classic band...great
The most underestimated band ever real rock the mighty Noddy.
They were never underestimated.
Not underestimated mate.. But only we know how truly great this band were. Back in the day.. And I'm glad I was around at the time.. Thank you Slade..
Sold millions of records and concert tickets. Underestimated? Is English not your 1st language?...
What a great sound!! And Mann the singer certainly rocked a mighty set of 'chops', as well as vocals. Back in the days when a little thing called TALENT went a long way without looks getting in the way! Great times. Check out Atomic Rooster Back Snake Live 1972 clip. Not as good as these guys of course, but still worth a mention. Love the vocals.
I would say underremembered.
This is still a worthy Christmas song, for those more thoughtful, pondering, contemplative moments you have during that time. It's deep if you listen to the lyrics... a very fine song indeed.
The comment below that says this is as good as any song written by the Beatles is spot on. Just a tremendous song.
Great song and group , had a dozen great hits or so , loved them but the beatles had 200 songs , and most were great .
I agree
What a wonderful age I grew up in, I was 15 at the time and it's amazing how good this still sounds and I don't think that's just nostalgia speaking.
Brilliant tune
From Kentucky USA love Slade
Simply brilliant this along with "Everyday" showed the could do the more sensitive stuff just as well.
Wow, brilliant, 62 years on this planet and never heard of them. What a voice!!
One of the greatest bands ever, Unique vocals, come on Slade it’s now time for a reunion! I’d pay to see it. Bring on the O2...
Sadly will never happen. Last time they all sat down to talk about it ended in tears.
@@Prince66Mia Noddy knows what an assherL Dave is , he is tired of all that , it will never happen
It could also be an embarrassment. And I think Noddy can't roar like he used to anymore. Let the good memories of the band intact.
Surprisingly it should have been one of their biggest hits. Its my personal fave from my teenage years.
One of my all-time favourite songs.
What an awesome front man, what an awesome voice... & a great song too
I was 13 in 1975 and was a great fan of Slade then and now. This one is my favourite.
Just re-reading Dave Hill's brilliant book about his life. Slade left behind such wonderful music, and should be very proud of what they gave all of us. Thanks for uploading this time machine Andre.
I was 3 when this played, a long long time ago..........only now is it making sense...
The very best Slade track. Period
One of my favorite bands for over 42 years. Great voice Noddy
Still listening in 2020 and this song takes on a completely new meaning in light of the COVID Pandemic
Same here👌 noel gallagher brought me here
me too
Great tune and beautiful vocals
What a song
Greatest rocker ever. Best voice. Miss him.
A fantastic band very underrated should go out on tour again
