In an average year, 9,000 people graduate from Harvard, but about 1,700 graduate from TBS.

@@jdpotter3927 How things have changed. My field transport pack was dated 1943. Our FTX started with loading a transport. Sailing around. Traditional steak and eggs. Coming down the cargo net . Forgot the nunciature of the land craft and assaulting Onslow Beach. Then Re-embarked, Climbing back up the cargo net. You actually felt what Marines felt 30 years before. Nobody was shooting but the Marines of the opposing forces. but you felt the rush. We had no sand tables. We were crossed trained. We had no Officer Infantry School. Our schooling came from Corporal and Buck Seargent that had been to Vietnam and you weren´t strong headed ask questions or ask for advice until you get your feet wet. Right out of Basic Schoo I become XO Echo 2/2, Platoon Commander, then Battalion Supply Officer. All this before making Ist Lieutenant. S-3Z Marines. The young LTs look well-prepared versus us hitting the ground running..The class before us was the last to see combat. Bet you lost people in Iraq.. The best tour was Observer of NATo Exercises in Germany and TDT with 42 Commando, Royal Marine Commando /UK in Norway..Semper FI MAC

I tried applying for OCS a few times, but kept getting rejected. They expect you to have the leadership skills of a sensei, the strength of Superman, the brain of Einstein, and certain ACT/SAT scores even after you have already have a bachelor's degree.

Makes sense being an officer is way harder than enlisted as your not only expected to follow orders but be a strong leader as well
