Thanks for continuing the videos, Roger. but take it easy! I also struggle with back issues sometimes and know how every move we take for granted in normal circumstances is a real struggle. Hope the back returns to normal soon. Elisabeth
Hi roger what a super looking orchid i love the shape and colour of the blooms. Take care of yourself back problems ar a night mare ,also thanks for the info regarding large bark i now have some on the whey your a Gent sir all the best.
Hope you feel better soon, Roger! Thanks for this video. I'd put mine out in the hot last summer, and this explains why it looked a mess when I brought it in a few weeks later.
That bloom is absolutely gorgeous 😍 I have recently purchased my first coelogyne and of course it's a cristata, so I did smile to myself when you said if you have one coelogyne it's probably a cristata 😂. I'll be excited if mine blooms this year, I'm in Australia so just trying to nurse it through our hot summer/autumn at the moment. Hope your back improves soon Roger
Trying to replicate a cooler Summer due to elevation is almost impossible. I can remember going up a ski-lift in Summer - left in a short-sleeved tee-shirt and at the top needed a coat - and the air was so fresh.
Hi Roger, I recently acquired several different Coelogynes. Thank you for sharing how you grow your cristata. It would be helpful for my plants if you could share information about how you grow your other Coelogynes sooner than when they bloom. Or do you treat them all the same? I’ve read some of the ancient scrolls, but I find your experiences to be very educational. It is quite interesting when you share how you create different growing conditions within one growroom.
I was at iur monthly orchid sociaty meeting, and one member had a very big Ceologyne cristata groving in a basket ( it was a beauty). He told he grow them abit like Cymbidiums. Outside the whole summer, with morning sun. And no, I have an other Ceologyne. Next time you can go shopping, buy a big bag of frosen peas for your back! Good to have in the freazer for emergency!
Thanks Roger for this in-depth review of a plant, how it grows and blooms. I have Coel cristata and Coel Unchained Melody. They both grew a new bulb for me last year, but haven't bloomed this year. I kept them well watered and fed over the winter. I'll have to cut back on the water when they're not actively growing to see if that makes a difference. Mine will be warm in the summer. With the A/C on that will be around 25 C.
This is probably the wrong place to ask about Nobile winter rests. When the cold arrives I put winter resters into my conservatory and never had a problem. This year due to the energy cost I reduced the heating in my conservatory and wondered if it was too cold. As at present so signs of life on resters. However I forgot about a rester and got lost on the greenhouse but it has not been watered. My greenhouse is slightly cooler than usual but nothing dramatic. But the forgotten nobile in the greenhouse has burst into flower and I only came across it as on flower. Any idea how???? I’m wondering if the greenhouse went to 12C was enough of a cool down and my conservatory was too cold? Other than that I’m lost.
There are some Dendrobiums classed as needing a drier cooler brighter Winter rest that should not get too cold or they shut down and can take a while to come back into growth - if too cold, some never do and are lost. 'CoolER' doesn't always mean cold - it's relative to the Summer temps.
I heard that Coelogyne cristata grow the new bulb from old spike. Should we leave the spike after bloom? I cut mine up to the very bottom and now she do not grow at all. 18 month since and nothing. It's green and a live.
Very nice plant. Hope your back gets better very soon. Nothing worse than a bad back and the weather don’t help.❤
Thanks.

I would depend where you live - sometimes 'outside' is too hot.
True, the south Holland. So about same climate as you.

One of my favorite genre is coelogyne. I got three kinds, rochusenii, pandurata and trinervis.
Some people are put off as many grow very large.
Nice video sir
Thanks.
Thañk you for this beauty. Perhaps it will take your mind off the
pain. Are you going to makè it to the chiropraçtor? Warm wishes❤
I wonder if in the capital of Egypt they are just called Practors?
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai you funny man! Probably!
I really hope I can lift and plant mine in one go, but I have no idea what media it's in, probably some heavy on the moss mix
I suspect some of the bark will fall off when mine comes out of the pot.
@@RogersOrchidsGardenandBonsai I'm going to take a look today, If I wake up today, I did a Roger this morning, up at 2.30 ! 😁

New growths come from the base of older bulbs many of which will not have bloomed.
Don’t think you should attempt the journey to London Roger. It can be a setback for your healing
I probably won't go as sitting still on the coach for so long could cause problems.
