You've got to hand it to Kermit. He doesn't just stand there and bark orders. He's in the thick of it, working with his crew. I love biplanes, and that's a beauty!
If only they could have retained those fine slim profile wings - the lower ones at the attachment segment have a laminar profile, that would probably have made for a 350+ mph Hurricane.
Love you Guys! Love the new addition. When I went to A&P school in San Diego CA. They had us machine tools for the rigging of Bi Plane guy wires. Now retried from 45 years in the aviation field it never gets old watching the old airplanes come back to life.
Brilliant. I am sad that the Shuttleworth Collection didn't keep it in Britain, but if it had to leave you are about the best person to have it. I used to ride past the Shuttleworth airfield every Wednesday when I lived near there.
Very, Very nice Hawker! Those planes were originally designed as bombers, but the British fighters of the time couldn't catch them, so the other fighter versions were derived. AMAZING!
The reargun compartment offers a lot of fresh air and an unforgettable grandstand in any air battle. Also wonder what 'special' agency has to sign those 'deactivated' guns - maybe Kermit made an offer one could not refuse ?
What a great acquisition for your museum and enjoyment. The prewar British designs had some great lines and Hawker just seemed to make some beautiful aircraft that time period.
Sad to see she's left us in the UK BUT we still have two Nimrods, a Fury, Hind AND several projects! A beautiful aeroplane and sounds fantastic...! Enjoy her!
Kermit, so hands on..love it! 👊🏼 I guessed from the title, and then I heard ‘Kestrel’ so awesome.. As my surname is Hart, it’s still close enough.. I have seen this aircraft fly a few times at Shuttleworth and Duxford. It sounds so good.. Congratulations Kermit, fantastic aeroplane 👏🏼👏🏼🔥
I'm glad I saw this fly in the UK when I did. Quite surprised to learn of its departure this way. I hope The Shuttleworth Collection still has the Hind and can get that up in the air again.
Congratulations on the Demon! What a great and cool aircraft to add to the collection! I feel so fortunate I was able to visit Fantasy of Flight when it was still open. Thank you for keeping the videos coming!
@@alanholloway1264it’s not been closed, open during certain weekdays and open mostly on weekends the whole month of May will be closed the original hanger may be closed possibly from reading the website
you have, by far, the coolest unboxing videos kermit! you guys must have a doctorate in ratchet strap operation by now lol! driving that tug around looks like fun. if im remembering correctly, i believe the forklift i learned on was a clark.
When you wrapped the nylon strap around the crankshaft you weren't in the center and one side(starboard) was just a little longer than the port side. As balanced as the plane is, it would only need a 1/4" difference for the plane to list to port. If you just put a basket under the crankshaft it will balance itself but then you need to tie the sling back so you don't pull it off, the crank. Maybe tighten up the pull straps. You really need some better rigging so you aren't cowboying the hook ups. When you are using knots nothing is going to be the same length.
Geee Kermit, by the time you did all that work, unpacking your new, really cool treasure, I bet you slept like a baby. Hope I can climb tall containers when I reach your age. Just retired Kiwi. Nice to see New Zealand get a wee mention too. Sir Sydney Camm was a real saviour for Hawker and the British Empire. Nice to see one of his designs in very good hands.
You do have the coolest job Kermit. A fantastic treasure that came out of that shipping container. Well done. Looking forward to see you flying it. 👍🇺🇸
I somehow get the feeling that Kermit will fly this one? He shows enthusiasm for all his purchases but seems over the moon with this particular acquisition! Seemed to bring out the demon in him!
Now Kermit...One does hope that your crew did receive a good “Naked in Jamaica!” grog issue. After this wonderful video I think I will don my Jimmy and my Zee caps for the rest of today.
First, we must thank Kermit because we know he will look after it, BUT, why did we allow such an important part of our aviation history to leave the UK?
I'm loving this video almost done what a awesome airplane man o man I'm still thawing out up here in Milton Florida we received 9.8 inches of snow no one was flying for a couple days lol how about the A-26 I'm always asking about it love that project thanks Kermit for another great video
That whole series was beautiful. I think they formed the basis for the Hurricane, which you'd think would look even more 'sexy.' I like the Hurricane but, to my eye, it loses the elegance of the Demon et al. Thanks for sharing your new gem.

I saw this at Demon at Old Warden in 2018, and got some beautiful photos of it. I looked it’s performance and look forward to seeing it grace the skies once more ❤ Have fun with this one Sir, you’re going to love this one!
As a Brit I'm very saddened to see this one leaving our shores and ending up somewhere that has no historical connection to it. I guess money talks and we didn't have anyone with the requisite wealth combined with the requisite enthusiasm to keep it here. I just hope that it doesn't end up languishing and deteriorating like the Mosquito and Sunderland have.
A fella I know in Queensland had a Rolls Royce engine for a Demon I was complete except for the supercharger, it came with paperwork recording times when it had been tested and we believed it was unused and never fitted to an aircraft He swapped the front of 1926 Dodge from the cowl forward for it, the fella he got it from had swapped a pair of WWII Japanese spilt toed sandshoes (sneakers) for it Eventually he tried to sell it, he wrote to Rolls Royce to see if they were interested in buying it, they didn't have one and wanted it but wanted him to donate it to them, he later sold it to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra for a thousand dollars Australian It was about thirty five years ago, at the time the trip from Far North Queensland to Canberra to deliver it and return cost him the thousand dollars in fuel for his ex army long wheelbase Toyota Land Cruiser "troop carrier" but he was happy for his four young sons to see the museum at the War Memorial He'd had a carpenter make it a solid wooden stand and it was on it's stand in the back of the "troopie" and looked like it was fitted and powering the thing with his four young sons in the back with it on the original fold down military seats facing the engine like little inflight mechanics positioned around it to service it while running
Please be real careful when working with cranes lifting loads like that container. When the crane is taking the initial weight it`s a good idea to be completely clear of the load. If one of those chains or strops had broken the container would have moved very quickly perhaps sliding off the trailer perhaps straight at you. If a strop had broken it`s like a giant elastic band and would have taken you out in a fraction of a second. There is no point being that close, there is nothing you can do except get hurt. If you want to steady the hanging load wait till it`s 6 inches above the ground, then if something breaks you have half a chance to get out of the way. Only saying this because I`ve seen all these things happen after working construction for 35 years and that I`d like you to be around to make many more Videos like this. Excellent stuff,,,
You've got to hand it to Kermit. He doesn't just stand there and bark orders. He's in the thick of it, working with his crew. I love biplanes, and that's a beauty!
Beautiful lines on this Hawker! You can see the origins of the the Hurricane in the design.
If only they could have retained those fine slim profile wings - the lower ones at the attachment segment have a laminar profile, that would probably have made for a 350+ mph Hurricane.
What a great add to the Collection that is. And the best part: It is (almost) ready to fly! Have great fun with a beautiful Biplane!
Love you Guys! Love the new addition. When I went to A&P school in San Diego CA. They had us machine tools for the rigging of Bi Plane guy wires. Now retried from 45 years in the aviation field it never gets old watching the old airplanes come back to life.
Great video Mr. Weeks. You are one hard working Hands on person.
Beautiful addition to your collection.
Brilliant. I am sad that the Shuttleworth Collection didn't keep it in Britain, but if it had to leave you are about the best person to have it. I used to ride past the Shuttleworth airfield every Wednesday when I lived near there.
It was privately owned, just based at Shuttleworth. Not part of their collection. They have a Hawker Hind.
What a magnificent acquisition 👍 Top Notch
What a terrific thing! Looking forward to seeing you take to the skies in it.
That’s a gorgeous airplane! Congratulations Kermit
Very, Very nice Hawker! Those planes were originally designed as bombers, but the British fighters of the time couldn't catch them, so the other fighter versions were derived. AMAZING!
No doubt, Kermit is an absolute genius around this amazing collection, but, who will replace him when sadly, the time comes?
i get the impression Kermit's jokes were left over from Christmas - great present from the UK Kermit, be good to see this puppy fly again
love the 'back to the future' hoverboard!
The reargun compartment offers a lot of fresh air and an unforgettable grandstand in any air battle. Also wonder what 'special' agency has to sign those 'deactivated' guns - maybe Kermit made an offer one could not refuse ?

We were at Shuttleworth in August 2023. The Hind was in the rwork hangar and well on he way to being back flying.
It was privately owned, not part of the Shuttleworth Collection. Yes the Hind is well underway with reassembly.
Very hard to believe just how much fun it is watching some old guys unload an airplane. Fabulous! Let's do it again! Many thanks to all of you!
Congratulations on the Demon! What a great and cool aircraft to add to the collection! I feel so fortunate I was able to visit Fantasy of Flight when it was still open. Thank you for keeping the videos coming!
Lovely aircraft but Kermit's museum has been closed for years so good luck trying to see it as a static exhibit or flying

Love those Hawker biplanes!
They patrolled the Brit Empire all over the world.
Salute !
Kermet Congratulations What a beauty. Can't wait to see her fly.
Boy are you going to have fun with that one ! These have a reputation of being a delight to fly
Yes you do have the coolest job! That’s one babe of an aircraft you have and first time seeing you in a jumper, didn’t think they existed in Florida!
There is no unboxing, like a Kermit unboxing!
Damn!..that Curmy has them all!😮
The engine sounds awesome by the way !! Seen the Hawker Fury fly (which has the Kestrel engine in for those who don't know) & it was amazing to see
Seen the Demon fly at Shuttleworth, absolutely superb to see and hear !
you have, by far, the coolest unboxing videos kermit! you guys must have a doctorate in ratchet strap operation by now lol!

I've seen this aircraft fly in the UK, it is truly awesome 👍👍👍
Yes tou have the coolest job.
What a lovely aeroplane.
I'm surprised you lifted it by the crank shaft.
That's cool, British built some awesome stuff.
When you wrapped the nylon strap around the crankshaft you weren't in the center and one side(starboard) was just a little longer than the port side. As balanced as the plane is, it would only need a 1/4" difference for the plane to list to port. You have made this the coolest job for you and for those of us that are just PLANE NUTS we love what you are doing and wish the best .
Gonna miss that girl in the UK, glad she's gone to a good home though ☺
Beautiful aircraft.
Yowza- that plane' a Beauty!
Saw it as a kid at Shuttleworth, beautiful aeroplane.
Hawker biplanes were some of the best aircraft of the pre WW2 era, with their light bombers faster than contemporary fighters.
Thank you for saving history. Wonderful
Geee Kermit, by the time you did all that work, unpacking your new, really cool treasure, I bet you slept like a baby. Hope I can climb tall containers when I reach your age. Just retired Kiwi. You do have the coolest job Kermit. A fantastic treasure that came out of that shipping container. Well done. Looking forward to see you flying it. 👍🇺🇸
Would love to see you do some videos on the Stagger Wing!
That video of it flying looks like she really moves !
Gorgeous addition to your collection sir!
What a beautiful, beautiful aeroplane. Very sad that it's left the UK
What a gorgeous aircraft the Demon is. I'll certainly miss seeing it here in the UK
What a beautiful bird
What a BEAUTIFUL machine!!!
That's one beautiful aeroplane.
I somehow get the feeling that Kermit will fly this one? He shows enthusiasm for all his purchases but seems over the moon with this particular acquisition! Seemed to bring out the demon in him!
Sadly I believe it will gather dust. I get the feeling that Kermit is a collector these days rather then an active flyer.
@@alanholloway1264after he pulled the demon out and discussed the hanger shuffle he stated he was going to fly I believe the s39, he still flies
"...wing it!" Badum-tsss 😆
Two points for using that hand saw Kermit!
Aeronautical art, stunning!
american semi trucks just hit different..... they look the business, raw power and a unique style all in one.
Did anyone else flinch when the saw tip came close to the skin after he cut the top off the support frame?
She’s a beauty. The best looking biplane imo.
Never seen her fly, shame she has left the UK but, I am glad Kermit has her
Great video Kermit got to like the boss that's not afraid get his hands dirty your definitely a rare breed so well done and mu h respect to you 👏
Now Kermit...One does hope that your crew did receive a good “Naked in Jamaica!” grog issue. After this wonderful video I think I will don my Jimmy and my Zee caps for the rest of today.
Seen that flying at shuttleworth
First, we must thank Kermit because we know he will look after it, BUT, why did we allow such an important part of our aviation history to leave the UK?
Awesome stuff Kermit!
Getting down from on top of the container without a ladder might have been a bit tougher than climbing up.
Love your video's but just one correction...the Point Cook museum is the RAAF museum not the RAFF!!!! LOL Cheers from Australia!
GREAT JOB!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!
The only difference between Kermit and a 10 yo kid is about 3' of height and bigger shoes. And that's why we watch him and his crew. !
I'm loving this video almost done what a awesome airplane man o man I'm still thawing out up here in Milton Florida we received 9.8 inches of snow no one was flying for a couple days lol how about the A-26 I'm always asking about it love that project thanks Kermit for another great video
Just like the unboxing my model airplanes!
I get excited for finding $1500 dirt bikes, there are levels
The tip of that saw came mighty close to the wing fabric!
Yeah panic attack almost… anxiety shot up for a second

I hope to get there one day to see his museum , i live 12000 miles away LOL
cant wait for the next flying video. seems like its been a while.
What an awesome looking aircraft.......Thank you Kermit & crew for the unboxing video......
Old F-4 pilot Shoe🇺🇸
*Kermit doesn't have the fastest propeller driven aircraft in operational service during WW2... the Dornier Do-335.*
What a beauty omg.
I'd like to see the assembly and remaiden process.
We need some staggering videos!
Dang, I got all excited and ran out and opened my connex. It was still full of junk. No beautiful planes.
I saw this at Demon at Old Warden in 2018, and got some beautiful photos of it.
I looked it’s performance and look forward to seeing it grace the skies once more ❤
Have fun with this one Sir, you’re going to love this one!
Jeezus Kermit if you fall off your scooter or container you will land like a sack of crockery!
Nice.
Love the channel bro but C’mon man , no cordless saw on the property, ?????
Tell Art that's no way to rig a ladder, four up and one out. You don't bounce as well as you used to do when you were a 30 yrar old Kermit!

Kermit, you're going up north to Ian with the engine?
Can we expect a talk video? Some experience exchange?
Love watching you do things! If you're taking requests --> F-106!
A fella I know in Queensland had a Rolls Royce engine for a Demon
I was complete except for the supercharger, it came with paperwork recording times when it had been tested and we believed it was unused and never fitted to an aircraft
He swapped the front of 1926 Dodge from the cowl forward for it, the fella he got it from had swapped a pair of WWII Japanese spilt toed sandshoes (sneakers) for it
Eventually he tried to sell it, he wrote to Rolls Royce to see if they were interested in buying it, they didn't have one and wanted it but wanted him to donate it to them, he later sold it to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra for a thousand dollars Australian
It was about thirty five years ago, at the time the trip from Far North Queensland to Canberra to deliver it and return cost him the thousand dollars in fuel for his ex army long wheelbase Toyota Land Cruiser "troop carrier" but he was happy for his four young sons to see the museum at the War Memorial
He'd had a carpenter make it a solid wooden stand and it was on it's stand in the back of the "troopie" and looked like it was fitted and powering the thing with his four young sons in the back with it on the original fold down military seats facing the engine like little inflight mechanics positioned around it to service it while running
Kermit could have used the crane 🏗️ lift you by your britches do the superman thing to get up on the container
Nice. How's the BF108? Was Aug 23 the last video?
Paul the mechanic is no longer with Kermit so I think work on the 108 has stopped until a replacement worker is found
@ A shame, thank you for the update.
At top speed those OneWheels will shut off. Be careful
Fun fact:..the first Messerschmitt Bf-109 prototype was powered by one of these Rolls-Royce Kestrel engines...
Kermit… STAY OFF ladders!
'Props' to the guys who packed the parts. Magnificent packaging.
Kermit keeps History Alive. Thats priceless and a gift to the world.
