I've had several guitar companies reach out to me asking if I'd be interested in reviewing their product and I always reply yes, but I will tell them what I REALLY think if their product sucks or if it is worthy of the cost, most of them I never heard from again! lol

Grabbing my Sawtooth ST and heading to rehearsal later today. My BadCat Mojo T is still there from last week.

from a social media reviewers perspective it's often a question of providing an honest review while maintaining credibility with audiences, & relationships with producers. From the producers perspective it's a relatively inexpensive way to promote their product to many viewers. I doubt that many reviewers who do give an honestly poor review of a particular guitar will get a future chance with that same producer. And for this reason, it's all unclear if the reviewer has any credibility, or just wants to maintain promotion relationships with producers in order to create content --in the end it's all marketing for everyone involved

Yes, you often have to watch a few reviews to get a sense of the reviewer's objectivity.

If I were based in England I'd definitely work with Anderton's and Chapman....they support small channels like Dave Simpson...he's not a huge channel. Sweetwater has worked with small channels as well. I would not turn down free gear or loaned gear from these companies if I was in the demo biz.

I've commented on a few of their videos but have not had any response from either. I think Dave Simpson frequented the store and that's why he was supported.

I was lucky when I started reviewing guitars. Companies like Cort, Breedlove, Tanglewood, Ibanez, Eastman etc were happy to send me guitars. However I already had a large musicians website and forum that has been running for over 20 years and a close affiliation with Yamaha. So it was actually useful for those companies to get reviews on my site. I was honest in my reviews though, which was great for most of them but is also the reason why I think Yamaha never sent me another guitar or keyboard 😂I am definitely not top of their Christmas card list! Andertons was going to send me a couple of Sire acoustics but then backed out. Can't say I blame them. They have no real need of a channel like mine. I did buy a Sire A4 which I may get around to reviewing. But yeah, generally speaking, unless you have a compelling reason for a brand to want to send you something. You will have to stump up the cash and buy the guitars yourself. Which most of us, me included, can't afford to do. Not often anyway. Better for brands to have their own channels where they control the narrative.

All very true but brand channels give worthless reviews!

@@FlowforthInstruments Exactly. They are product promotions, not reviews. Unfortunately, RUclips is flooded with them. True, independent reviews are hard to find. And with Google having changed their algorithm back in March to supposedly show results with more "helpful content" which instead stuffs the first few pages with links to retailers, what hope is there for those looking for genuine feedback about a guitar, or anything else for that matter? I guess we can only keep doing what we do and hope it provides some insight that might help people make a buying decision.

I add this consideration: All this exposure, saturation, bombardment, made me detach from the guitar for a period. A strange thing was happening to me, I was starting to hate the six strings. To take action, I made sure to eliminate most of the blatantly commercial channels. I have saved a few channels (one of them is yours). This exaggerated mass of media input had transformed the joy and sense of discovery into something similar to a box of detergent. it was flattening my passion. Unfortunately, this is something that happens with many things in this current world
