I'm currently going through your drawing mega-course and reached the part where you talk about facial banding and wanted to learn more and here I am! I've been been doing basic coloring for years and this is the first I've heard of the technique. One of the pitfalls of being a self-taught artist, I guess. But I really appreciate your tutorials, these are some of the best I've seen on the net.
Been keeping up with your tutorials, tips, speed paints over the last month or so - definitely some good material here and this is a huge resource to use in my own personal artwork. Really brings the paintings to life. I like the idea of downloadable pdfs to use for reference. especially when drawing on the iPad to have quick access too. I'll be on the lookout for that. Great videos! Keep up the good work!
Just curious how you chose those particular colors for the "banding" technique? How do the colors relate to the base skin tone in different hues? Like with caucasian skin I can see the nose/ears/cheeks are where the blood is most visible through the skin, but how would that adapt to different human (and nonhuman for fantasy art) skin colors?
Great video Austin! I discovered your channel, because you are shown as related channel on my channel! ;) Great to see other artists also working in Procreate. Keep up the good work!
Holy cow, dude, you are amazing! Is it possible to get a real drawing lesson from you? I'd love to learn from you, so much! Your drawings are so incredible!
Please a shading tutorial, I have been shading using watercolor tools from medibang, but I really want to do all my work on procreate, but I only do some messy stuff in there :s, any advice?
Love your work. Quick question - when working in ProCreate - what size do you work in for your canvas and at what DPI? I was curious because you use tons of layers so I'm guessing you don't do a lot of "print" work but do things more for the screen etc.? Thanks and keep up on the awesome shares!
austin batchelor oh ok awesome! I normally make my canvas at 24x36 for movie posters etc and hate that I get limited so much on layers. But honestly I can't complain about Procreate because it's just amazing for what you can do for such a low cost.
Lucas Tetrault ya at this I can definitely see it cutting down your layers. When I need something bigger I usually paint it at 11x15 and then when it's done I put it in photoshop and blow up the size and it usually does a pretty good job of maintaining the resolution.
This is the first time I'm seeing a tutorial on facial banding. I just discovered the term too. Thanks so much, man. This will help heaps!
Jeeb Ishak glad to hear! Enjoy!

Lucas Tetrault I actually always paint at 300 dpi and canvas dimensions of usually 11in x 15 in.
