- The membrane of a bacterial cell is very similar to the membrane we see in eukaryotes with some slight variation. Bacteria, for example, lack sterols and we do not find cholesterol embedded in the membrane. If you already know all about cell membranes, this will simply be a review. If not, you will be oriented to the main terminology and structure.
