Good evening Nigel, Good to have an episode during the week. I seem to remember reading a while back that the CZJ 35mm Flektogon lens actually had a focal length of 37.5mm.
Hello Nigel, many thanks for this review! You put much effort in your videos! I agree, 40 mm focal length is a very versatile focal length. I have the Canon EF 2.8/40 mm STM counterpart. It's tiny and very fun to use. Best wishes, Ralf
I believe Yoshihisa Maitani, designer of Pen and Olympus OM-1, 2 etc favorite lens focal length was 40mm. He could use any lens he wanted to, if not he would design it and have it made. He was also an excellent photographer.
The actual standard focal length for 35mm/full frame is 43mm (and a bit) and I've always thought it a shame that the industry has made 50mm the standard standard if you see what I mean. I had a 45mm on my Contax G2 years ago and really liked it. Nikon has a 40mm for the Z mount and there really need to be more.
I fully agree. i don't understand why they chose 50mm, 52mm, 55mm and even 58mm as standard focal length. They are a bit too narrow in its angle for general photography. Does anybody know the reason?
Looks like like only Sony E and Nikon Z ? Did not hear it mentioned in the video? From my vintage collection I own a Minolta 45mm F2 and Konica 40mm F1.8. Very nice as they both pancake design and available for about $50 each
lovely surprise an episode today, thank you Nigel

I have to say the 3 Viltrox lenes i have for my Xpro-1 are superb, no complaints about colour or sharpness.

I love my Canon 40mm f2.8 Marco 0.3 m/0.98 ft pancake lens. It is fun to shoot on full-frame or cropped sensor cameras, sharp and blurry background.

For those of us on M4/3 Sigma 19mm f2.8 = effectively 40mm given the slightly squarer format ;-)
2:09 Royal Enfield?
Yes, a Crusader.
