These pieces are the embodiment of the complexity of mother nature and reveal the simplicity of human life!

It is wonderful the way Messiaen incorporates birdsong into his music. I admire him for his catholic faith too.

transcending, reminds me of the birds in my backyard. i'd love to learn a few of these sketches and play for the birds, maybe one will come up and say hello, chirp away and new harmonies will be created with our live interpretations

really interesting music - beautiful playing too most of the time - why no mention of a pianist - - it can't be software/digital?

It's a shame it's MIDI and not done by a live pianist... But it's nice to find a "new" piece of Messiaen.

Hi may I know where you found the scores? I couldn't find any link or shops about this pieces from internet. It'd be so kind of you to give me some information. Thank you very much!

So...does that mean that we can call this piece...expressionistic?
Because it seems to base itself of the sounds produced by the image portrayed, which seems like an antithesis to impressionism (which tells more on the mood given out by said image rather than the sound itself)

I never understood why this type of mode music uses the Western scale. I mean, if you want to separate your music from traditional Western idioms, you might as well go the full monty like John Cage and go nuts pitch wise. Although how one would put it down on paper would be an interesting exercise, to say the least.

I don't think the composer was interested in "separation" or any kind of radical break from western music, so much as imagining a return to its origins - deriving motifs from bird calls which were available for human hearing prior to the development of music as a "language" or even instruments.

More than not musical: this sequencer doesn't even respect the accents and voices. Sequencer es never enough, not even to read the work.

Of course it is not nature´s sound... Music made by man is very much superior and complex than the sounds of Mother Nature....
