Dear Californians, if you move to Texas, remember why you left. Don’t move here and then vote for the same politics that made you leave. Otherwise, just stay where you are.
Every person I know leaving my State are not Liberal. Many are natives like myself who have seen the decimation of our state by insane Democrats who give everything away for free. Except us hard working Californians. When my family does move as we are planning, we’ll take our wealth and Red votes to wherever we end up.
I have seen different places hate Californians because they do this. I cant remember where I found it but years ago California was the state with one of the highest percentages of people leaving
Absolutely. You are 100% correct. I'm 10 years removed from a job were I traveled extensively in the US for 21 years I worked in every state except Hawaii. I was in a small town about 60 miles north of NYC. A bueatiful old little town. I complemented the guy I was working with on how nice his little town was. He said I was born here. It was a great little town till those people decided to move there from the city because it was so nice. Only problem. They didnt change. They brought the city with them. Those were his words.
That's one thing I've never understood. If where you live has policies and laws you agree with, why move? If I were to move to another state, I think I'd fit in quite well and NOT wreck the place by voting for a bunch of socialists and leftists. Leftists are bad for not only business, but bad for life in general. I guess one reason would be if the climate was better for your health.
Thank you. I worked at a store for several years, in the middle of the whole ban plastic bags debate. The law got voted in and finally took effect. Literally every other person complained about having to pay 10 cents for a bag. I got so annoyed with it, I began telling every whiny person who mentioned the "why do I have to pay for bags!" that you, the people voted it in. People still, since then, didn't get politically involved or either kept voting Yes on all Calif's BS measures. So, I say yet again, you the people voted for this! Wake tf up people and read and understand all the measures California keeps adding and proposing for you to vote on (ie- plastic bags, train to nowhere) are BS and made to line their pockets!
I’m sorry you’re leaving your beloved CA. I would be sad to but I don’t blame you. Too many radical lefts in charge will turn everything to 💩. I mean literally just look at San Francisco 💩 city!! They all talk a big game, liberating ppl, free this free that, help the poor, the sicks, power to the ppl....but who’s going to work and pay for all this? I came from a communist country and the propaganda of the two are very similar. They’re design to make ppl poor and dumb so they can stay in power n get rich thru corruptions.
@@SevenSixTwo2012 Thank you we'll do. Don't worry we have always voted conservatively, but staying here any longer is a losing battle. It has become difficult to even have a conversation with anyone here any more. Sanctuary city, sanctuary state.
@@superfly19751 Thank You, you are so right, and you see it because of where you came from. Ca. used to be a wonderful place many years ago but has become a nightmare in many ways, except for the weather.
As someone raised in CA my whole life, I have been feeling the pull of leaving. I appreciate you sharing those stats, because it has definitely added fuel to the decision to leave. Truly, the only thing keeping me here is family.
@@jimmycarney7650 i'd like to think that you're american first before you're whatever party you claim. so really, you should be welcoming to any american that wants to live in your state.
I’ve been considering leaving LA for two years, this whole thing has convinced me. I’m only here for the weather, beach, and the mountains. I can work from anywhere. Going to spend the summer traveling to 5-6 cities to live.
I'd move to CA for all that is great, but everything else sucks. Shame, such a beautiful state, ocean, beaches, mountains, desert, I love the outdoors, but the crime, taxes, politics, traffic, cost of living, housing, illegals, ect are too much to deal with, CA has the lowest quality of living standard in the country.
Coherent Order I live in a red state with high crime, low wages, and large poverty. The grass isn’t always greener. The land that may be beautiful is privately owned with typically no access to the public. The laws that help companies also impact the fact that there is less regulation so we have high instances of environmental damage like poisoning the water with little over site or consequences. Tennessee isn’t probably recruiting because they can’t guarantee livable wages and lower standards of living.
James Huddleston I would recommend you look at Colorado if you are looking for a place with a similar environment. There’s great mountains, the weather is usually pretty nice but it can change fast, and as for the beaches, well there are reservoirs here that are pretty nice and well kept, but still not exactly a beach. It’s definitely worth visiting, it’s a good state with a lot to offer. (Just don’t bring the Californian policies over here)

I’m a real estate agent who solely works with families and individuals relocating out of state, and I hear all the time about how people are excited to get out of their old states!! Most of these people are coming from high tax, high cost of living areas that are not business friendly.

@@-_Somebody_ so..... Portland is unique in its downfall? If I were to move it will be to a state with a state government that aligns with what l believe in.
So many people moving to Colorado don’t realize that while the state sales tax is low, each locality adds additional tax bringing the total sales tax above 8%, some areas above 10%. Yearly vehicle registration is high if you have a newer car, can be over $700 a year depending on which county you live in. Property tax is low here, but car insurance is extremely high because we have some of the worst drivers, and yearly damaging hail storms. The housing costs compared with income is way out of balance, the homeless population boom (even in ski towns because the lift operators can’t afford housing) and drug cartels have destroyed what was once a wonderful state to live in. In summary, Colorado isn’t what it appears to be on paper.
But see that’s all these people can see. They’ve used figures to manipulate people so long they have become myopic enough to actually believe what the paper says. We have a whole society running on bad information because “stats”.
I am from Colorado, my family still lives there. The state is changing. It’s busy and crowded. A lot of homeless and drug users now. I love Colorado and I am so proud to be from there but I don’t think I would ever live their again. Also properties are getting very expensive

great for business bad for schools and elder care. I work in NYC and my folks live in Florida. My fathers caregivers makes barely $9 an hour. The caregivers kids go to a public school where the SAT scores could not get them admitted at any first tier university. The state's elder care is so shockingly underfunded that they just stick all the senior citizens with great medical needs in Hospice programs so that they'll receive at least some federal spending. If I had a dollar for every time a Florida hospital nurse told me "this isn't New York or California we don't offer any of those healthcare options for senior citizens. sorry there is no state income tax here". taxes are a reflection of how much you value a highly educated workforce and how much you value your senior citizens.

I am having so much fun watching you recite the great American mythology as compiled by a "non-profit". The first thing that should be on top of any list doesn't even make it on their list: human rights and fair legal climate. I will not move to a state that will make target practice out of me with live rounds, zero tax notwithstanding. There's a reason some states and cities got their population.
Tennessee is recruiting a bunch of businesses. Chattanooga has had tremendous growth in recent years. Some of the best tax rates, best cost of living, huge job market, and great gun laws ;) We’re thriving, and TN has handled the pandemic well.
There you go. I now live in Peru. They will move at the drop of a hat if there is work. Like everywhere they have been moving to the city. And other countries.. Argentina and Chile mostly. My heart goes out to small business owners; especially restaurants being affected by their politically motivated Governors/Senators. My son, who is a Perfusionist in Dallas, Texas had considered moving back closer to New York but decided to stay due to all that you described in this video! TEXAS is a beautifully run state and the people are amazing. Inasmuch as we only see him approximately two times or more each year, we are very happy that he’s decided to stay and now I am considering making the move as well. Thank you for this enlightening video as I sent it to my son showing him that his decision to stay in Texas was indeed the best move he made!!
Facts! I was a life long bleed bluest of blue liberal until I moved here from Texas. Now I am moderate at best. I miss my conservative state government.
Patrick, that was incredible my friend. The business world...and possibly, the World in general, needs good, honest, generous spirited people like you to highlight the true state of affairs. You and your family, deserve to prosper and do well. Respect from across the pond.

I saw the light 5 years ago when I moved from LA to a small town in Southern Nevada. There's no state income tax here and the property taxes are cheap (real estate prices are about half of LA). Vegas has world class entertainment and senior citizens enjoy spending their Social Security income at the slot machines. The school systems are a little sketchy but there are a few decent school districts.

I was raised in Taxachusetts. Great public school system (Natick), but lacking in too many other ways. Have been living in Missouri for over 20 years. (Terrible public school system in Kansas City, but there's a lot else I do like.)
No state tax states: Florida Texas Nevada Washington Tennessee Alaska New Hampshire South Dakota Wyoming Mind you, some of these states have either high sales tax, high property tax, or both.
I prefer high sales tax and no income tax. Sale tax is easy to collect and can't be evaded. It also save alot of costs involve in calculating the income tax (accounting fee, irs auditor salaries,...)
Good point! if a state doesn’t impose state income tax, it typically makes up for it by raising taxes elsewhere. For instance, while Texas and New Hampshire do not tax earned income, they do have exceptionally high property tax rates, according to Business Insider. In addition, many of these states also impose high sales tax on groceries and goods. Bankrate points out that Tennessee has one of the highest sales tax rates in the country, charging a 7 % sales tax statewide. Texas and Nevada have above-average sales taxes, and Texas also has higher-than-average effective property tax rates. Florida relies on sales taxes, and its property taxes are above the national average.
Texas has high property tax compared to California. But that's only when you compare by price in US dollars. When you look at the cost by square footage, Texas is cheaper. Here's what I mean. It costs $1 million or more to get a 2 br shack anywhere near Google or Facebook or Apple. The same 2 br "shack" in Texas can cost anywhere from $75,000 to $325,000, depending on where you choose to live. So while the million dollar property is taxed a lower rate, the person looking for the $325,000 property in Texas can find lots of places with 3,000 sq. ft. or more instead of living in that 2 br shack.
Thank you Patrick for sharing this information. We're moving to Texas this Aug. 2020. We had planned in Jan to move this Fall from NYC to TX. The recent events have cemented the deal.
Wow! Perfect timing for me to watch this. This video was the last answer I need to confirm my decision about leaving California and moving to Texas... it’s so clear to me now. Thank you for posting this!
Great video. My wife wants to leave NY already and move to Texas. Watching this video has made me rethink that it’s time to start fresh some where else.
For every business owner/taxpayer who leaves CA there are even more arriving illegally who don't pay any taxes (other than sales tax) Once the state collapses, they're coming to ruin the good states with with 'liberal' policies. Liberalism is such a corrosive force in every area unfortunate enough to be infected.(and i say this as a former leftie)
I can’t agree more with this. I live in NY and can’t wait to leave. 3 more years and I retire with 25 years with sheriffs office. This state is a dump and oppressive.

Unless you are in the industry, watching a game of sports, a play, having a drink at a pub or club or swimming at the beach doesn't pay the bills or feed your children or yourself... In Tech, as long as you have good broadband or fiber, access to an airport/ transport you can run a business from anywhere...
We moved from CA in Oct 2019. I am soo glad we got out of CA before the pandemic hit! The state I am in now handled this situation so much better than CA. I still have family in CA so I know everything that is going on there.

I live in California, been seeing the exodus for years. but with this push to "work from home" it means say good by to your California job 'cause they will be hiring from job friendly states like TX, AZ, FL, and TN.
I live in TN. If you like paying 9.75% sales tax and even on food it's 6.75%. Climate sucks. We have 2 seasons summer and winter. You couldn't pay me to live in Texas. Use t live in Florida. Like the climate in Florida and the Gulf would be interested in moving back. However the state has been run by Repubes for 25 years and that doesn't look to change anytime soon. Also rents are outrageous. Has minimum wage at $8.56 but good luck finding a decent 1 bedroom apartment in decent ares for under a grand. Square that circle

I understand leaving California, because it is too costly to make a living wage. Texas is definitely not the right move for many people. I have friends who love it, but I would be miserable living there. I have lived in at least 10 different states and they each have good and badly qualities. North Carolina is nice. @chadzwife Arkansas did have many restrictions to "slow the spread", we just didn't call it a Lockdown. We started easing restrictions fairly early, in phases. We moved to Nevada in 2010, escaping from New York. Much to my dismay, this state has been trending further and further left for the past 5 years or so; undoubtedly persons relocating from California, especially the coastal areas have played a major role in this. The virus notwithstanding, Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the entire country. I have told my wife that if the governor and legislature (a Democrat and largely Democrat controlled respectively) end up implementing a state income tax to make up for the lost revenue, we are out of here the first chance we get. Hopefully this won't happen, but I put nothing past modern day Democrats, since the overwhelming majority of them are so far left of center.
Anthony Stone . . . and they once were. It appears that an elite class has destroyed the long-term vision of the state. Their policies will do the rest of the damage, automatically.
You did the best decision in your life ! Our family wanted to move to Texas for all the reasons you explained years ago . But than everything get bad in our business. We are leaving NY and going to Las Vegas! We had that talk and we’ve been saying for the last 10 years we were leaving NY. When COVID-19 struck NY and all the businesses were shut down and are still closed and will be closed or defunct until next year, that was the push we needed to pull the trigger. This will take years to correct and more taxes $$$$. It’s never enough in NY. I respect what you say. More people need to listen and prepare for the future. Thank you for all your lessons!

Ditto on that!
I left Los Angeles and took my business out of the state years ago, literally the best decision I've ever made.

But most importantly leave your liberal views there
Coherent Order I live in a red state with high crime, low wages, and large poverty.
James Huddleston
I would recommend you look at Colorado if you are looking for a place with a similar environment.

We have a whole society running on bad information because “stats”.

great for business bad for schools and elder care.

I was raised in Taxachusetts. Great public school system (Natick), but lacking in too many other ways. Have been living in Missouri for over 20 years. (Terrible public school system in Kansas City, but there's a lot else I do like.)
No state tax states:
Florida
Texas
Nevada
Washington
Tennessee
Alaska
New Hampshire
South Dakota
Wyoming
Mind you, some of these states have either high sales tax, high property tax, or both.
I prefer high sales tax and no income tax. Sale tax is easy to collect and can't be evaded. It also save alot of costs involve in calculating the income tax (accounting fee, irs auditor salaries,...)
@@NguyenMinh-pf8gx Sales tax absolutely could be evaded.
Alaska doesn`t have sales and income tax
Good point! if a state doesn’t impose state income tax, it typically makes up for it by raising taxes elsewhere.

We welcome you to Texas !!! Please leave the NY politics in NY !!! Trump 2020!!! Cheers from Texas!!!
Go where you are treated best ... Even if it's outside of America but that's a different conversation
That's what I'm saying... In a different conversation of course 😅
I've been predicting a mass exodus out of California for years. I already left, and it's the best decision I ever made.
Patrick. My wife and I keep talking about this subject. This video was great and very informative. Thanks for everything you do.
I can’t agree more with this. I live in NY and can’t wait to leave. 3 more years and I retire with 25 years with sheriffs office. This state is a dump and oppressive.
Just know when you leave FL isn't the only state out there..Seems that where so many of you folks in NY like to move to and we are FULL..
good luck to you.
Thank you John for protecting a part of NY.
Hang in there.. Your retirement is right around the corner!
Hi John, what are your thoughts on the Hudson Valley?
You're such a good host. Everything always so clear and so much info and data given. I just sent this video to all my friends and family.

Patrick, thank you for sharing. This information is GOLD!! I'm already in Florida, but looking to move to a part of Florida that is less expensive to live. South Florida has gotten very expensive. High cost of Real estate, property taxes, traffic, etc. But we love Florida and do not want to move out of state. My wife and I are both from NYC.

Gotta tell ya, Texas and Florida has been on my radar for years. Dig it man, I'm already makin' my plans.
We moved from CA in Oct 2019. I am soo glad we got out of CA before the pandemic hit! The state I am in now handled this situation so much better than CA. I still have family in CA so I know everything that is going on there.
We will know in time. Which state did you move to ? Some handled it better (Arizona) and other handled it worse (Louisiana)
I don't know what the other states believe what they are doing but, "God Bless Texas"
Here is your problem! Too many BRAIN DEAD Californians are moving in Mass to Texas to get away from all the stupid laws, regulations and politicians THEY VOTED FOR! Except NOW THEY ARE VOTING FOR THE SAME BRAIN DEAD COMMUNIST IDEAS THEY LEFT IN CALIFORNIA! SO NOW TEXAS IS BECOMING A PURPLE STATE AND IF IT GOES BLUE YOU CAN KISS BOTH AMERICA AND TEXAS GOODBYE!!! And here I thought Pat I was the only one who wrote a letter to my former state. Yours was a love letter. Mine was a breakup letter.
New York is getting HAMMERED right now, soooo many people left. Serves Cuomo right.
I live on Long Island. Only thing holding me back is my teenage daughter finishing school. Im heading out RIGHT after!
NY taxes started the exodus, covid expedited things.
I will be leaving NYC in the next two years as well
Franks Card Corner shes online, go where you want, when you want.
Most of the people leaving NY we're glad to be rid of. A lot move to Florida. You know, the state where old people go to die.
I am definitely leaving New York as soon as possible. I never thought I'd go but I have to.
We as a nation NEED more people like you Pat. Keep up the great work.
My sister and I are also tired of the high taxes in California and we are making plans to move to Texas next spring! This video is confirmation. Thank you for another great video.
Better leave Democrat voting behind or you'll turn TX into a CA and NY. Vote Republican if you don't like the lifestyle of CA.
Please don't move here
Texas is gonna get crowded :)
@@harryballsak1123 Florida isn't a "Job Friendly State"....the pay is very low here & it gets hotter & more humid every year. They are already predicting 10 hurricanes this 2020 season!
I understand leaving California, because it is too costly to make a living wage. Texas is definitely not the right move for many people. I have friends who love it, but I would be miserable living there. I have lived in at least 10 different states and they each have good and badly qualities. North Carolina is nice. Maryland and Virginia are nice. New Jersey is actually really nice.

Imagine if California actually created just a "decent" business environment? They would be unstoppable.
